They do a great job with cleaning all sorts of clothes (dresses, sweaters, blankets, black tie outfits, etc.). But, what really sets them apart is the customer service. Chris himself takes personal interest in every one of his customers. And, the others who work for him have the same attention to detail and to the customer. Since 2019, I have only had the best quality cleaning, best customer service and best experience. I highly recommend them. $50. Yes, that is what this establishment charged me to launder (not dry clean) one item -- my daughter's bunny sleeping bag. The sleeping bag is regular machine washable and no special care was required with no stains. Just a simple wash needed for an item that doesn't fit in our washing machine at home. I had misheard the price quote at drop off, thinking $15, which is still quite high but not egregious. Upon pickup, I explained what had happened, and they were unmoved. I told them that no human being would ever conceive of a $50 charge for washing one item and surely he could honor the price I heard. No dice, no negotiation, no remorse. The only way to get back my daughter's beloved bunny sleeping bag which originally cost $35 was to shell over $50 to this borderline criminal enterprise. Never again. Greenwich Cleaners picks up my laundry, washes it, folds it, and brings it back to me, which already makes me incredibly happy. (I'm not one of those folks who claim that doing laundry is "zen.") Not only that, but Chris, who I believe is the owner or manager, answers the phone every time, knows me by name, and is unfailingly polite, cheerful, and friendly. He picks up the laundry when he says he will and brings it back spot on time. No matter how big the job, he gets in done efficiently. I've only used them a few times for dry cleaning--I try to avoid clothes that are dry-clean only--but the few jobs I've given them in this department have been done well. Your affinity to your dry cleaner is at risk only from an extremely bad incident or when you move. Dry cleaners realize this and are clever to only do the bare minimum to keep you as a recurring revenue source. Greenwich Cleaners is no exception. The staff is very down-to-earth and friendly. Their tailoring and alterations are good for hemming, adding buttons, reducing or loosening the waistline, etc. so long as they are working with uncomplicated shirts, slacks and suits. The dry cleaning is expensive but prices are at par with other cleaners' in the area. Their work is done on their premises, which is comforting. I had one significant incident (lost shirt) but they compensated me for a fair, depreciated value when I threatened to leave. I recently noticed on their system that my revenues are almost $1,700 over 3.5 years. That makes me a valuable customer ... reflected in the free lint remover I get each holiday season. Nili Lotan (higher end women's label in the neighborhood) recommended me to this cleaner when I had a major stain on one of their delicate light-colored silk dresses. At first, I thought to take it to Madame Paulette in Midtown because I assumed only a high-priced world renowned cleaner could do the job right. MP told me that there was no way to get the stain out. They could try but at a minimum it would remove the sheen from the satin. While I appreciated their honesty, I felt I was completely out of luck! For a second opinion, I brought the dress to Greenwich and they said they'd do their best... When I picked the dress up, the stain was COMPLETELY gone and the dress remained in perfect condition! I have no idea how they did it! They are miracle workers!! I highly recommend them for your most delicate and most difficult stains!! read more

He cleaned my Chanel jacket with such meticulous detail that it made me regret spending a fortune at Madame Paulette ($45), Jeeves ($40) and Hallak ($35) all these years. He even knew to remove the buttons and sewed them back better. I didn't ask the price until I got the jacket back. When I found out it was only $25 it prompted me to write this review. Nice people but I am not sure what they really do: the clothes come back with all the stains perfectly intact - except that the stains have now been chemically set, which makes it next to impossible to get them out. This happened several times, and the stains were not particularly severe in each case. I would say the establishment is good for a re-fresh, but not for the actual cleaning. read more

Simply THE WORST dry cleaner I have ever had. They ruined a brand new very expensive sweater and no one can give me any answers about it. everytime i call or go in there they take my number and say that management will call me back. They never call me back and I always have to reexplain my issue when i call because they do not have it noted in the system. Its terrible customer service and i have been following them for a reply for more than 7 months now! There are plenty of good cleaners in the area so dont waste your time trying this one. Try Franklin Cleaners for less expensive items and King Cleaners on 6th Ave for precious garments. They are both excellent. read more

I took in two brand new, unworn dresses to be pressed only. Despite going in two hours before closing time, they couldn't do them until the next day, but they agreed to do them before 8.30am, so I figured ok. I thought it was fairly pricey (12 bucks per item) but the kicker was that one of the dresses now has horrible marks on one side as if they tested the pressing on a setting which was too hot. Why you would do that on a conspicuous area is beyond me. My advice: don't risk it. read more

Dry cleaning is fine. However, I certainly wouldn't trust them with alterations again. I had two pairs of pants hemmed here - I specifically asked them to keep the original hems, and I paid $18 per hem, figuring I was paying extra for the special request. When I came to pick them up, one pair of pants was unevenly hemmed, and neither one had the original hem. There's no fixing it, unless I want some new capris. I am stuck wtih $300 worth of pants that now look like a seventh grade home ec sewing project. Ugh. read more

