Note: this review is based on an experience using this retailer site as a UPS access point and not base on their dry cleaning service. I found this retail store on UPS's website because I had to drop off a small package before rushing to a md appt. According to UPS's website, the definition of an UPS Access Point is as follows; A UPS Access Point™ is a participating retail outlet, such as a grocery store or petrol station that serves as a convenient and efficient UPS parcel delivery and retrieval location. You can also drop off labelled and prepaid UPS Returns®parcels at any UPS Access Point location. The Korean gentleman that assisted me just told me to leave my package at a certain spot and did not scan my package. When I asked him why he doesn't scan the package he reluctantly said, "there is no fee for the scan but tip is appreciated." He then took the scanner and scanned my package and expected me to tip him for doing his job. I believe tipping is a voluntary practice and a customer should not be told to tip an individual especially when that individual did not provide adequate service. By signing your business up to be a UPS Access Point, that means this is a service you chose to provide the people in the neighborhood with. His behavior makes me wonder if he would "accidentally" lose my package since I had not provided him with a tip. And had I been a customer of their dry cleaning services, is tipping an unspoken expectation to ensure you get your clothes cleaned properly? This gentlemen left such a poor experience in my books that I would not consider doing any business with this retailer in the future. read more

Macs cleaners lost my laundry and tried to give me scraps from other peoples laundry. They refused to acknowledge their error and refused to pay even a portion of the cost of replacement. I did agree to allowing them to "pay" with free laundry service for a short time, BUT THEN THEY STAINED MY LAUNDRY AND AGAIN REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. Mistakes happen, but a business needs to take responsibility. And Mac's repeatedly failed. read more

Went back today NOT for the laundry service but to pick up a package from ups. This place is a ups access point, package was left there without asking for permission. The guy at the front desk basically threaten me by saying "how dare you to come back after the review on Yelp." Obviously I will never go back since they burnt my cotton shirt. But I don't think he should threaten the customer, even if it's just a ups service. DON'T go to this place. Horrible attitude. There are other spots in the area that's nicer and cheaper. read more

My girlfriend and I have been going to Mac's the past three years. The quality of service, whether dry cleaning, fluff n fold, and alterations, has always been great and they always provide a quick turnaround. The owner Mike (not Mac, but you can call him that if you want to) is just about the friendliest dude on the planet and will go out of his way to make sure you are well taken care of. I brought a pair of dress pants here to get hemmed and was pleased with the timing and quality of the work, so I stepped it up for more some more complicated work and was thrilled with that too! He handled all of these projects fantastically: -lengthen a pair of I bought online that were too short (he took the cuff out to get the fabric) for $19 -repaired a hole I tore in the leg of a pair of wool suit pants (not on the seam, so it was really tricky) for $15 -take in a size 46 suit to make it fit like a size 42 suit - I think it fits better now than it did when I was heavier and it was new. $49 for the jacket and $19 for the pants read more

I've been going here for over a year and have been happy with the prices and quality of the cleaning. I've taken several items back when stains haven't come out, and he's taken them back free of charge. I've also had buttons break on shirts, which he doesn't mind replacing either. I recently started doing laundry here and wasn't aware of the 10lb minimum. I told him this and he only charged me what I brought. Some of the other posters here are correct about losing items. Fortunately for me, I don't bring too many valueable things in the laundry (most get laundered) but I do end up with other people's undershirts and socks on occassion, which I bring back. I'm not sure if I've lost anything or not yet, if I have it hasn't been anything I care about. read more

I like the people here quite a bit and the dry cleaning is a bit expensive, but just fine. This is, however, the first dry cleaner/laundry place to have lost any of my clothes. Despite my crazy lack of free time, I've actually been doing my own laundry lately as the free time to replace lost clothes is as impossible to come by as washing them myself. It's sad. They did give me back most of the cost, but it lowers my faith. If there is a laundry in NYC that will do a great job at washing clothes - actually separate and tumble dry those things that need to be etc - I haven't found it. Here's hoping that my next building has washing machines. read more

Short version: make sure you thoroughly inspect EVERYTHING when you pick it up, and don't depend on Mac's if you absolutely must have something ready by a certain date. Longer version: I needed a suit drycleaned for a Saturday wedding. I dropped off the suit jacket and pants on Wednesday for a Friday afternoon pickup. The price was $14. I was in a hurry, so I paid, took the suit, and left. The next day, I removed the suit from the plastic and was SHOCKED at the careless, cursory pressing job that Mac Dry Cleaners had done. Not everything was bad: the bottom half of the pants legs were crisply pressed, with a nice crease in the middle, and the jacket and pants were very clean. However, the lapels of the jacket were curved and sticking out away from the body of the jacket, rather than neatly pressed as they're supposed to be. The arms of the jacket had clearly not been pressed at all; they were even more wrinkled than when I dropped it off. And the crotch/seat area of the pants were so wrinkled that it was almost comical. With the hour remaining before the wedding, I managed to steam out some of the wrinkles, but the lapels and arms still looked fairly ridiculous. Be very wary of them. I would carefully inspect everything they give you while you are at the pickup counter, especially the details. Don't just give the suit a quick glance - it will be well-cleaned, but the little things - lapels, creases, collar - are where the danger lies. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR DRY CLEANING Wash and fold is totally fine and I would use them again for that, but ALL OF MY CLOTHES (hundreds of dollars worth) have come back smelling horribly. I want to like this place because it is so convenient for me and they delivery, but I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE. They are so rude and even when they tried to send them back to get cleaned (which took more than 2 WEEKS) they still came back SO smelly to the point where I have to get them cleaned again. Pretty good laundry service, it's very fast and the guy seems very capable and friendly. However, I was pretty dissatisfied with the quality of the hemming. I wanted to shorten my dress pants by about 1.5 inches since the hem had been frayed (I have to remember to roll up my pants when I walk in flip-flops to work). But the new hem they made was sewn with a sewing machine, and it wasn't even fully straight! And cost $16! At that price I was expecting a nice invisible hand-stitched hem. read more

