Honestly I was in a jam and really worried when The Mac store couldnt help you on older.model MacBook Pro 2016 my computer was completely locked out couldn't do anything to fix it. Well I asked Apple for a recommendation and they graciously provided a few local facilities. I picked Mac Rx since it was convenient to me The owner advised me to bring it in the same day and he would see what he could do. It was a mess and I thought I lost everything and needed a new computer To my amazement he checked it out stating it was loaded with virus & malware issues . He provided a very reasonable estimate and I left it for 3 hours and i went to lunch. Then he calls me and I picked it up It's 100% and working like new Not only is he a super nice man& he runs a great business and treats people honestly & professional with respect . This place is great. On one occasion took care of the repair I needed , fast , efficient and friendly. On another occasion gave us a diagnosis and estimate for free but we decided to buy a new MacBook as that one was already quite old and the repair did not seem worth it. read more

Over the years, Chris has always given me great service at a very reasonable price. Recently I called him and asked how much it would cost to get a new keyboard installed in my old MacBookAir. He told me, and while expensive, I was ready to take my old machine up to him and get it done, but he instead told me I was better off getting a blue tooth keyboard and saving the $300+ for a new Mac at some point in the future. I did that and it was a great solution. The blue tooth keyboard lays right over top of the lap top keyboard. He could have charged me for the repair and new keyboard, but he decided to save me a bunch of money. That is the way Chris has always been in my experience with MacRx. This place is will throw you off when you walk in, but you will not be disappointed when you are finished. I had two old macbooks that didn't work and Chris saved all the information off of them. Chris isn't the most personable person, (although he seems to try!) However I am not paying him to be my friend, so for the other reviews that don't like his personality, I say get over it. Thank you, thank you, thank you. My computer working great. I purchased it used in May from MacSales in Chicago as an emergency replacement, and the case was a bit mangled by the previous owner. My Mac qualified for the MacBook Pro battery recall program which also included a new top part of the case. Now my case (the part around the keyboard) is brand new with the battery replacement. I appreciate that the owner was able to diagnose and discharge the battery remotely before I had to bring it in -- all the way from St. Pete. I got a lot done on the computer during the week's time the part was ordered. I am very happy with the work and the owner accommodating my work schedule. The pandemic closed the Tampa Apple Store and left the few area authorized Apple Repair shops jammed with work. One Tampa shop stated on their website that they weren't accepting repair work at this time! I didn't even call. If you need Apple warranty work done on Mac I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mac Rx. read more

Horrid service!!!!! I was referred here by the Apple store in Sarasota for an issue w my 2012 MACBook Air. I arrived to find a table outside (at a strip mall mind you) that said "computer drop off"... and signs all over that say in all caps "DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR". The man came to the door and opened it and asked if I was picking up a laptop- I told him I wasn't and that I just had a question. He proceeded to tell me to call him on his phone, shut the door, wrote his number on a piece of paper, opened the door and handed that to me, then closed the door and locked it. So... While standing OUTSIDE the door I call him (he's sitting in a chair right inside) and ask my question. He proceeds to talk to me while I am standing outside his door at a strip mall, while he sits in a chair right inside!!! He tells me I won't need an appt and the computer should be done within an hour... but to come back between 11am and 1pm Mon- Fri (it was about 230pm on a Thursday when I was there)... keep in mind the stores hours are 9am-4pm Mon-Fri. Don't get me wrong... I completely get being cautious and safe due to covid... but if your honestly so scared that you are treating customers sooo poorly, then you shouldn't be open!!! This was extremely unprofessional and quite childish. I would NEVER in a million years recommend this place!!! Find a place that values their customers. read more

Wow, Chris exceeded all my expectations and more. I was in dire straights as my computer crashed and I had no backup. Apple couldn't help me and I had to wait in line for hours in their store with my three children even though I had an appointment. When they got to me, they just said we can't help, which is crazy and so incredibly stressful. One woman had been there for over 8 hours. I had almost lost hope and felt really bad for not backing up my stuff. Chris made no promises, but when I picked up my computer he had worked miracles. Now I have access to things I haven't been able to retrieve for years. He didn't just fix what I wanted, he fixed things I had no idea could be fixed. What a miracle! I called Apple to repair my computer and they referred me to this place. The guy (Mr.Rively), do not listen to people, last week I told him specifically that I replaced my battery and the PC never turned on. He said just return the battery. Then he called me telling me that it was the battery, it was ordered and replaced. When I went today to pick up my computer, I specifically asked him about the computer turning on, he said:" It should have some charge" He later admitted that he never ran any diagnostics on the computer!!! After 3 trips to the store and a really bad attitude, he screamed back that it was a bad logic circuit!! and never explained or listened. Had many computers fixed and or set up by Chris, always excellent work and reasonable pricing.

