Technician Review of M&M Auto Group - Simsbury, CT
I'm writing this review as a former technician who worked at M&M Auto Group, to give some insight to anyone considering working here in the service department.
When I started, I was hopeful -- I came in ready to work, learn, and grow in the trade. But it quickly became clear that the environment wasn't what it seemed. From my first week, it felt like I was being micromanaged instead of mentored, and there was constant pressure to slow down or second-guess myself, even when I was getting solid work done.
What stood out most, though, was what the other employees told me -- techs who'd been there longer, including senior techs and lube guys. Multiple people mentioned that turnover was a regular thing. One even told me straight up that someone else had quit recently because they felt like they didn't belong or weren't supported. When you start hearing things like that from people still working there, it says a lot.
Management seems more focused on control than development. If you're not doing things their way -- even if you're being productive and knocking out jobs -- you're labeled as a problem. There's no real training path or encouragement. You're just expected to fall in line.
I also heard firsthand that the shop has tried to bring in new techs at rates that don't match the work being asked of them, and not everyone was happy about it. When you're on the phone offering line tech jobs at starter pay, it's no wonder applicants get frustrated.
Since moving on, I've started at a shop that treats me like a real technician. I've already been trusted with diagnostic work, appreciated for my effort, and surrounded by pros with serious tools who respect the trade.
If you're considering working at M&M Auto Group, especially as a tech -- just go in with your eyes open. The issues aren't always obvious at first, but they'll show up quick. There are better places out there that will actually invest in you instead of making you feel like you don't belong. read more
