Went on Chinese new year, and they were not busy at all. Promptly seated and provided menus. We ordered the lamb pilaf, toothpick lamb, beef with fat, and lamb skewer with naan. The pilaf with the toothpick lamb was delicious. The lamb fat came through and paired well with the toothpick spicy lamb. The lamb skewers were dry, and the naan was thick, dry and cardboard texture. Don't recommend ordering that. The beef with fat was really good too. Took off stars because multiple plates provided at the table were unclean, they did not come to take away empty plates or refill water. Also, there was lack of interest to explain anything in the menu. No bucket to put in used/dirty skewers in. Maybe we will go to grab to-go orders instead of sit in dinner.

We ordered the half lamb that came with hot pot and bread etc. It was TONS of food. Not exactly my style to order such a large platter but the food was good and the flavors were good. I think the lamb was a little dry but everyone seemed to enjoy it enough. I personalLu wouldn't go back but I can see how this would appeal to people who love to eat a ton.

EC3. Lamb Soup with Vermicelli

My husband and I took our in-laws here. They're known for their lamb and their lamb is from New Zealand so it is halal for anyone curious. We ordered four big dishes and two appetizers. The appetizers were veggies . Had three dishes that were kebab centric, and one lamb soup. We asked for the spicy powder on on the side. If you like fatty lamb, get the bs6/4 or anything that says 5 or more skewers. The ones that says 3 are typically more lean and less fatty. If you like thag instead, get bs4. The soup was meh. But would be a good soup if you're feeling unwell. I would skip it and reorder everything else. The service was quick and our waitress was super nice. She also gave us forks just in case we need it. And cups since we weren't used to using the bowl method, the traditional method for this cuisine. The place was clean and neat. There are some small arcade games at the front while you wait. We came around 6 on a Sunday night and we got a table right away. As we were done with a few of our dishes, they came by and cleared it quickly while bringing us our next dish. Parking is free and out front.

Run don't walk to this amazing new restaurant! They specialize in Xinjiang style lamb cuisine and everything was delicious. Food: 5/5 we originally wanted to try the four person half lamb special but apparently you have to order that 2 days in advance (next time!). We ended up ordering the beer downer appetizer, lamb skewers with naan, lamb hot pot, steamed lamb, and lamb rice. Everything was fresh and delicious! Service: 5/5 they were attentive and listened to our requests carefully, very accommodating towards our party of 7 Ambiance: 5/5 they have little arcade machines at the front which is perfect for kids. This is a newer restaurant so everything was clean and new. I love lamb, this place will definitely be a go-to in the future!

It's for 4 people, no need appointment under 8 or 6.

The food is the best in Houston. And the waitress is so nice and pretty. Ssssssssssssso hooooooosddddsseds

Loved it! Hope you like meat and lamb! Not a lot of vegetables here but I did order the pickled vegetables and they were great but the star is the lamb. I had the lamb in chili oil and the meat falls off the bone. It was plenty of food for 1 but it's an appetizer for 2. The chili oil was a nice touch. We also had the beef kabobs and they fire them at your table so it's like a little table side fire show. The meat was super flavorful. Decor was nice and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. I'll be back to try more dishes.

Lamb rib So so good!

SCRUMPTIOUS SPOT! Honestly the best lamb I've ever eaten. My mother grew up eating Uyghur cuisine and their lamb is definitely authentic. 5/5 Lamb ribs The ribs were cooked perfectly tender; the texture was beautiful. The lamb itself was lightly seasoned so the two sauces that came with it brought out the lamb flavor and added a more complex flavor of spaced. This was such a unique dish that really highlights the natural flavor of lamb. Definitely get this! 5/5 Lamb pilaf So so good! It came with decent portions of lamb and the rice itself was so complex in terms of flavoring but was also able to highlight the natural sweetness of the carrots. It goes really well with any dish and it'll keep you full. 4/5 cucumber salad The cucumbers were so crisp and fresh, but personally I found the sauce to be on the sweeter side with mostly a soy sauce base. Honestly it pairs perfectly with the other dishes by delivering a crunchy texture variance. I munched on it after eating lots of meat. Really really unique joint, and I'm super happy that I decided to try it out. They have lamb soup too. Side note: they give little bowls for the water and I felt like a traveler in the Silk Road lol. The interior is clean and decently decorated. Service was prompt and the waitress checked in on us throughout our meal. I know it sounds very meat heavy but they execute it so that you feel refreshingly satiated when walking out.