Went to this store and the guy spent 2 minutes "diagnosing" my computer's problem before telling me I needed to pay him $700 to replace the logic board. I went to the Apple store two days later, and they quoted me $475 to replace the logic board, but ultimately the work wasn't even necessary and it turns out my computer is fine. The people at Apple told me this guy was being blatantly dishonest by quoting me such a high price to perform the service. I won't ever go here again. read more

The gentleman charged me $400 to send my MacBook Pro into Apple for a new motherboard when it was later revealed that my computer was perfectly fine (the problem was due to the fact that both of my USB cables had gone bad at the same time). Before I unnecessarily spent the $400 I told him that I would have to go home and back up my files first, but he assured me no; Apple would not go near the memory. Guess what happened? MacBook Pro returned to me formatted; all files gone. Chris conveniently offered to restore my files for an additional $300, though the fee came down to $100 after I pointed out that the files would not have been lost HAD HE NOT TALKED ME OUT OF BACKING UP to begin with. At least 1/4 of my files were not recoverable. I called into Apple to have him reported. The supervisor was incredulous, and I was given a voucher as a way of making up for the poor advice and bad service Mac Rx had given me. One star here is well-deserved, but it feels like bad karma to me. read more

Honesty and integrity puts this business ahead of the rest Wanting to get just six more months of life out of my ancient Powerbook, I called and asked about a new powercord. Was told that a replacement would likely not be cost-effective. I persisted that I wanted to get just a few more months out of it, and the wonderful owner hooked me up with a power cord which did the trick for a very fair price. This was a completely negative experience and I will not return or refer anyone to this location for service. I was referred to this location as a result from the Mac store in Tampa being currently closed. I traveled from Tampa off their referral and the man who is working this location was rude, wants no interaction with the customer and wouldn't listen to issues that I was bringing my computer in for. He had no interest in explaining to me what was necessary and my options. Very rude, and completely unprofessional with a big zero in customer service. I will be calling Mac to report this store and my experience as an Apple owner. The guy working this location would be better off working behind a closed door with no personal interaction. After leaving my computer because of having no other options at that time, he told me he would transfer my documents to my other computer but didn't give me time to go over the specs of my other computer. Since he purposely chose to not offer any help, he had to call me after I left to let me know there wasn't enough storage and tied me to purchasing his external hard drive. I would have been happy to leave the one I already owned if he had just given me 5 minutes of adequate customer service. Therefore I ended up with an additional $89 to my cost. After looking at other reviews I'm noticing a pattern in his lack or interest to take time to help his clients and obviously overcharging or just throwing out fees he hasn't confirmed. He is obviously terrified by Covid and if that is the case then he should stay at home and not put himself in a position where he has to work with the public. Along with his mask he wears gloves that I think are meant to be used for venomous snake handling. He won't open the door and won't get near your car or take the pen that you use to sign. Had a cracked screen on my iMac. Called Mac RX, spoke to Chris and he offered me a used screen for less than half the price of a new one. Couldn't get to Sarasota for the replacement for a while. Chris sold the used screen on Ebay. Understandable. So I figured I would have to get the new one and spend a few dollars more than I had planned. This morning I get a call from Chris, a month after the initial contact. He has another used screen. Am I still interested? Absolutely!! So I packed up the Mac, drove up to Sarasota and he replaced it in 10 minutes at the same reasonable price initially quoted. A VERY good guy!!! I made an appointment with them through apple.com complete with a day, time, description of the problem, and a case id#. What I found instead was a "no appointments necessary" type of business that was being run like a barber shop, with a somewhat abrasive and flustered tech who seemed overwhelmed. My laptop keyboard stopped working for some reason, and the closet apple store is an hour away, so I decided to come here. The service was terrible, the guy needs an aditude adjustment. When we talked on the phone, he said that he'd check out the laptop, free of charge, so I drove 20 minutes to get to fruitville. When I arrived, I explained to him that it randomly stopped working and he said "it's 400 dollars to replace the keyboard" without taking a look at my laptop. but I didn't care, I took out my laptop and showed him anyways because 490 is ridiculous! When I was showing him how some keys work, and some times the trackpad is only right click, he didn't even bother listening to me or looking (I thought it could've been a connection problem) He was obviously irritated at me(god knows why) and kept insisting on me paying 400 dollars rudely. long story short, go to the apple store or anywhere else but here! read more

