This guy charged a total of $530 to fix a Keyboard module and electronics in my guitar -which includes a diagnostic charge Guitar was in there for 3 months along with the keyboard module and they both never got fixed so I paid a storage fee basically. Keyboard module still doesn't work. He didn't even have a midi cable there lol I'm thinking---isn't that what you do for a living? I told him (since it was far away) that I would pick up the keyboard module with the guitar. I called each week and each week he said the guitar would be done this week. I took my Yamaha CK 88 to them for a repair on December 1, 2025. It is now January 8 and I haven't heard anything from them and they will not answer the phone. It's as if the business is closed down. We have been coming here for about 6 years now. And we have referred others who have also been very pleased. We have brought everything from phones, to laptops, to christmas tree lights. Best Buy Geeks accidentally erased my hard drive and said there was nothing anyone could do to fix. The Industry Standard Techs were able to retrieve about 80% of the content. The guys at IST are AMAZINGLY skilled! I brought in a vintage microwave oven that a home-appliance repair guy told me needs parts on the circuit board replaced and that he was not the one to do so. Since this unit is special to me, I discovered IST as one of the few companies that could desolder and resolder electronic parts. Not only did they identify the correct parts, but they were able to get hold of substitutes for discontinued parts, put them in my unit, clean the unit, adjust the fan. The unit repaired by them now works better than ever. IST guys are not very talkative, and I had to wait patiently, but they ultimately did great and at a very fair price. I'm a bit surprised by all the negative feedback, I have never had anything but positive experience's with this company. Our business has done business with them for more than 20 years. I think the problem is, upset people tend to be more vocal than happy people. Try not to buy into these negative reviews, every business has upset customers for one reason or another. Yes the shop has a bit of clutter, but that's because so many people bring them TV's, PC's, etc....And most of those people are repeat customers. If you are curious how a company can be in business for 30 years, it's called repeat business and quality work. If you are concerned about price, call Best Buy or some huge corporate company and you will quickly realize the deal that IST is giving you. read more

By far one of the worst business places I have ever seen. It is amazing to me how they stay in business. Yamaha referred us to this place because they are suppose to be a Yamaha service center. It has been two months now and we are still without our piece of equipment. After about a month of phone calls and visits they told us to come pick it up, it was fixed. We payed the $175.00. It wasn't fixed. Took it back. It still isn't fixed. One person in the place always blames the other person. Told me I could talk to the owner, problem is the owner is an eternal no-show. The fact that the place looks like an electronic dump yard should have been a clue. I will certainly let Yamaha know. If I could give them a minus star I would. read more

I live in New Jersey and have a vacation home on Siesta Key. While staying in Florida my Mitsubishi big screen went haywire and began to smoke. I thought the house would burn down. I went on my cell phone and searched for a TV repair shop. I found and called a place called Industry Standard Technology. My first reaction was you must be kidding me! So I called them and set up an appointment for the following day.An elderly man came in stinking of cigarettes and who knows what else. He opened the back of the TV and in seconds told me it needed a new convergence board. He charged me 75 dollars and had done absolutely nothing. He than told me he would order the board and probably be back in a few day's. I said right sure you will! 2 days later I received a call from I.S.T. saying they would like to come out and replace the board. I was a bit skeptical. The same man wearing short pants unkept hair and stinking of cigarettes came in and within 10 minutes my TV was working again! This time it looked as though it was brand new. The man said he replaced the board and cleaned and adjusted the picture. The man told me I had an extended warranty on the set and refunded my 75 dollars. I said great! The TV was repaired for free. The man told me a warranty company called new was picking up the tab. This man that I thought was some bum off the street ended up being reliable and honest. I would say genious. HORRIBLE! We went there to repair a keyboard. They made us PAY IN ADVANCE, They said it would be done within a week. NOPE! The TECHNICIAN WENT ON VACATION!!!! So they said they would call us...NOPE....never called. I called them back 4 weeks after drop off thinking it would be done. NOPE....the technician went out and had his teeth pulled..they said they would call first thing in the morning and see if it's done because they didn't know yet cause the tech wasn't there. NOPE...NOT DONE AND NO CALL, i had to CALL AGAIN. They said they would call when it's done.....NOPE...no call again!!!! SO HERE WE ARE, I had to call and they said it was done. Im not sure how long ago it was done. I think it's funny that they were quick to call when they wanted payment, but no calls after that. NO. CALLS. AFTER. THAT. 7 total weeks they had this keyboard and NOT ONE CALL. Never again, i'll pay extra to go 2 hours away (the only other repair shop for keys)...im reporting to the better business bureau as well. read more