This used to be Royal Choice up on 23rd street between 8th and 9th avenues. their lease expired and last month they relocated in greenwich village on west 4th street, a few doors down from claude's patisserie. my loss. to live successfully in this city, it's essential to find local services that work for you, that you can count on, build a relationship with, that never let you down, in order to foster a feeling of community. you need that kind of confidence and trust or the city will simply make you nuts. Royal Choice was one of those places for me. i set up a charge account and i was billed automatically. they let me bring my bike inside. my shirts and pants were cleaned and pressed, when i needed tailoring it was done quickly and competently with no hassles, nothing was ever lost or damaged, everything was on time. when extra processes were needed, they were done without even asking me. when i bought clearance items with dirt or stain damage, they would let me know if they could be cleaned or if i should return them (i know, i'm shameless, but what amazing deals can be had on some beautiful clothing!). cleaning is not the most glamorous topic to talk about, but then neither is real life as far as i can see... when i wrecked a brand new shirt right after having it cleaned, getting it caught in my bicycle spokes and chain (no i wasn't wearing it at the time), they recognized that it was an expensive shirt and offered to try to clean it up, and were also honest enough to not make false promises, and of course to give me a funny look, as if to say, how the heck did you do that? followed by, we'll try to fix it but don't get your hopes up. then, on their own initiative they ran it through twice and succeeded in getting it back to 95%, which was good enough for it to be wearable. now they've moved downtown, offering the same quality cleaning and tailoring service to the gvill populous, and beyond my walking distance range. lucky you, unlucky me. read more

Do NOT use this place if you care at all about your clothing. This was my first time using this place and I will not be going back again. Not only were my dress shirts shoved at the bottom of the bag when I picked up my laundry, but it also looked as though they had not even been washed. The worst part was that I had asked for 2 pairs of pants to be hang dried because they can't be put in the dryer. I have never had a problem with this request at other places I have used for my laundry. When I got home and took the plastic bag off the pants I found that the people had put my pants in the bag soaking wet! Now my pants STINK of mildew and are likely ruined. read more

I'd been using Mac Cleaners for several years until recently moving out of the neighborhood. The Korean owner is extremely friendly and extremely honest. He will NEVER rip you off, even when it would be so easy. He always does a great job and is not at all overpriced. All my previous dry cleaners have lost or ruined clothes, but not this guy. One early example: Before him, I had always paid for my polo shirts to be dry cleaned. However, in one of my very first experiences with Mac Cleaners, he told me that (contrary to my past experience) my polo shirts can go straight into the laundry; no need for expensive dry cleaning. Basically I was willing and eager to pay through the nose but he would have none of it. Honesty and pride in your business is not always easy to come by these days, but the owner of this place has got it right. I only wish my new neighborhood had such a man. read more

For the neighbored, they are the best. When you walk in don't be alarmed because it's not fancy. If you are very specific with what you want they always do an amazing job. I've been using them since I've moved to the West Village and they always take care of me. They offer delivery and have a very quick turn around. NEVER GO HERE. YOUR CLOTHES WILL BE RUINED. I read the other reviews on this cleaner and knew that it was in a great neighborhood so I figured they would do a great job. I brought several garments, a couple were done nicely. However, two white silk blouses, including my favorite Rag and Bone shirt were RUINED by them. They had some small stains on them when I wanted them to be cleaned, but when I picked them up they had NEW STAINS. BRIGHT BLUE DETERGENT LOOKING STAINS. These were not there when I dropped off the shirts and were clearly a result of them trying to treat the stains on the two shirts with some type of solution. When I brought them back to the cleaner to ask about what happened, the manager just argued with me and told me those marks were there when I dropped them off originally. Not true. These LARGE BLUE STAINS are clearly from some sort of stain detergent not from me, and as someone who works in the dry cleaning business, they should know if their treatments will damage garments or not. I am appalled by this result and am hoping another dry cleaner can get out the damage they have done. Until then, I am out my two favorite blouses and the $500 I spent on them. :/ read more

Don't bring your fine silk blouses here. They ruined mine, even though they knew that it was fine and fragile. I brought it to them to remove a small stain. It needed no pressing. They removed the stain but ironed it as if they were blind, crushing delicate tucks every which way and creating deep wrinkles that I will never be able to remove. When I pointed out what they had done, they essentially blamed it on me. Please find another cleaner for anything you care about. read more

I bought a very nice and a bit expensive dress to attend the wedding of a friend of mine last September. The cotton dress needed a slight adjustment at the waist, nothing big. My boyfriend was pretty satisfied with the quality of their services on his suits, so I gave it a try . They told me that it would be done within a week. It actually took them 12 days to ruin my lovely dress and they made me pay $30, which was obviously a true steal as my dress was not wearable anymore_2 days before my departure to Europe. Luckily for me, I had heard about Meurice Garnment care and about their exceptional services. I did not go at the first place because of their reputation of being extremely pricey. The very friendly and competent staff at their Midtown east location literally saved my dress in 6 hours for $35 only. And the result is stunning!!! So if you want to avoid a nervous breakdown at Mac Dry's, do not let them do anything else than cleaning your clothes. They would not even be sorry for you. read more
