As with the shopfronts of the past, the owner lives upstairs, and will advise her customers that they can call if she's popped upstairs during business hours. The owner (I think her name is Pamela, but I've lost the business card.) takes yarn VERY SERIOUSLY. I recently went in for a gift for a relative who had made me a very large afghan. I wanted to buy the relative a fancy yarn that would be a pleasure for her to make something for herself. The owner asked me more questions than I even knew the answers to, and together we arrived at a beautiful wine colored yarn of a sort of silken material. It was a little dear, but I think the yarn will be a lovely scarf or shawl. The owner will answer ANY questions that you have. I don't think there's anything about knitting or crocheting that she doesn't know. Of course she teaches as well. In keeping with the classic theme, there is no Internet portal with which to access the store. I was told that if the owner had a computer it would probably be flying out of her upstairs window in short order. But, really, shouldn't we leave the house and meet our retailers sometimes? Being from San Diego, we definitely DO NOT have a stationery store like this. I walked all around to make sure I saw everything before I started to decide what to get. Cards, art supplies, water colors, pens, midori, black wing, etc! I wanted it all. But at the end, decision paralysis set in and I only got a few things that I've never seen before...pink lead!