My initial interaction with Frank and IST goes back to 2015 when I brought him a pair of high end, vintage JBL tower speakers inherited from my late Father. He brought them back to life by re-coning/foaming the subs and passive radiators. Also had the screen re-done to match original material. The process took several weeks, but he was able to deliver on his promise. They sound great and I couldn't be happier. Since then, I've had him work on a vintage Technics receiver and a Samsung flat screen TV. He's delivered every time on what he said he would do and never played games. Wish I had seen the previous review before deciding to go to these guys. I have never written an online review, but feel compelled to do so in this case. I dropped off a board to have two obviously blown capacitors replaced. I was told there it was $25 "upfront" which would be applied to the final charge of 1 hours labor plus parts, however they only provided a ballpark for the parts cost. When I asked about a time frame I was told by one of the friendlier guys he would call in a few hours. Not once did I receive a call from them in 4 days. I called twice and was told they were trying to find the parts(again, over 4 days). When I asked about an estimated time because nothing had been done since I dropped the board off on Monday (this is Thursday) I was told that they had no idea, they might find the parts in 2 minutes or 2 days. Being that I did not to carry this out for another week as I am sure they would I decided to retrieve my board. Upon pick up the guy at the counter became very agitated and rude when I asked for a refund on the $25 I paid upfront as a estimate/diagnostic fee since nothing had been done and I was aware the two capacitors where blown when I dropped it off. He refused again and gave me the impression he was about to start yelling obscenities if I decided to argue my point (I have worked with many guys like this). Even though I was given no firm estimate on price or time, doubtful any diagnostic was actually performed and experienced the total lack of customer concern or service usually associated with a reputable business, I decided they were not going to do the right thing regardless and that I just had to accept being ripped off rather than waste my time arguing with them further to no avail. At that time the friendlier (however no more concerned) guy assures me they checked the board and everything is fine except for the two capacitors which I originally wanted replaced. He tells me I can buy that whole board for about $90 or find one cheaper on Ebay! $90 bucks! Then why the hell are they trying to find capacitors to replace and charge me $60+ parts and tax which would easily be around $90. They should have just informed me of that and ordered me a new board. I would have been happy to buy it from them for the honest advice. I then just took my board and left. They didn't return the towel I brought it in on so it wasn't damaged in transit. I realized this at the car, but it was not worth having anymore interaction with them, which I am sure would have been more negative BS from the longer haired counter guy who got so defensive and angry at the thought of a customer requesting a refund due to crappy service. Upon returning home I have found the caps online to order myself from numerous online vendors as well as gave Ebay a look as suggested. Several complete working boards for around $45! These guys may enjoy tinkering with electronics as a hobby when it suits them, but they are no business you want to waste your time with. A business is actually concerned with positive customer experiences. These guys just dont give a sh*t. At least it was only $25 and not 3 weeks and $90 for a crappy experience. read more

Stay away! I can't recommend this as a place to get a TV repaired. I took my big screen Samsung tv in to be repaired because they claimed to be Samsung experts. They said they would call me back, but never did. After nearly three weeks and paying a $25 diagnostic fee, they finally said they"thought" what the problem was. They said it would cost $775 to fix!! They then tried to get me to buy another smaller second hand tv they had at their shop for $600. I suspected they do this to get customers to leave their unrepaired tv's at their shop so they can sell them another repaired one. Then they fix the tv the customer thought was not worth fixing, and they make a huge profit. After this I decided I was done doing business with IST. I took it to the shop in my van, but didn't have access to it for pickup, so I asked what the rate would be to deliver it to my home. They said it would be the same rate as if they picked it up and delivered it after having it repaired- $75 one way!! I rented a trailer and picked it up myself for $15. The shop is a total disorganized mess, with old tv's and dusty electronic equipment stacked up on both sides with a narrow trail made for customers to walk through. It looked like an episode of Hoarders. I must agree with a previous person who said he was surprised they are still in business. I'm just glad I got my tv back without them damaging it. read more

We were extremely disappointed with the service from this company. We had a problem with our large screen Samsung TV (which they say the specialize in). When the tech came out he seemed to be confused about what the problem was. He had to call Samsung support for help. Then he told us it needed a part that was going to cost $150.00 and he would have to return with it. He charged us $75 for this first call which would be applied to the total. When he came back the 2nd time he installed the part, but the problem was not fixed. He then told us he would need to take it into his shop and do a diagnostics there. He promised he would call in a few days. Several days passed and we did not get a call. We finally called them and they said they still needed more time. But they would call my cell the following week. We were out of town for 10 days and never heard back. When we returned we called and they said they ordered another part and would call us back. Again they never called when they said they would. Finally we called and they told us the repair would cost several $100's more than they first quoted. We obviously did not do the work and had to scrap the TV on top of the $75 they charged us to do nothing! In these horrible times one would think that customer service should be everyone's priority. Obviously not with this company. We do not recommend them, at all!!!!! read more

I broke the screen on my 58 Plasma TV and needed a new one. It was a long shot but I called and spoke to "the owner". He said he just happen to have one there and to bring in my TV so he could swap them out. When I got there a few days later and the guys were tech guys were helping me get the very heavy TV out of my car. The "owner" was not there. I told them they were going to swap out screens with the one they had. The techs said, what screen? I told them the story and I was told they had one. They told me, they do all the repairs and would know if a 58 Plasma screen was there but if the owner told me he had one then they do and they will find out where it was. Should have known then something was wrong. They said they would call me later on in the day and let me know what they found out and charged me a $35 fee to look at the TV to find out the problem. AKA a "broken screen" very obvious I thought. So no call for 3 days so I called them. Still no one has looked at it. A week goes by so I check again. Still nothing they will call I hear. Two weeks later I get a call saying it needs a new screen and a replacement is about $1100. WOW!! Going back to the first call, they told me the same thing. I told him I was not going to pay that because I could get a new TV for that price. Thats when he told me they had a screen there for $500. They just want to get you in to charge you a fee and then when your TV is useless to they want what to keep it and use it for parts. This place is a very dishonest. Avoid at all cost. You are nothing but parts and a $35. fee to them. read more
