Dispatch was terrible. The truck arrived over an hour later than the already long 1.5-hour promised window. On top of that, they tack on a so-called "convenience fee"--which feels more like a penalty for not carrying cash during an emergency. The staff were unnecessarily aggressive about collecting personal information that wasn't relevant to the service. Their tone and approach added to the frustration. In addition to the $6/mile charge, there are surprise add-ons like a "hook-up fee." How else would they tow the car if not by hooking it up? These charges feel like nickel-and-diming during a stressful situation. And if you don't have a wad of hundreds in cash because of your poor preparation, I'm not anticipating a car breakdown you get to pay a "convenience fee" of 35$ for using a credit card. Overall, the experience was late, overpriced, pushy, with worrisome collection even demanding of your personal information. What a joke! This place & owner should be ashamed of himself. Horrible experience it was all I could do not loose my s__t. First of all my fiancé car was inappropriately towed which was not his fault. When she called he told her the car was already locked in the garage. That was a lie because the car has remote cameras & we could clearly see the car was still in the truck. She then called the police & he offered to come back but at an additional 140 whenever he got there. Then I showed in the morning I showed him my key, drivers license and a digital copy of the restoration which he refused to take. Demanded the original hard copy one. Then paying yo get the car back at 400 to go 4 blocks. He is a dishonest greedy person who should not be a business owner. read more

I called AAA & they sent Ron's Towing to change my flat tire... I asked the service guy if Ron's Automotive & Ron's Towing are the same business... He said yes... I asked because I couldn't find Ron's Towing on yelp... Anyways... AAA said they'd be there within an hour but would try to get there sooner... Not only did they get to me within an hour, but he had my tire changed by then too... :-) He was pleasant, more than on time, got the job done without being clumsy or messy as I had to take the original dirty tire back with me... I wish I would have had a spare towel in the SUV so that the dirty tire could have been placed on that... But he placed it on my rubber mat the best he could being as it's half the size of the tire... Really rude, and incompetent staff. They assume you know everything about towing. When the vehicle was towed to my apartment complex, the tow truck driver was even worse than the staff at the office. He hit a parked scooter with my car as he lowered it into the parking spot. Furthermore, as I asked him why he did not take it to a parking spot one space over. He yelled at me saying, "I don't fucking have space to park it there". Overall, the experience was undesirable, and left me shaking from anger/confusion as to why I was being treated the way I was. I had a great experience with Ron's when my car needed towing. I was so happy that I made them my new mechanic. My timing belt was overdue for replacement and I was told that they would charge me about $700 including the water pump replacement. I decided to have the right side engine mount fixed as well. Don't know if they replaced it or repaired it, but when I went to pick it up my bill was now $1200. So I guess a side motor mount costs $400/500? If anyone wants to know where an honest mechanic is the closest one I can find is Idyllwild Garage - ask for Steve. I know it's quite a drive, but it's worth it. read more

I highly recommend Ron's Automotive and Towing, whether you're in need of a tow or any mechanical work needed on your vehicle. I've been taking my vehicles to Ron's for more than 20 years. I've also recommended Ron's to many friends and even to guests of the resort where I work. They always call me with an estimate, the few times there has been an issue with their work, they have made good on it immediately and at no charge. In fact, at least half a dozen times over the years when they could find no problems with my car or the fix was very simple, I've been told that there's no charge! How often do you have that happen? They are service-oriented with a good sense of humor, and they try very hard to get their work done as quickly as possible. Ron's Automotive has saved my bacon twice in the last 3 yrs. The first time was Easter weekend 2012 when the tension pulley on my 2001 Subaru Outback totally disintegrated leaving me and my wife and our 85 lb Chow stranded in Indian Wells. They towed the car, we found a pet friendly room and first thing Monday morning they made our problem their top priority. They found it cheaper and faster to press a new bearing into the pulley and had us back on the road ASAP. Skip forward to last week, while traveling on I-10 from Phoenix we started having overheating issues. For 5 hrs. we traveled in 110* heat without the use of the A/C, to say it was hot would be an understatement! So there we were in the middle of nowhere not knowing anyone I played a hunch and started digging in the glovebox to my surprise and relief I found the invoice from the pulley repair,a quick phone call from out on the road gave them the heads up we were coming in on a wing and a prayer! Upon arriving at their shop they had the problem diagnosed promptly and were shopping around for the cheapest,soonest radiator they could find. And once again made us their top priority and got us back on the road ASAP! All of their work has been excellent and their prices are fair but their service is incomparable! Place is ridiculous. Tow truck driver showed up and then just left us us stranded in themiddle of nowhere. we were stranded for four hours because he rufused to take the call again because he felt unsafe. Meanwhile we are stranded for hours... The cops showed up and confronted me about streetracing, huh that's weird I wonder who called the cops. After complaining to rons towing about the driver they had no care about our situation. Horrible experience horrible service. read more

This place is a ripoff. The guys in the garage so called fixed some problems with my BMW. Over $1,400 later, I ended up bringing it back to my BMW dealer with the same issues and more. The so called mechanics at Ron's Automotive had lied to me in their diagnostics testing and they also hooked up a new battery that was inferior which caused more serious problems. They refuse to replace or pay for any of the damages that they incurred. Their customer service is served with a fake smile, they get you in with you thinking that it is just that one problem and then it ends up to be some more major repairs. A friend of mine had a similar problem with his Mercedes. These guys need to be out of business. Please be advised that if you take your vehicle in to these people, you might as well throw your money away. read more
