I had to cancel my cleaning because of a severe tendinitis flare in my shoulder and knee -- I physically couldn't drive or sit through the appointment. When I called to explain, the response was flat and unsympathetic. I was told the next available cleaning wasn't until October, with no offer of a cancellation list and no attempt to help. What makes this especially frustrating is that they call me about once a week asking if I want to come in for last‑minute openings when they have cancellations. But when I had a legitimate medical issue, suddenly there was no flexibility and no interest in accommodating a long‑time patient. After three decades with this practice, I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable -- just basic courtesy. The way this was handled made it clear that loyalty doesn't count for much here anymore. At this point, I'm planning to find a different dentist for myself, my kids, and anyone else I care about. I still believe they could have handled this with more understanding, but they chose not to, and that's what ultimately pushed me to move on.

However, since the North American Dental Group has been involved, the scheduling and check in procedures have become bureaucratic and unnecessarily onerous. I find it particularly objectionable that all the calls are routed through the call center. When I call the dentist's office about my individual care, I expect to talk to someone who can actually answer my questions. This has led to a situation where I have been unable to schedule a 6 month routine dental exam. Instead, I could only schedule an appointment for 8 months out and be on a waiting list for an earlier appointment should someone else cancel. This is unacceptable!

I hate to admit it, but it's been a very long time since I had seen a dentist, so after an extensive search looking for a new one my fellow Yelpers refused to fail me once again. There is a reason they have a 5-Star rating on Yelp! My initial reaction was with Kiki in the office. I was completely lost with how to handle my new insurance but she took my information and had me set up in no time. She even followed up with me a few hours later to let me know that everything had cleared and confirm my appointment. As I type this, I currently have a LOT of work to be done on my teeth, but my experiences thus far have been nothing short of, dare I say, almost enjoyable. Barb & Anna are wonderful dental hygienists. Being a naturally inquisitive creature, they walk me through every step, not only telling me what they're doing but also why. They're also gentle, yet very effective, in their handling which is really surprising. Dr Chidester is also an immensely likable, no-nonsense doctor with decades of experience under his belt. The office also offers payment plans if you're unable to pay for everything up front. I'm so glad that I found this office and can not recommend them enough!

The doctor did not wait long enough for the novocaine to kick in. He yelled at me for jumping each time he hit a nerve. He told me I had to hold still. I told him that my jumps were involuntary due to the sharp pain while he drilled. I complained and he assured me it would not happen again. The next time he gave more time for the novocaine but I still felt pain. Perhaps there was not enough. When a crown was cemented in place on another visit I again felt excruciating pain as he scrapped under the gum line to remove the cement. In addition the office is extremely small. My feet were less than a foot away from the wall. The dental assistant has to squeeze around the room. There is no tray table. The dental assistant drops tools on your chest for Dr. Marchese to use. Each of my dental experiences were a pain ridden nightmare.

It seems that no one wants to stay. Billing is terrible. They don't get pre-authorizations from Delta Dental when asked by me, the patient. No detailed description provided to me of the bill - just lump sum charges. All is all, avoid this firm at all costs. Don't believe the other reviews they have. There are plenty of other dentist in the area that continue their education and learn new techniques that are less painful and last longer. Glen Ellyn Dental did this in the past, but no longer are they leaders - just followers.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. From the front desk to the dental assistants & hygienists, to Dr P; everyone is SO friendly, and professional. The staff know me and my husband so well by name, they even ask about our pets! Dr P is also the kindest, most down to earth dentist I've ever met. They are easy to schedule with, and Dr P has seen me several times on short notice due to tooth chipping & a cracked tooth. They are listed as bilingual dentist- English & Polish- and I see that have a lot of Polish patients, but we are English speaking only, so don't let that stop you from coming if you aren't polish Also just in the last couple years she opened up a brand new office, and it is gorgeous! It's worth noting that for many years we had Delta Dental, which they are IN NETWORK with, but then our insurance switched to MetLife, which APG is NOT in network with. After seeing Dr P for 10 years, I did not want to leave this practice over insurance so I had them run my MetLife OUT OF NETWORK insurance & the cost has basically been the same as when they were IN NETWORK. So point being, if they aren't in network with your insurance, try running it OUT OF NETWORK bc you still get some coverage that way, and you may find, like me, that the price difference was minuscule and it was worth staying because of the quality of care & friendliness of their practice. 5/5 star recommend! -Hillary M
