I had already expected that it was going to be busy so went to the line with no expectations whatsoever. They opened promptly at 10 am, got my number and I was #87. Yes! Three people were working that morning, two got to work right away but you can tell they were dealing with difficult situations. The 3rd person started helping customers but by this time the place is getting really packed. 15 minutes into it, the 3rd person closed her window for few seconds then opened it up with an announcement that if you're there for tabs, line up in the side according to your number. I lined up, there was one person ahead of me. When she finished she called me, did my transaction, answered all my questions as I needed to change my name and did it all efficiently and with a smile. I was done in half hour! I think people give this place a bad review bec they expect to come in and out quickly trust me, I am from CA and used to the line at DMV. This place is nothing.

She leaves. Doesn't return, doesn't return. Meanwhile the line behind me which had no people is now 15 people. The brusque manager finally appears, asks, "What?". I explain to her I was five minutes late due to an initial medical procedure going over, had an appointment, can't come in for three weeks due to treatment for said medical issue. She keeps trying to schedule me when I'm in treatment, after I've explained to her three times I will be debilitated and unable to drive. Finally, she acts like she's doing me an enormous favor and gives me one of her annointed precious slots for that day (which she couldn't done 10 minutes earlier) but with a stern warning, I will have to wait. This whole process takes an hour, inconveniences 15 other people and in that amount of time I could've renewed my license 20 times. I end up waiting 15 minutes and the actual renewal time takes less than three. This is management? Um, no. Lakewood, please hire people with critical thinking skills instead of people on a power trip.

If you do your tabs online and pick them up here it's great. If you have to do it in person it's also great. The Saturday hours are perfect for you to get this all done on an off day (if you have Saturday off). Also, let's remember to follow instructions at the location, bring all your Paperwork and know the person's helping you is there to help you so let's not get angry at them because of something that is not their fault as they are just doing their job. I highly recommend this location as they are helpful and they are very willing to help you. It's got quality service across the board.

Don't trust this DOL merchant to do their job or to fix mistakes they admitted they caused you…read more Didn't receive tab. Called several times during the pandemic just to get dismissed not even asking my name stating, "everything is delayed due to the pandemic." Months later I got through and talked to the manager she said their under staffed, training and having issues with their online payments being processed. She schedule me for a walk in appointment (a day too late). The clerks noticed reception in hand and said to each other "not another online payment issue." I replied, yes. They explained almost everyone that paid online had issues with them processing the payments and had to come in to get it fixed. Manager wasn't available... clerk's tried to print my registration but the computer was stopping them. They called DOL and was told my payment didn't go through, so they immediately suspended my registration (merchants error not mine, I received two receipts that this payment was made) DOL stated they sent it to collections within the last 24hrs, so it's out of their hands now. Merchant apologize several times stating, they feel bad because it was their fault, they asked if DOL sent me a letter about this. I replied, no... I didn't receive a letter or my registration/tabs. They printed me a letter from DOL. They told me to dispute it with collections letting them know its merchants error, then to come back to get my tab. I sent a few disputes, collection's manager states he'll look into it and get back to me but NEVER once has reached out in anyway. The last time I called him he stated he can see the registration that I never received was infact immediately suspended. I told him I shouldn't have a collection since I never received anything. He stated if I pay collections I'll still have to go pay for a replacement tab. It seemed like he didn't want me to pay, that he'd look into it more, but everytime I go in to see if I can get tabs for this vehicle I can't the issue was never taken care of. Fife license and Title should fix this, our family vehicle has been in storage for years now and this has put a hardship on our family.
