What a name. The rehabilitation of retro garments... I'm SO there…read more Dinky? I'll say. There's a lot to be said for small vintage shops as you can do all your rummaging quick sharp, and this place is perfect for that very purpose. As previous Yelpers have confirmed the stock rotation is indeed frequent, so be sure to pop in any time you're in the Northern Quarter. One of the things I love about this titchy boutique is the shoes... the brunette and I were drooling over little red pixie boots for quite some time. There are plenty of customised one-offs and second hand garments to choose from, and no doubt anything you buy from there will attract envious attention from friends. Unfortunately it doesn't cater for men, however a great many high street fashion shops don't either, so I don't have a gargantuan issue with that. The staff are very friendly and appropriately quirky themselves, so if you're stuck for inspiration you can always have a gander at what they're wearing. Prices vary depending on the item but no label has made me gasp in agony thus far. And I had no idea about the buy one get one free sales, so thanks to Alexandra I'll certainly be looking out for those in the future! And who can resist aqua-marine, well, I can't. This store has done extremely well in making itself conspicuous amongst the many shabby chic boutiques along Oldham Street, and it has definitely earned its place as one of the shops that very much makes the Northern Quarter feel like the Camden of Manchester. Chin chin to you, Retro Rehab.

This Debenhams store is located in Oldham town centre, on the lower floor of Spindells mall, one thing I've noticed is that for a Debenhams store it is a little small, which can be expected for a degree in comparison to the stores in larger cities such as Manchester and Liverpool, who have much better stores. The store throughout doesn't seem modern at all, it is quite old-fashioned, and reminds me of an old department store, considering this is located in a shopping mall which was built in the 80's/90's, it still feels like the unit hasn't changed too much in that time. The staff seemed friendly enough and the location does have a small cafe. 2* - A nice brand to have in Oldham, despite being old-fashioned it isn't terrible and I do feel it would be a huge disadvantage to the town, without this store.

I live in the US now and Debenhams reminds me of a mini Macy's. As a petite lady, I love that they have petite sections, especially their own Collection brand and the Dorothy Perkins brand. British fashions are way more appealing to me than their US counterparts. Typical department store set up with men's, women's, children, home, fragrances, shoes, accessories and the like. I like the cafe too. Debenhams was my first job out of high school (a couple decades ago) so some sentimental nostalgia and happiness that it is still here! :) If you need something quick for self, home or gift, Debenhams offers nice and good quality merchandise, just limited selection compared to some of stores in bigger cities.

I love a good rummage around in Wilkinson…read more The love affair started when I was working in Salford and there was a Wilko's in the Precinct but has since extended into the city centre. I admit, I am a bit of a snob when it comes to places like this; I scurry in and out of Poundland hoping not to be noticed and it's a similar thing with Wilko's. However, the more I shop here, the prouder I am. Anyone who is as much of a Pinterest addict as I am can feel a tinge of sadness when browsing through DIY&Crafts, realising there are no equivilants to Walmart (trust me, our supermarkets just aren't the same) to pick up the basic vases/spray paint/endless balls of twine the crafters suggest. Poundland doesn't even cut the mustard when it comes to this. Wilko's to the metaphorical rescue. The home section here becomes a haven for anyone who has a desire to spray paint everything gold and stick small plastic animals onto screw top jars. The home section, by coincidence, is the only part of the shop I tend to frequent. The homeware department has recently had a bit of a revamp - according to the signs anyway - and the array of cushions had my head spinning. I love a good cushion. Why then do I only give 3 stars when the shop fulfills all my cheap crafty needs? The service. The service is slow. There also seems to be no limit on how much perfume one man can buy - surely this is just going to end up on a market stall somewhere? That or perfume giving has become compulsary at Easter? Maybe a quick stop at Wilko's was what Jesus rose for.* *Sorry** **I'm not really sorry

The…read morequality of the food they sell is really beyond dispute and represents great value for money on quality. When there were food scandals here a few years ago like the horsemeat scandal their name never arose. Sure you can go to the other big stores but when you look at the prices they charge for their comparable quality provisions they actually usually charge more than M&S do for their M&S labelled products. Buy cheap folks and buy twice. I only needed croissants, Parma ham, roasted cashews and some of their exquisite Indian meals but I had grandkids in tow so things like Percy pig sweets, banana milk, sugary cereals, doughnuts and fresh baked cookies ended up on the counter. We all then went to the M&S upstairs cafe; adults for cappuccinos and kids for apple juice - before this it would have been to the Starbucks in this vast centre but since they charged me 5p for a plastic cup for iced water (in Portsmouth) I've not been back. M&S provide jugs of water with glasses for free in their cafés - you don't even have to buy anything.

I do find the checkout area to be a little hectic here sometimes, so that makes the app much more useful here. While I do prefer their Manchester Arndale location nearby in terms of item stocked and overall look/feel of the store, this store certainly isn't a bad alternative and I do seem able to get the majority of the items I need when I visit the store. The layout of the store is pretty easy to follow, I like how they've combined the cupboard and fridge "Made Without Wheat" range to be right next to each other, which makes the whole shopping experience much quicker. There are no toilets in store which is rare for a large Marks and Spencer, there are plenty of toilet facilities around the rest of the Trafford Centre though. 4*

So what gives American Graffiti its review-worthy uniqueness? Well, it's vintage taken to its Nth degree. Vintage that is so specific to its timezone it can masquerade as fancy dress. You can mix and match and get away with it, or you could quite easily attend a party as Jackie O. The website categorises the clothing by decade. Whether you're a 1940s jitterbug in your pillarbox hat and dainty skirt suit, a 1950s circle skirt and pinched waist lover, a Carnaby street-hopping 1960s monochrome dream, a 70s disco diva or all 80s power-suits and shoulderpads, you'll fit in well here. It's not just vintage, retro and fancy dress clothes you'll get here either. Alongside a massive array of shoes and accessories there's even some homeware to be going along with. And they even provide costumes for stage and screen, including Life on Mars, Coronation Street and Take That. The atmosphere is welcoming and nothing is dusty or musky - all the items are lovingly laundered to a tee, dry cleaned and presented beautifully. Well, that's passed my vintage 'ewww!' test then. With friendly staff and a downloadable 10% discount voucher, you don't need any more excuses to pay it a visit.
