I was extremely disappointed with my recent experience at MAC Cosmetics. I came in to return a brush after 41 days, and it was completely unused and still in the original packaging. Instead of being treated with courtesy, I was met with rude and dismissive behavior from the staff. I understand store policies, but there is absolutely no excuse for being unprofessional or condescending to a customer--especially when the item was untouched and clearly resalable. I was made to feel uncomfortable and brushed off and told to "gift it to someone." For a brand that markets itself as professional and customer-focused, this experience fell far short. I left feeling disrespected and frustrated, and it has definitely made me decide will no longer shop at MAC in the future. A store credit would've been more than fine but the employee was not willing or capable of offering customer service. read more

I am glad that some stores are are back open and giving some sense of normalcy. MAC is my go to store for make up needs. I was immediately greeted and asked if I needed any assistance. Currently due to covid precautions, no sampling of ANY items and make overs are halted. I have quite a few points so I probably have 3 make over sessions to redeem once things resume to full operations, if that ever happens. I came in to repurchase powder foundation and get inspiration to my Halloween Wonder Woman comic inspired costume. Normally I would've gone and had the make over. I was informed that the Back to Mac program is still running. I have so many empties to return and it's good to know I can redeem the empties to treat myself. When it comes to makeup, I haven't the slightest what I am doing. This has been a source of frustration for me on several special occasions throughout my life, which is amusing because my mom wouldn't leave the house without putting it on. I guess she never took the time to teach me, and to be honest as a woman who spent 8 years in the military I probably wouldn't have paid attention anyways. I'm not the kind of girl that spends hours primping unless it's a special occasion. So with my wedding come up, I stopped in the MAC store hoping to get some help picking colors to wear the day of my wedding, and I was delighted to find out that not only could they help me with colors, but they also give makeup consultations and lessons! A lesson, I could definitely benefit from that. Believe it or not guys, us women aren't inherently born with the knowledge of how to shade our eyes. It was a little pricey, but for me it was WELL worth it. If you do a lesson here you get a discount on your purchases afterwards for 30 days, I think it was like 10 or 20% something like that. I walked away with a makeup chart of how to put the makeup on after doing my lesson, and of course a bag full of stuff! The artist I worked with was really awesome, and made me feel comfortable asking "stupid" questions that I should know the answers to. Later, I was really grateful to have the makeup chart, as it turned out the salon I went to the day of my wedding made me look like a street walker they laid it on so thick. I washed my face and went by my chart and recreated the look I wanted the right way. It was a wedding saver. MAC products are a little expensive I guess (what makeup isn't), but IMO so worth it. For indecisive make-up lovers who are less than application-savvy, or shoppers who seek creative insight, this is a definitely a gem worth bookmarking - though in the future, I may call ahead to see if a certain artist is working. Essentially, I need someone to practically read my mind and fill in the blanks with expertise; meaning, I'm not the easiest customer to please. Turns out, such a person exists. Her name is Aria, and she made my birthday "self-treat" splurge a productive and delicious experience - to the degree I felt it deserved a breakdown. In each country I've called home, I was a reg at the local 'MAC shack'. Upon reflection, and with consideration of limitations, I feel Aria provided the most impressive service I've received in a MAC store in any country I've visited thus far - this being the 9th - and in spite of stringent COVID restrictions. In accordance with COVID protocol, customers are prohibited from touching ANYTHING (no applying colors to skin, no try-ons, and understandably so, but its particularly vexing with make-up). If not for the benefit of informed staff, I'd advise ordering online and using the 'virtual try-on' feature. I'm sure I'm not alone as I look forward to make-up shopping that includes artists making me look fancy as they teach me tricks! Makes me appreciate these interactions 10 fold... However, COVID did little to deter Aria from blasting through my assorted list of needs. Her listening skills were unhindered by multi-tasking, and I loved her her chic look. I always take notice of whether or not an artist appears "current". I then take note of whether or not their suggestions seem over-biased by their own taste or generation (a pet peeve of mine), and Aria's certainly were not. Rather, she seems to have mastered the art of blending personal experience with observed criteria. I am near phobic regarding decisions, and the options at MAC are overwhelming for me sans guidance. Having spent a decade+ working in TV with pro's doing my make-up, I'd experiment on days off but get discouraged by my lack of training. In short, I adore make-up but I'm over-ambitious. Having staff make suggestions that are conducive