The best lamb I've ever had, no cap! My boyfriend and I came on a Thursday night at 10pm and starving. We ordered so many dishes and thought we were gonna need to go boxes, but it was so good we finished everything. Servers were very attentive, and were nice even though it was so late.

I wish I took pictures! But I was so excited about the food and completely forgot about collecting sources for this review. My husband and I love lamb, so as soon as we heard this place just opened for walk-in, we drove right over. The restaurant was super accommodating for the fact that we have a stroller and a infant. They're still in the soft opening phase, so the food menu is only in Chinese for now (drink menu is in both Chinese and English). We ordered the appetizer platter, grilled lamb front leg, lamb shoulder skewers with naan bread, and lamb fat pilaf. Everything tastes amazing! The lamb leg was tender and flavorful, the fat was not at all oily but jello-y and nice. The pilaf was sooo good (I love raisin-ed rice!), I can easily finish the entire plate on my own. The naan isn't like middle eastern or Indian naan where it's crispy and buttery, this is more thick, firm, and doughy (a little dry). But I still quite enjoyed it. I would say tho, the appetizer platter I can probably do without - it's not really an appetizer but more like snacks to go with or alcohol drinks. The tofu skin tasted a little bit spoiled, but the egg sauce and the zhajiang or jajang sauce were really authentic!! Oh btw they don't give you water cups lol, you use water bowl there. The bowl is a bit shallow and make it a little difficult for your drinks - but I guess it's still a work in-progress. The prices are slightly on the pricer side. But this is an lamb centered restaurant, and lamb is expansive meat, so I would say this is very reasonable. I 100% recommend if you're a lamb lover like us! (Went back a second time yesterday and added some pictures here)

Great lamb with legit traditional Chinese cooking styles. People never tried Yang Xie Zi should start with this.

Lamb Intestine

Excellent service! The waitress served us and walked through the entire menu with us. They recommended the wasabi sesame lamb intestines as it is very unique. The hot pot was amazing. The lamb was tender and the naan was great. It is Xinjiang naan so so not expect it to be like Indian naan. It was able a ten minute wait. There were games to play while we waited so it made the time fly by. Decorations were cute, but it felt like a generic Chinese restaurant. It would be cool for them to specify that this is regional cusine, but I guess if you know, you know.

I went with my brother, and the atmosphere alone made it feel like an experience, not just a meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely wanted us to have a great time. Ordering is done through an online system, which is cool in theory, though my service struggled a bit, thankfully my brother had no issues, so we made it work. We ordered the triple broth: spicy bone tallow, tomato, and chicken. The spicy broth definitely packs a punch (even for spice lovers-stay hydrated ). The tomato broth was rich, savory, and hands-down my favorite. The chicken broth was a little bland, but the overall flavors were still solid. While I wish there was a bigger meat and seafood selection (especially for seafood lovers like me), everything we ordered was delicious. Overall, Old Alley Hot Pot is a great spot for date night, a fun dinner with friends or family, or even a cozy solo outing. Highly recommend for the experience alone.

