My husband and I eat hear quite often. When friends or family are in town and want Mexican food this is where we bring them. the back room is great for big groups. We have had groups of 30+ people and had ample room. The food is the best authentic Mexican in town. The only reason why I am giving a 3 star is because the service is not the that great. With our big groups they have been very on top of things, but when it is just 2 or 3 of us sometimes takes 10-15mins. just to get chips and salsa and order a drink. But I must say... we will always go there because the great authentic Mexican food outweighs the not so great service. read more

My wife and I and two friends went there for dinner on Friday 1/26/2018 dinner reservations at about 6pm..we were seated at 6:15 and it took at least 20 minutes for a waitress to come and ask about drinks...we finally received our drinks, then we ordered our food...it took almost 45 minutes to get our order, this was after asking our waitress where our food was, seeing how others seated after us had all ready gotten their drinks and food( one table was gone before we even got our food)..we asked to speak to the manager, he came over and we explained the problem, he raised his voice to us( enough for other tables to turn their heads) and said in an unfriendly and loud voice that it was because of what we ordered, and then walked away...We will never go back there to eat and if I were you, I would not go there either, as there are plenty of other good Mexican foods places in Indio..Stay away from this place.. read more

Oh how I loved this place. The food is so fresh and homemade. The chips and salsa were perfect. The owning family are Mexican and so sweet and helpful. I had a spicy enchilada that was to die for--especially with the family prepared queso. The atmosphere is fun and authentic. I would be a regular if I lived in the area. read more

This place is great!! We were visiting family in town and decided to try this place out and so glad we did! Great customer service we had a great waiter with a good sense of humor and the food was amazing! I got the chicken chimichanga that was perfect, my boyfriend for steak and shrimp fajitas and said it was so full of flavor and his brother got a carne asada burrito that was also really good. What a great find! On road trip from AZ and needed a place to eat and stretch our legs... Found this place on Yelp and decided to stop. Upon initial arrival it was empty so we figured it was going to be awesome or horrible. Fortunately for us it was SUPER! The food is homemade and fresh, our server Rafael was AMAZING. We are traveling with a 14month old boy and I could tell Rafael had children as he was talking to our son and brought him crackers with our chips and salsa. When my daughter from Long Beach comes to the desert, we always go for breakfast at Macario's. We especially love the machaca and eggs, and the coffee is excellent. The homemade salsa is the best, and the chips are fresh and tasty. The staff is always friendly and attentive. This food has got to be the best Mexican food in town and under new management, this place is happening. I guarentee you will love the food, best margaritas, my favorite is the Cadillac margarita, and there is also a Tamarind margarita that's very tasty. What a nice welcome as you walk enter this restaurant!!! Smiling faces and great vibe as they escort you to your table. Family owned place. The evening we were there, a fellow was playing music on guitar with keyboard who was very very good and the volume of the music was perfect so we could have a conversation. All sorts of different style music also. The food was fabulous. Honest to goodness Mexican Food. There were 4 of us and everyone raved about their selection. I had the Chile Verde Pork Burrito which was outstanding. The green sauce was to my liking. The pork so tender it melted in your mouth. The portion was so large, I brought 1/2 of the burrito home and had it for lunch the next day. Not all restaurants make you feel wanted and comfortable while you are there but Macario's Grill does that and seems genuinely glad you came. Please visit if you are in the Coachella Valley area and have been searching for authentic Mexican cuisine! The ambiance is warm and family-oriented with quality live music and intimate carved wooden booths. The watermelon margarita is delicious! We'd also recommend the shimp enchiladas (Galicia) a new item on the menu. They are served with a creamy chipotle sauce that is heavenly. The service is fast and friendly as well. We've tried nearly all of the Mexican restaurants in the area and we highly recommend this fine establishment. read more

