So in a nutshell, Jeremy saved me thousands of dollars and days of time loss at 6pm on a Saturday in 3 hours. Backstory: had brakes previously replaced at Euro Car Masters (AVOID THEM) only to have my brakes squeaking again. After waiting all day for an oil change, was told the rotors were scored and the pads were wrong and my brake fluid was shot. They replaced the brakes unDer warranty and I paid for the brake fluid replacement. Another entire day lost. A week later, my manual clutch feels spongy. Maybe its just me I thought...until tonight (saturday), and my 2020 124 spider wont go into gear. Ai told me there was likely an air bubble in the brake/clutch fluid. Ofc the shop isnt open until monday. Frantically i called mobile mechanics to bleed my slave cylinder. Jeremy texted me back immediately after missing my call to confirm he could do it. An hour or so later, he bled the system but only half the gears worked. He then suspected a linkage misalignment, and broke down the console to realign it manually. Half hour later, all gears worked. 2 for 2 in less time than my oil change took at the other hellhole. I scheduled a battery change for my car after confirming the exact brand and model number over the phone. Communication was good, and the quoted price seemed almost too good to be true. I expected the exact battery we discussed. When the installer arrived, he brought a cheap-looking, completely unknown brand--something that looked like it cost a fifth of what I had specified. He was planning to sell and install the battery for $270. Thankfully, I noticed immediately and asked him to call the dealer he picked it up from. Turned out, the seller was a scam company. I told him to stop the installation. The battery didn't even look like it would fit properly in my car. But he started loosening the bolts anyway. I got pissed and told him firmly to stop. He did. I closed the hood. He then tried to find the correct model from another company but couldn't get it, so I ended it there. Had he installed that junk battery, it could've damaged my car's electronics. I couldn't tell if he was trying to scam me or if he was just inexperienced, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt--he seemed more like a newbie. He had driven from Long Beach, so I gave him $20 for the trip. As he left the garage, he paused and offered to re-tighten the bolt he had loosened. Without that gesture, I probably would've given him a 1-star review. That effort mattered. Also, had he refused to receive the $20, he would have got 5 star review as I firmly know that he just made an honest mistake and tried to make it right. But when I offer $10 first, he complained, and after that, I was no longer sure if he is just trying fast one or not. Basically, $20 was the difference between 5 star and 3 stars. Nice guy overall, but it's hard to tell whether someone's dishonest or just unaware. I hope he simply got tricked by a shady battery seller offering cheap stock at a fake markup. Maybe he believed their pitch and thought he could profit--buying a $60 battery for $135 and charging me $270. In any case, I gave him a chance. It looks like he's trying to do his best, but he needs to learn: never compromise on quality. I ended up going to the dealership. The battery was half-covered under warranty. The full cost was $275, and with the $20 I gave him, the total came to $295--plus a new 84-month warranty. Fair outcome. Lesson learned: I shouldn't have tried to cut corners either. When I realized it wasn't what I ordered, they said "it can still be used." Seriously, if you don't have the product I asked for, you should tell me upfront instead of quietly giving me something inferior. This is a trust and integrity issue. I noticed one of my tires was flat last night before going out to an event with my husband in his car. We returned super late/early this (Sunday) morning, and I knew that I had to take a long trip this evening, and my husband would need his car locally. Our mechanic was out of town until tomorrow (Monday). So I went to Yelp, and after reading several reviews, I sent a message to Mac's Roadside asking how much a mobile service to repair my tire would be. Less than 5 minutes later, Jeremy replied that he could come down and patch it up for a very reasonable price. I told my husband, who was in the garage doing weekend repairs, and he said upon closer inspection the tire would definitely need to be replaced, as the tread was completely worn, so I messaged back, and Jeremy said he could replace the tire - again, for a reasonable price, but it was a little out of our present price range. I let Jeremy know, and he went the extra mile to say he could work with me if that was the case, and said he could get me a slightly used tire (over 85% tread remaining) for a significant discount of the original quote. He said he would need to travel to retrieve the size I needed. In an unfortunate coincidence of time, my phone battery died at the same time I recalled I might have a spare tire (my husband doesn't presently, and we use his car often so it slipped my mind I might have one). I checked to make sure it was there and usable, which it was, which meant we could switch it out, I could use my husband's car for the long trip, and he could use mine locally for the short trip he has at the same time, and then we could bring it to the mechanic tomorrow, seeing as it would no longer be imminent to have a new tire on it tonight. So I messaged Jeremy one more time to let him know I remembered I had a spare and it was no longer an emergency, and we could get our regular mechanic to do it tomorrow (for a price I knew couldn't be fairly price matched since we have credit there) so I thanked him for his amazing customer service and said I would go to Yelp straightaway to give him a great review regardless. Now for the part that made me feel even worse - he had already started going to pick up the tire proactively! I had missed a couple of his messages saying he would just go there to get the tire, which came during the time when my phone turned off! So I apologized profusely for not seeing that! I would definitely recommend Jeremy and the company Mac's Roadside. Not only that, I will definitely contact him first if I ever have need. And last but not least...if you're reading this, please contact them and use their services. I guy named Jeremy come out and attempted to repair my car because check engine light was on $800-1k in parts and labor later he fixed nothing . He said I needed a part to get the check engine light to turn off and to buy it and no additional fees would be charged as it was part of the job and he than wanted to charge me ab additinal $900.00. What I thought was originally a popped tire ended up being a damaged rim. I was told that he can fix the rim and replace the tire. When I questioned if that solution would work he said yes and that he backs up all his work with warranty and would replace my rim and tire if his solution didn't work.