Let me start by saying that I was a frequent customer until..... I would frequent this cleaner often and have only had two experiences when the item was not cleaned (which is pretty good considering). The first time, they kindly took the garment back and I picked it up the next day bright eyed and bushy tailed. The second time.... was not so easy. They kindly took the garment back but when I picked it up for the second time I noticed that it still was not cleaned and it was steamed to harshly because the seams were showing through the fabric. When I brought it to the attention of the gentleman that is always at the front counter (the manager I'm assuming) he said that he would not clean it and that I can take my jacket back. As I waited for him to finish, he also stated that I have had them clean another item over and that they DON'T NEED MY SERVICE. I kindly replied that I only return items that are not properly cleaned, which is a reflection of the establishment not my behavior. I then asked him to explain the root of his hostility and denial of service since I had not been a poor customer and I didn't hear a peep! Shame.... If I had the time, I would report the business to the Better Business Bureau but this is New York, who the hell has the time... On to the next one folks, I don't need to get jabbed by purses on the subway and be shoved in the streets when you are supposed to WALK ON THE RIGHT to then patronize unfriendly and unprofessional establishments. read more

I have to say ive been here ONCE. A few days ago we were having lunch at rosemary's and my girlfriend spilled a glass of red wine all over her brand new, first wear, VINCE $400, white blazer sleeve. The wine was all over the outside and poured down into the inside of the sleeve all the way up the lining. I took it off of her and knew it had to be treated ASAP. I run to the corner and see two dry cleaners - one on each opposite corner across the street. So I cross and walk to my left. Run in explain to this guy who wouldn't even look up at me to speak to me like a human being. I finally say excuse me- can u please look at the stain because its wine on white and every minute counts- all he says is "impossible". I say what? Whats impossible? (Your ability to look up? Move ur eyes? Move ur neck? Look at the stain? Remove the stain?) Again, won't even look up and just says "I know, 10 years, impossible." I wanted to slap him. I rush out and jet to the other one I saw- greenwich ave cleaners- rush in and explain- the gentleman quickly begins to pre treat it while explaining to me that he knows exactly what to do and "u tell your girlfriend no problem I fix, make perfect again, I guarantee." What a difference in service. He takes my info... tells me he will call me the minute its ready. He did. Two days later I get a voicemail telling me its like new and ready for me whenever I can pick it up. $12.00 and great reaction to a customer that's freaking out and delivering on a promise is enough to get my business. USER BEWARE. There is a reason this business has fewer than three stars... Greenwich Cleaners has no system to track their pickup and delivery of dry cleaning. This became abundantly clear when they lost four of my shirts that they picked up from my residence and did not drop back off. After speaking with others in my building, this is not an one-time occurrence, and it is a known problem with Greenwich Cleaners. It's aight. The drycleaning per se is fine. Had a bad experience with their tailoring--I brought in a $1000 tailsuit to have a button near the navel re-sewn (there are 3 buttons on each side, and the lower right one fell off)...and instead they sewed it near the chest!!! Clearly someone just threw it on the table, eyeballed it without lining everything up carefully, and did a hatchet job on it. Of course they repaired it free of charge, but now there's a noticeable hole on the chest of a super-expensive garment. The staff is friendly enough (though get unhappy about credit card purchases if it is under $20), and prices are typical nyc. OK to go to for general wash and fold and dry cleaning/presses, but one should def shop around as neither the service nor the prices stand out. read more

Tailoring is NOT their strength. Brought a pair of womens dress pants to be altered, discussed options for taking in the waist, they were confident it could be done. When I picked them up, the waistband was mangled, really one of the worst sewing jobs I've seen. Bunched, uneven, the stitching is a combination of tight machine stiches and lumpy handstiches. Well my worst nightmare happened last week! I brought my sons pants to be hemmed at another area tailor. My son was to be an usher in my nephews wedding. Thank goodness that I checked the hem shortly after they were picked up, the tailor took them up 4 inches as opposed to 2! Omg! This was 3 days before the wedding! I called every store to try to find the same pants in his size, they were all out of stock! I finally was able to find the pants, but the waist was 2 inches too big. I took them to Greenwich Cleaners, and the nice, young gentlemen behind the counter was a bit ambivalent. He thought taking the pants in at the waist, 2 inches, that the pockets would be too close together, in the back and they would pucker. He consulted with the seamstress and she assured they would look fine. So, the pants would have to be hemmed and waist taken in by the next day! I was so nervous. When my son put the pants on, I was thrilled! Hem was perfect, and the waist , which I knew would be a challenge , looked fantastic! Just as if I had bought them that way! I'm not sure why they have some negative reviews, but we will be back! read more