Went with our Deal Chicken coupon for the first time. It was a fun little spot and easy to find. Friendly staff and a nice cool, dark, oasis when it was 110 outside. We ordered fajitas,1 chicken and 1 shrimp. Both very good and piping hot- the shrimp were huge and I counted 12. The chicken was piled high on the plate. We took home enough leftovers for lunch and maybe dinner tomorrow. The singer with a guitar started at 5:30 and that was a plus. We will be back - I love the atmosphere of this funky little spot and let's keep our $$ local too. read more

We work nearby and love it for take out orders for a quick lunch or to take clients for a business meeting. Also a great place for a margarita and tasty food after a hard day at work. Great Mexican food - more than just the takeout fare. I had the Mole Chicken which was so delicious. Their horchata is great. Not too sweet. The flan is incredible - save space. The cocktails looked amazing... but I was shooting a film early the next morning so was unable to partake. Best of all, the place itself is one of a kind. It's the oldest building in Indio, and when inside you'll be transported by the mariachi playing his sad songs while we at and the friendly and welcoming staff. I felt peaceful and grateful for all life's blessings while I was there. Take some time to have a leisurely dinner here. It will be a special experience. read more

Waited for 15 mins and all I got was chips and salsa and water. I got up and asked the only waiter (just one during lunch hour) that he will be right with me 15 mins later I got up and left. The food, when they did bring it, was bland and tough. I never thought you could overcook a tamale, it tasted like it had been microwaved. Several of our dishes were wrong, either with something we asked to be removed like chili sauce over the burrito or a completely incorrect order. Everything came out separately and long after the first dish came out, we did not eat together as they kept getting the order wrong. The cake was expensive and small, it was a slice of chocolate cake from Costco, they don't make it in-house. We were the only Mexicans in the restaurant, which says a lot. Our waiter Aaron was nice, but the rest of the staff were standoffish, when I called for one (the bartender I think), he ignored me. Was forced to pay the 18% gratuity, we were not given the option of paying less due to bad service or delay. From a long time and unfortunately ex client now. While their food has always been good watch out for the scam charges on drinks! We have been coming to macarios for years with family, friends and clients and until this evening 3/23/13 have never had any challenges. We odreded two large house margaritas ($11.95) with don julio tequila ($7.00) there was no price adjustment they just added it to the price? When we asked the waitress to explain she says each drink ether small or large has one shot of tequila and when you order a different tequila its added to the price? We then said if thats the case you took out one teguilla, replaced it with another and charged us for both to which she replied that she doesnt make the prices? We asked to speak with the manager and they sent out a bus buy (older gentlemen) who then proceeded to tell us what a bargain we got because each large drink has three shots in it? We went through the math even pointing out the next higher margarita at $13.95 has what we ordered so why the huge price difference and how come our waitress didnt point this out to us? he replied that he doesnt make the prices thats what they are and the reason our waitress didnt say anything is because people get offended? Finally after ten minutes of getting nowhere due to some lack of basic math skills we said we just wanted to pay, that we were unhappy and wouldnt be back. The reply from the bus boy / manager "ok you dont have to come back" wow!! In my entire career in the hospitality business this is a first, especially from a small family establishmet. Again, good food, but watch the scams and good luck. Macarios evidentially is no longer a small family business with great service but has decided that they will scam their guests on the bill and is willing to lose long standing clients in the process. In search of the perfect deep-fried fish we fell upon this gem of a restaurant. Right from the start we were given ice cold drinks, even with a special request they were able to accommodate perfectly. The chips and salsa were fresh and perfectly spicy. Moving on to the main meal, we ordered the Huachinango, which is an entire Red Snapper fried in 100% Canola oil served al mojo de ajo (garlic and olive oil). Each measured about 10-12 inches and was perfectly cooked. Not only was the meal delicious, what absolutely won us over was the optimal service provided by our waiter David. He was charming, fun and attentive. We noticed how he attended table to table and made a point to leave each customer with a smile. Coming from customer service experience we can quickly identify a genuinely great waiter when we see one and David was it. This restaurant is our new favorite place, and living in Palm Springs it is well worth our drive.
