The school offers a genuine Montessori prepared environment with teachers that are dedicated and return year after year. The children not only learn academic skills that place them far above the performance of children at other schools, but they gain so much more from this family style/homelike setting complete with access to nature and animals. Our daughter has strengthened her sense of self-confidence, which has allowed her to develop her own personal strengths and talents. PVM also offers before/aftercare and a variety of programs (music lessons, Spanish, creative writing, art, cooking classes in full kitchen and monthly field trips). Over the past six years she has developed close friendships in a safe bully-free environment and her school has become more than a school...more like an extended family.

Instead I was asked informally to pick her up instead of receiving paperwork for suspensions. There was no talk of IEPs or 504s. There is no psychologist and there is no counselor at this school. I ended up taking my daughter somewhere else and now is staying at school and receiving more resources and support. Beware if your child is special, needs help with English, or etc. do not take them here.

As a parent, I've been extremely disappointed with Rancho Santa Fe Elementary. There seems to be…read morevery little focus on academics, disciplinary measures, and overall student safety. Leadership/staff often presents themselves in a way that doesn't reflect professionalism or seriousness--wearing oversized clown glasses, tutus and colorful wigs. I've had serious incidents involving my 5th grade daughter where I raised concerns beforehand about potential bullying, safety concerns, and bathroom fights. Despite reaching out ahead of time the school failed to prevent these incidents and failed to notify me promptly. Another incident involving my 2nd grade daughter was similarly mishandled, with the school downplaying the severity and failing to report what truly happened when it happened. The lack of structure and the school's focus on tutus, wigs, pep rallies, spirit week and snowcones overcomes their focus on education, professionalism and safety. I expected a safe, academically driven environment for my daughters, and instead I've been met with disappointment, a lack of accountability and below grade level performance.

Teachers this year have extremely high expectations for 10 year old kids. The last two months the school has pointed out behavior issues with my son. My son gets bullied like crazy and nothing is done about it. The school is so quick to pointing out everything he does so he gets in trouble rather than recognizing he needs guidance to improve. I'm so disappointed how the school has been treating and dealing with my son. He doesn't want to go to school because he feels like the staff is targeting him. If your kid fits the "normal" stereotype of a kid, they will do fine at the school. If your kid struggles in anything, behavior or academically, don't waste your time sending your kid here. Over all these years, the staff and teachers have gone above and beyond to create a warm, welcoming environment where my children truly feel loved, cared for, and supported. Now that two of my children are in middle school, we've also been incredibly impressed by their sports programs. They offer a great variety of sports, and the coaches do an amazing job of ensuring that every single player gets playing time and feels included. Corte Sierra is one of the safest and advanced schools in my opinion. They have done amazing at being support for my son who needed speech services, all the way to bullying. Some of the teachers are original teachers from when I was in 3rd grade back in 2002/2003. I travel 14 miles to and from to get my kids to CSE and it's worth every penny.