The food at Shabu En is so good! The service is very thoughtful also and they're very attentive. The decorations in the restaurant is also very nice and it's very clean too. There's plenty of parking so no need to worry about driving around to get a spot unless you're trying to be closer. When you walk in, there is a waiting area where you can sit while waiting to be seated. They also provide some water and snacks in the front while waiting. It also has a photo spot near the front. For the food, there is a big selection. They have lots of soup bases, and it's possible to switch soup bases if you feel tired of the one you started with. I tried a few and they were all good. The flavors start to mix after you put in your hotpot ingredients, so I would suggest drinking some of the soup beforehand. My favorite broth I tried was the duck broth. You can really taste the duck and it's the most flavorful to me, and someone in the group said you can really taste the five spice powder (I couldn't but I liked it a lot). The tonkatsu is pretty decent and tastes like what you expect. I tried the Shabu En special broth, and it tastes like dashi soup. Very standard and pretty good broth. In my opinion, the sukiyaki broth is good for short term broth and just dipping your meat temporarily. To me the sweetness overpowered the soy sauce flavor, but it's still very good. You get your meat by ordering with the server, but they come by very often and it comes out very quickly that you don't really notice a long period without any meat. At the center where you grab veggies and the sauce bar, there are sections where you can get drinks, such as tea and Vietnamese coffee, which is in addition to the drinks you can order off the menu. There is also a small dessert station but it's a must try! It has a snow shaved ice, and it has a toppings bar next to it with toppings and different sauces you can put on it. Overall, it's a really good AYCE restaurant that's definitely worth trying out.

At the table, order your broth and meat before going to the buffet table. Keep in mind that most everything at the buffet is raw (veggies and seafood) except for dessert, drinks, and the sauce station. Pay at the table when finish. 2. Price - as of May 2026, All you can eat adult prices are $24 for lunch, and $34 for dinner. 3. Ambiance - contemporary, white marble, shiny chandeliers, and plenty of booth seatings. This place looks classy. You'll be amazed as to how big the interior is. Dress code here is casual. 4. Food - pretty straight forward hotpot place. I like their SHIITAKE MUSHROOM Broth. I would say that would be a basic Chinese hotpot broth to try if this is your first time. I don't recommend the SUKIYAKI broth. The menu says that this is a popular broth for beginners. But you're basically cooking in sweet soy sauce. 5. Cleanliness - dining area was clean, buffet table would do better if they have an extra person manning the table. Tongs were sticky and food droppings on the table. The restrooms were humid and smelly. Something they can easily work on with a little more focus to cleanliness.

We've previously enjoyed doing the best of both worlds pairing, but since they've added Tom Yum, we now do the pot split 3 ways. The self-serve buffet always has fresh veggies and seafood choices. Our favorites include the spinach, bok choy, shrimp, clams, sweet potato, corn, and pumpkin. I think they've done away with the lobster balls which used to be my favorite, but I've since switched to dumplings which are tasty. I love the items from the hot bar- the orange chicken is yummy. Service was fast, and what seemed like a seemingly small building was actually bustling. We ordered the Best of Both Worlds option and requested the Spicy Bone Marrow along with the Tomato Broth; they complement each other quite well, with the Spicy Bone Marrow being our personal favorite. It is definitely spicy, but nothing that I couldn't handle. The Tomato Broth was delicious as well, but added a nice sweetness to our meal. We chose the Classic All-You-Can-Eat lunch deal, and ordered a plate of the Natural Prime-Aged Lamb, the Hand Sliced Beef Short Plate, the Marinated Garlic Beef, and the Pork Belly; I can't say I'm a huge fan of how they divided the meat selections, however, since I could get premium meat elsewhere without being limited. But overall, the meat was of decent quality, and the buffet offered various options. Compared to other hot pot places, they even had a section where you could serve yourself egg rolls, white rice/fried rice, and stir-fried noodles, though I can't speak to the quality... very much buffet-quality if you catch my drift, but still lovely nonetheless. Similarly, you can fetch your own iced drinks and dessert too. I do wish Happy Lamb's sauce station had special pre-made flavors or instructions for making them, much like Shabu Zone or Haidilao; sometimes I don't trust myself to freestyle my own sauce. There are some cross-contamination concerns as well, since there'd be about 4 tongs at foot/pants level, but at least 9 food options (e.g., noodles, dumplings, veggies) to choose from. Not sure if other people share the same sentiment, but I guess they all get boiled in the end anyway. Overall, it's a decent option if you're in Downtown Houston! But I wouldn't call Happy Lamb my go-to spot.

