My MacBook Pro was instantly disabled by a cup of Cape Breton tea. It was the worst computer experience of my life. Mainly because I had neglected to back up VITAL data. I kicked myself all the way to Dartmouth to Mac East. Never been there before, but I had no choice. The prognosis was poor. A wet logic board is never good. The data storage is attached to the logic board. My desperation made me ignore any poor reviews. SO happy I did. The folks at Mac East (Kathleen and Barry) were friendly and professional in how they explained the many steps needed to try to revive a wet MacBook. They under-promised and - WOW - did they OVER-deliver! I a week they called to say they had been successful. The Mac was working and the data saved AND backed-up. Honestly, I would have paid them $1000. They charged me $85. $85! Mac East turned my worst computer experience into my best. TEN STARS! read more

We have been dealing with Maceast for many years having bought our first iMac there and since then two iPads and a MacBook Air. I also bring my iPhone questions to them. We have had nothing but the highest level of service. We have used them for both business and personal and really appreciate the quick turnaround time especially with business related Issues. I am from out of province. My ipad was old and done. I took it to Mac East and they spent time trying to get it up and running but because of its age there was little to be done. I thought about waiting to get home to buy a new one and then because they had been so accommodating I decided to buy it in Nova Scotia. Best decision - They set up and transferred all my information to my new device, responded to my calls immediately and the customer service I received would never have been possible if I had purchased in a big box store. Twice I contacted this company for help with repairs and twice I got a short, blunt answer: "Can't help you. Thanks!" I feel like going an extra step and explaining why, and perhaps suggesting another route I could go down would have went a long way as far as customer service goes. There are two possibilities here: a) MACeast puts all of their staff members through a rigorous customer-service bootcamp b) MACeast only hires individuals with an extreme aptitude for A+ customer-service Either way... things work out well for the customer. No screw ups or surprises, no price-gouging, no bullshit. Just really good, friendly, honest service from people who know exactly what they're doing. I took my iMac here over a year ago, before Covid. It had a bad fan on it. They called me on Feb 26/20 to tell me that they did not have fan and would hold my computer till they got one. No time line was mentioned. When I decided that I would no longer bother to fix it since it was taking so long I called last week to go and pick it up. Was told it had been recycled. I asked why would you recycle my computer . well it was 10 years old. That computer had thousands of my personal pictures on it . I again asked why you would recycle a personal computer without permission. He claimed that they tried several times to contact me which i know was an out right lie because they only had one phone number for me and when i went through my phone log ( which I never delete) there was no missed calls from them and the only answered call was on the 26th of Feb. I got what i consider a very rude apology after which I hung up because I was so upset. He claimed that the longest that they keep computers would be 6 months but that was not something they had informed me of when they said they would keep it till they got a fan. Never will I ever take another computer near them for service. read more

I took my iMac that I purchased used in because I was unable to set up the IOS software due to the fact the computer is older. I dropped it off at 430pm Thursday, and received a call that it was fixed at 930am Friday the next day. He also only charged me for the one hour even though I believe he ran diagnostics. I 100% recommend these guys over the Mac store. The so called "apple geniuses" are really not that. These guys at Mac East are fantastic read more

I went there with the intention of rebooting my os and restoring data from my external hard drive back to my computer. When I got my computer and external hd back all the data was gone. It didn't make sense to me, so I returned to their store (several times) and never got any explanation, and they refused to admit they made a mistake. After 3 weeks of trying to recover my data I now have it back, and there are still missing files. I thought this place was extremely unprofessional. I wish I could use time machine to go back before I visited Mac East. The worst! read more

As a big supporter of local business, and a fan of the great location, I wish I had a better experience. A year old Macbook Pro, ruined. Almost $100 in an analysis to confirm what I already knew. They were honest, knowledgeable and friendly in the beginning. Unfortunately the events that followed after I heard the results didn't reflect my first impression of the business. Being that it was not a technical issue and yet just bad luck, I was prepared to eat the cost and purchase a brand new one. I didn't expect any sympathy, but the salesmanship was almost as bad as the condition of my computer. I was completely irked by statements made and rubbed entirely the wrong way. I unfortunately was left to purchase my new computer at a big box store. The same spec, brand new computer was $50 less and I was able to barter a free hard-drive data transfer. While at Maceast they no doubt see people lose $1500 computers every single day, for a multitude of reasons, they should remember that the customer (me) doesn't lose one every single day, and that every situation is different. This likely won't deter me from using Maceast again, nor should it for you. However, I, as a paying customer of an expensive high quality item, (and not a pair of socks), deserve good salesmanship. read more