to my "style of simplicity" is helpful. I've made many well-intentioned but utterly useless purchases of pretty things that collected dust because their owner lacked the expertise to use them. Perhaps Aria's most noteworthy quality is that she appears to have literally "tried everything" and has archived her personal favorites with nuances to share, along with fantastic taste (her striking, flawless makeup is a testament to this). I left having purchased the 3 products I was expecting (one being a concealer she had to match to my skin on instinct and nailed it); a re-fill of my favorite blush and a mini pigment. I then added a "just-in" eye shadow she suggested after I ran through my list of staples (and it was an absolute hit!), a second (and funkier) mini pigment, a lipliner that apparently does actually do the impossible task of working with an impressive number of colors AND still manages to look fairly natural (it was also on Aria's list of faves and I love it) and a sincere smile. Everyone here is so nice! I was upstairs at Sephora looking to buy a new foundation, but the shade I needed was sold out. On my way to the exit of the mall, I walked past MAC but decided to turn around and give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! I've decided to only use MAC products given my experience with them and the staff at the store. They have great tips for how to use products and how to get the most out of what you buy. This store is terrible and definitely a poor reflection of the Mac brand. I went in and scheduled an appointment for my wife as a Christmas present. They set the specific date and time and told me for her to budget an hour. I purchased a $200 gift card for her to use. When she showed up, they said they don't even do appointments after I had watched the girl enter the appointment the week before. Either it is a huge bait and switch or the person in the store today just didn't want to do their job. My wife was in tears after what was supposed to be a special present for her. I've been a MAC cosmetic user for 12 years so I pretty much know what I want and usually am in and out of the store within a few minutes. In the past, if I did have questions or needed help I felt that MAC workers at previous locations either take too long or rush their time with me. I have tan skin and just moved from California where my foundation would generally stay between 2-3 dark shades. After being in Colorado for some time, I noticed I've become lighter in skin tone and really needed some foundation consulting to correct my color. I was nervous coming to MAC because my past experiences haven't been the best when asking for help, but Erica U was absolutely FANTASTIC! She spent at least an hour with me finding my exact shade. We must've went through 7 different foundations and 4 different powders until we got a match. She even helped me pick out a bronzer and taught me how to blend and contour my face. I am so impressed with Erica's customer service and attention to detail. She's an amazing makeup artist and has a friendly, approachable, and caring attitude. I've been shopping here for as long as I can remember. I used to love this store but in the past few years it's really gone downhill. I've had my makeup done here and at other MAC store for most events (weddings, balls, night out) and have NEVER been unsatisfied. Until recently. MAC was launching their new line, and I know, when they have new limited edition lines the stores usually packed and sells out within hours. I had made an appointment a month before hand, got to the store right at my appointment time and was told it be about 3 mins for a chair. I waited about 15 mins. The girl who did my makeup was lovely. She was chatty and sweet and just so nice. We sat in the store and while she was doing my makeup, someone who I assume is the manager kept coming up to her and giving her these weird looks like "stop talking" look or, "hurry it up" look. Kind of the look your mom gives you if you're in church or at Target & are yelling and being obnoxious. So I knew she felt rushed to finish my makeup. I noticed she was walking around doing this to quite a few workers and it was uncomfortable, and honestly awkward. If I have to spend fifty dollars on makeup JUST to get my makeup done, don't rush the person doing my makeup, and give the artists longer than 20-25 mins to do so. She got my foundation, blush, brows, and then when it came to my eyes it was atrocious. I had this deep purple and dark black just in the crease of my eye and that was it. Usually when I get my makeup done the eyes take the most time. She swept one color on, then the next and then layered it with a thick blue eyeliner. She then had me get up and tell her what I wanted to buy. I felt rushed, but I also felt bad for her and all the other girls because I could tell they felt rushed as well and I was defiantly NOT happy with my look. When I got to the car my husband & friends laughed and asked if I was trying to be funny with the look. I went with a friend a few weeks ago who wanted to return some unopened shadow she had gotten and the face primer. They kept trying to convince her to keep it, or exchange it, and when she was firm with saying no, their attitude changed and they became snarky. I know, no store wants returns, but when someone says no, they mean no and don't want some peppy attitude to keep it or exchange it, then turn into a jerk because she said no. I'll defiantly be shopping at the cherry creek MAC from now on. They are much. much more nice and helpful. read more

