He provided us with the plateware that was needed and even gave us extra. I called them to schedule the work and they were able to fit me in the very next morning!! John came and showed his team what to do, not only were they respectful and took their shoes off they were friendly and explained what they were doing. And they didn't even need to turn off the electricity to do it!! I offered to clean up to keep the costs down and no joke his invoice was the price I had in my head for the work! He called in another electrician that had to go under the house. All they did was run a very long electrical cable from the main panel to the outlets. Now my heater and air conditioner have no power. Two women revamping our garage and no mansplaining anywhere to be found - what a dream! Britt explains everything, explains the options, and she provided me with a detailed/updated estimate through the business office within minutes of our discussing a complicated job of putting two dedicated circuits in and running conduit, etc, etc! I had to leave before they were done and had zero concerns about leaving them at my house with my dogs and trusting them to close up the garage and lock the doors behind them. They are coming back in November to address the rest of the add-ons I requested, and I am excited to have these lovely and talented women return again to complete our garage transformation. Even in our garage, the attention to detail was impeccable - at one point, Britt was fussing with conduit because it was slightly off level (I couldn't tell) and in her words, "it's driving me crazy - I have to fix it". On the corner of the broken box was the sticker for Schafer Electric 707-545-3300, they installed the box +12 years ago for me. I called them up on a Saturday afternoon, left message that I needed some help immediately!!! Ben Schafer/owner called me back & remembered the job he did years ago & agreed to come out survey problem & fix it ASAP. He set up PGE to come out cut off the line, & completely replaced, the box by Tuesday & power restored Wed. PGE hooked it up again. Everything is back to normal thanks to Schafer Electric. Come to find out that during the last 12 years his business has taken off & now does work in Marin, Sonoma & Napa counties now! What a blessing having his business sticker on the corner of the box. Henry's Quality Electric when my solar inverter needed replacement. Even though they didn't perform that work themselves, they referred me to one of their installers and, in the process, saved me money by bypassing the markup they could have charged. That level of honesty is pretty rare. They could easily have kept the work in-house or added a layer of profit, but instead they focused on what was best for me as the customer. They also followed up several times by email to make sure everything was going smoothly and that I was happy with the outcome. Preface: This rating schema needs ten stars. ;^)…read more I contracted Daniel to assist me in ensuring a very dated, derelict, freewheeling small wind turbine in Berkeley, CA was safe to perform work. Daniel is a champ!! Understatement. If there were 10 stars in this rating schema, Daniel would own this! Daniel is INCREDIBLY accommodating, and REALLY enjoys his work. He was not only gracious, malleable and competent, but quite adept at thinking on his feet. This was MOST appreciated, because prior Lic C10s I had come through did not offer the same thoroughness, care and consideration. It was clear, in the past, once these historical electricians grasped the magnitude and complexity of what was involved with decommissioning this installation, they turned tail, 'attained escape velocity' and the homeowner did not see them again. Not Daniel. Daniel even went under the house into the crawl space to try to trace all the connections, too. Additionally, he went above and beyond the call of duty and was able to extricate the wind turbine brake cable which, unknown others had made unsuccessful attempts in the past. Wow-squared!! I can say with 100% confidence that the wires from the wind turbine are capped off, and the connection from the AC connection to the phaser/inverter is capped off. The installation is now safe to work on without being concerned about the flow of electrons from the wind turbine or from the PG&E electrical distribution network. This was a HUGE decommissioning milestone in this project!! Couldn't have done this without Daniel's help. Word on the street is, he also does work for Grid Alternatives. Can't have a better recommendation than that!

Daniel did a few small jobs for us in Oakland many years ago, fixing some problems another…read moreelectrician created. When we needed to upgrade our panel recently to 200 amps I thought of Earthstar but I figured by now with inflation and Daniel's many years of experience, and working from Sonoma, they would be too expensive. Someone who was working on our house (when I started looking for electricians) knew of Earthstar and said their electricians were great and they also had this super nice and helpful front office guy, John, who made working with them a pleasure. So, now add that overhead to the pricing...I was sure they'd be too expensive for us (although probably worth it). But Earthstar had the lowest price of the highly-rated Yelp electricians we got bids from! We ended up with the rarest contractor experience: an "A" in professionalism, quality, and value. John was indeed such a pleasure to work with as was Taylor, who did the wiring. Taylor also has carpentry experience and not only did a fast and expert job on the panel, but also did a great job replacing the siding around the panel where the house angles out. I really appreciate that he paid attention to the things that concerned me and went above and beyond in those areas. I'm trying to think of another project so we can use them again.