Not sure about going to "authorized" centers. Had display problem with Mac Pro Retina. Brought it in here over a year ago for a mouse problem and he sent it to apple. About 350 dollars later I was told that the mouse is attached to the battery and I had to buy the whole thing. Fine, now, when I went back for my display item, it urned from "might be a plug I can fix", to "tier one, 350? dollars" to a phone call, "612 dollars". I get it back today, he says they replaced the board and battery (again???) along with speakers (sounded fine to me before) and a logic board (the one thing that made sense). I remarked that I had brought it to him over a year ago and "he" replaced the mouse and battery board already. He shot back quick, "I would never do that, I'd send that out". Well, that's what I meant. Apparently, he's right. I don't need to go to him to send things to the apple store. I can drive there. And, that is what I'll do for now on. read more

went to this store as an apple certified center to fix a problem with the hard drive as an apple recall. it required a back-up which i did not know how to do. he told me it would only take a few steps but wanted $90 to do it. i asked if i could do it myself then in his store as i had already made an appointment with him the night before and arrived 20 mins early but he refused and insisted that i left the premises and do it in my car.( the store was completely empty and i had the first appointment so it was not as if he was busy! ) i did back it up in the car but obviously will not be returning for the free apple service. i would drive the 25 miles again to anybody else! read more

I brought my G-4 laptop there for a linecord problem (the plug had gotten distorted sideways). He said to leave it as he would have to send it to main plant). He downloaded my hard drive but forgot to reinstall it when I picked up the unit. I turned it on and had NOTHING! I brought it back and he told me he had wiped out the disc. He offered to dig up what he could but lost much of my applications, pictures and music. he then wanted to charge me for all the time he took to try to find the lost material! I had to bring my iphone to Chris to be exchanged from Apple. I have also contacted Apple on this matter as they referred me. I don't think I have ever been treated so poorly at any business ever. I was asking about the restriction passcode so we could erase my old iphone before sending it to apple. He was so rude and down right nasty when I was asking. I was confused about whether it is the same as the unlock. He basically told me to stop asking him and also that there was nothing h e could do, I would have to send the phone with out erasing ALL my personal data pictures etc. He would not answer any questions he just kept saying "I don't Know" and cutting me off everytime I began to speak. I literally was almost in tears with his extreme rudeness. I also knew that Apple would have a solution to this. He is supposed to be an authorized Apple dealer etc. So with no help from Chris I called apple and found a extremely simple resolution to erase the phone. All I had to do was go to find my iphone and erase from there. I was so offended and upset when leaving MAC RX I will never recommend his crappy service to anyone.He needs a serious attitude adjustment. I am shocked in his customer service. He has signs about how important the customers are and the care they will receive while there.We ll let me tell you he was not willing to help me or to listen to anything I had to say or ask. I purchased a used laptop from him and I was referred to him by a friend that had used him many times in the past. The battery was not that good and he said that he would find me a better "used" one, which I thought was acceptable. After 2 months of not hearing from him, I checked with him to see if he had found one yet, at first his reply was "No, not Yet" , then I wasn't even getting a response. After 5 months I asked him again I then reminded him of my purchasing the laptop via a referral of a previous client and asked him if he was concerned with his customer service and satisfaction. I requested a credit of $50.00 towards the purchase of a new battery that I would purchase on my own (which I could get a brand new one on line for $50.00) he finally answered me and said that he would give me a credit towards a purchase of a new battery, from him, at $125.00.