I generally do not have a bad customer service experience at MAC, but I've noticed recently across the bored with MAC stores in Colorado that the customer service is pretty bad. It's just so odd to me that this company hired many people with bad attitudes. I have worked in retail before and I understand how draining it can be to deal with rude customers, so I understand from their perspective yet I go into this MAC store and need some help yet no one helps me. A woman comes in after me and is helped right away. I wasn't sure if it is because I am a person of color and they thought I wasn't a good prospective customer or because I looked like I don't have money. I attended a makeup class with my Daughter . Held by Arias .LOVED THE CLASS! She is so Knowledgeable about her products and demonstrations. The make up she did on her model was beautiful. I took my daughter so she can learn how to do and every day make up look and it was perfect. We also had Arias color match my daughter as she was having problems with her coverage and skin care and found the perfect coverage and the perfect regimen for her every day teen look. My daughter was so happy and felt so confident after she left the store . I will will be recommending on my friends and family to Arias. I requested a last minute appointment because I didn't feel like doing my own makeup for our night out and Hannah was nice enough to squeeze me in. She was so sweet and really listened to me during the consultation. She was very thorough - asking about my skin type, what usually works well for me, and what I was wanting for my event. Not only did she do what I asked but she was able to push me out of my comfort zone with different eyeshadows, which turned out to make my eyes pop more than ever! I love MAC makeup and this shop does not disappoint. I am addicted to their lipsticks because they are beautifully smooth and they don't have any perfumy taste or smell which I really hate on a lipstick. The blush selections are wonderful as well. The assistants are skilled at helping you find the right look and color combination for your style. One of the other awesome things about MAC is MAC accepts returns of its primary packaging through the Back to MAC Program. I don't frequent MAC very often because to be honest, I've always been kind of intimidated when going into their stores. But that changed today! I went in hoping to find a foundation that matched my skin tone a little better and didn't make my skin look dry. Michael helped me with that, and so much more. I left with new liquid foundation, concealer, and a powder for setting my makeup. He applied my new foundation and also contoured and highlighted, and showed me how to do everything he did so I can recreate the look myself. It was pretty busy while I was there, and Michael made an effort to greet every guest and make sure everyone in the store was taken care of. It was a great experience all around, and I can safely say I'm no longer intimidated by MAC and MAC products and I will definitely be back, thanks to Michael's help! read more

I'm pretty loyal to MAC in general. I also really appreciate the helpfulness of the makeup artists at MAC, however I am an in and out type of girl and I don't like to be fussed with too much. It is pretty standard practice that when I walk into a MAC store I know what I need, list the items and the colors, they are grabbed for me, and I get the heck out of there. When I stopped in Sunday after a Costco trip and realized they were out of the color of the foundation I normally wear (they offered to have it shipped and to get me a generous sample to hold me over until it arrived) I asked the woman helping me if there was another foundation I should try that would be comparable. I said I liked Matte, good coverage, and not very thick because I use powder, as well. Unfortunately for me, I also needed a color change as this winter has left me pale. I dreaded the usual assessment of my skin and color testing but she grabbed a good one, tried two colors on my neck, and recommended a foundation and color for me that, after some wear, I realize is better than what I was previously buying. I was so thankful she was so quick and efficient and pointed me in a great direction. I wish I could remember her name. Not to mention she was so incredibly friendly and didn't make me feel awkward at all about the fact I stumbled into a makeup store with no makeup on. If I was nearby to Park Meadows I would try and shop from her exclusively, but unfortunately I am much closer to Cherry Creek. A year ago I visited mac at cherry creek and had an irritating experience. No one wanted to take the time to help me, answer questions, or let me buy some makeup while no one was even in the store! I just went into this location at park meadows this weekend and was helped by Lydia immediately when I arrived and the store was slam packed! She showed me attention and gave me the best foundation I've had since I steered away from wearing makeup becoming a mom. I loved the makeup she had on too! As an artist and product snob I use all high end brands of cosmetics, but MAC takes the cake in colors and mascara. For the price you won't find better quality and they recycle all of your empty containers. Once you buy from there, you are in their system and they have your colors so you don't accidentally replicate color which is easy to