Food: 9/10 Meats: I always get numbers 1, 2, 5, and 6. The meat cuts 1 and 2 are my favorite on the dinner menu because they are so tender and not too fatty. 5 and 6 are my favorites on the lunch menu. Sauce Bar: This is where shabu zone differentiates itself. The sauce bar is not your typical make yourself hot pot sauce, but they also have premade sauces that are delicious. The garlic sauce, black garlic, spicy ponzu, wasabi and corn are amazing. I just can't express enough how amazing it is to have the sauce bar and banchan bar. Banchan Bar: My favorite part of shabu zone and something that keeps me coming back. The onion jalapeno banchan is amazing, sweet and delicious perfect balance to the meat. The kimchi selection is great! I love making wraps with the white radish rounds too. Dessert: Good ice cream selection like their green tea and red bean flavors. Also, the coffee flavor is very good. The Vietnamese fruit cocktail che is also a nice touch that my parents love getting. Vegetable/Noodle options: Good options, I love the pumpkin and broccolli, watercress, spinach, enoki mushroom too! Lots of seafood options and different noodles. The hand pulled korean flat noodles are amazing. Broth: Broth is good, with sukiyaki being a favorite of mine along with Miso and Tonkotsu (vegetarian is nice as well). While the broths here are not as flavorful as rival shabu places like (Shabu En), it is good enough and does not hinder the experience. Overall, I will stand by my love for shabu zone. May be busy and hard to get a table at times though because of how popular they are.

The service was top notch Kevin our waiter was perfect, he explained exactly what us first timers needed to know (we opted for the BBQ vs Hot Pot) and gave excellent amount of service without interrupting too often, but without ignoring. And now my favorite part the food.... We ordered the following for our meat selections: Prime Beef Brisket, Spicy Beef Bulgogi, Garlic Chicken, Pork Belly, Cumin Lamb and Garlic Shrimp. For veggies: Shiitake mushrooms, Mung Bean Sprouts, Onions, Bamboo Shoots, Eggplant, Zucchini and we topped it off with a pineapple drink. My friend said the veal and the pork belly were both delicious, I don't eat either so my review is based on everything else. OMG the flavors were so packed into the meats they needed nothing else. The spicy beef bulgogi was by far my absolute favorite (I polished off two full servings myself) the spice profile was so perfect that it enhanced the beef without masking the natural flavor and the use a good quality beef as well so any toughness is due to your own over cooking which still didn't happen. The shrimp and chicken came in tied for second place for flavor bomb, I'm pretty sure they marinate this stuff for days for it to taste so full of flavor! It is eclectic, decorated in an Asian pop culture theme with [sometimes promiscuous lol] music videos playing on a big projector screen. And, it is honestly loud (booths are in rather close proximity to one another and there's constant clatter & commotion from the table action). We had a few issues - the grill didn't stay hot (either malfunctioning or low on fuel), there weren't any hot buffet options (like other locations offer), and a few menu items were unavailable (ran out) - but we enjoyed our meal, nonetheless. Even with a few missing offerings, there is plenty of variety - meats, seafood, vegetables, soups, noodles & rice. The sauce bar has many condiments & dips; you can play mad scientist with your seasonings/marinade. And, there was a cold buffet that offered kimchi and a few fruits. They also had a long list of beverages that included boozy cocktails and exotic smoothies or teas. Kevin was an outstanding server - extremely attentive & superbly patient (bless his heart for accommodating our rowdy and very needy group of newbies lol). He was assisted by a hard working team of table runners and busters who kept us stockpiled and refilled. The crew made sure things were never amiss. Some tips for first-timers: -The AYCE pricing is applied to the whole table, so you have to make a group decision if you want to do bbq or hotpot or both ($5 add on). -Holidays and weekends are priced for Dinner all day. -They don't take reservations, so there may be a wait (especially if you have a large group). -It is booth seating throughout, with a max of 6 people per booth. -You have a 2 hour time limit (which seems like a lot, but you do have to wait for meat to cook on the grill).