do. Every time I go in Amber remembers me and can help me find that little 'tweak' I was looking for or just a lipstick as an afternoon pick me up. MAC also holds classes on evenings after the mall closes on trends or basics for around fifty bucks, but you get a gift card in that amount for product at the end of that class. The brushes are amazing and I do find myself buying duplicates in those because you can never have too many tools. By far the best quality brushes I have come across. As far as price goes, Diorshow mascara was 26 bucks at Sephora, at MAC the Opulash mascara is 14 bucks before my artist discount. It works better and stays fresh in the tube longer. The only thing I'm not super fond of in the MAC line is foundation, but I haven't tried all of them. They have a new mineral line I'm going to have Amber test on me next time. read more

I visited MAC in Park Meadows today for some eye shadows. The store was quite busy and I had a somewhat complicated exchange, however, the sales rep was so helpful and focused on only me. When it came time for the exchange she did all she could and then asked the manager to come over for approval and to finish the transaction. Stephanie, the manager was a dream. If I could have zero stars I would. I was in this store during a recent trip from Los Angeles to the Colorado area. I decided to transfer all my shadows the new palettes as my old pallets were worn out. When I entered the store I asked for 4 empty palettes and said I would continue shopping. The young man that was helping me was very rude and said he'd have to check with his manager because he was only allowed to sell three at a time. Fine. I continued to shop and the entire store stopped and started looking at me whispering. Then he informed me his manger had to make a call to approve the sale. I then informed him that I had a Pro Card so it shouldn't be a problem. Isn't that the point of having a pro card, that you purchase more items than normal consumers? I then went up to the register to purchase my items. There were FOUR employees up there when I checked out. The original employee said he would have to have me fill out a form...for four EMPTY palettes? Another employee was in the phone trying to get consent and the two were just standing there. I have never been so incredibly uncomfortable. The entire staff acted as if I was stealing. I am a professional makeup artists and have always shopped at MAC stores across the US. The way I was treated was absolutely the worst customer experience I have ever had. I plan on contacting corporate. NEVER let Lauren Clouse or close do your makeup. She doesn't listen to the direction you want to go. No matter if you tell her if you have an event to go to she will do whatever she wants. I told her that I didn't want anything dramatic and she proceeds to give me Black eyeshadow. Idk what she was thinking with my skin but it was too heavy and too orange. She said it blended together but it didn't. Talking to me you can see she is shallow. Then placing on my eyelash she must have scratched my eye because it began to swell after her attempt to put it on. I'm so angry if you read this make sure you go to another young lady because lauren will do what she wants not what you want or fits you. I was here last night and I have to say MAC's employees live up to their reputation of being rude and snobby. I walked in and the guy that greeted me, had a tone of sarcasm to his voice and when I asked for what I needed he gave me a look like I was dumb. Then he laughed when he told me they didn't have the items in stock. I asked for two things, one being something that is kind of old and the other stores inside macys don't carry. Yes I get it, some people try to make light of a situation like that but it's not funny. Especially when you make people feel small because everyone who I have met that works for a MAC counter thinks they're the greatest make up artist ever. I went in to try to return an eye shadow that we received by trading in old Mac makeup. We accidentally grabbed the wrong color and brought it back a couple weeks later unopened and with the receipt to swap it out with another color. Their customer service was HORRIBLE! I was originally straight up told no by the associates and they didn't seem to care. I then asked for the manager who came out and refused to make a simple exchange. I wasn't asking for a lot here. She said her hands were tied by the system but I call BS. It was not a hard thing to do and the request was very reasonable but they couldn't care less. It was a simple exchange for 1 item!! Seriously I am so pissed, I go in on Friday and spend close to $400 at the Mac store I buy a custom pallet etc. etc. go home to find out that I have two painterly pots! I throw my receipt away because most businesses with decent customer service will let you return something if it hasn't been used , for example, Sephora. What is the point of giving my phone number and my email address to mac if they don't keep track of my purchases !? Apparently they're keeping track of the colors I buy, jeez, real useful! I have been a long time Mac customer I am a makeup artist, I have worked for Bobbi Brown, I worked at Nordstrom etc. I spend a lot of money on makeup, thousands, Mac just lost me as a customer forever! Over an unused painterly pot that I've had for two days that cost $23 give me a fucking break! I'm going home digging through my trash finding my receipt and returning EVERYTHING!
