Not only did they take a look Tuesday, but they got the work done (no small job, either) by day's end for which we were very appreciative. Moral of the story is this: If you live in Asheville you're lucky to have this repair shop available. Sure enough he called around 11 to say he did a test drive, found some errors in the computer that he reset and that we were good to go. A negligible and shockingly low charge for his trouble! I was driving Uber in my 2015 Subaru Outback, and the passenger directly behind me announced:…read more"Lindsay, you have a bad wheel bearing." He proceeded to explain that he owned an auto shop and gave me his card. Turns out it was Bruce Berry of International Auto Works. Another passenger the night before mentioned something "sounded off" in my car, so Bruce's comment didn't surprise me or feel salesman-y. We already aren't fans of the service branch of our local dealership, so we decided to give IAW a try. They replaced the wheel bearing in a timely manner and all was well. A few days later, the electric parking brake started seizing on that same wheel. We thought it might be related to the wheel bearing fix, which was disappointing at first. IAW came to our house near UNCA, towed us back to their shop in Fletcher, and ran a plethora of tests the next day. Turns out our battery was failing (and it was not related to the wheel bearing fix at all, just a strange coincidence.) Even so, they gave us a complimentary tow, and again, we had quick and lovely service. I jokingly told Bruce that I hoped I didn't see him again any time soon. That being said, if we do have problems with our vehicle again, you can get we'll be back!

I thought maybe that was a conflict of interest and wanted to take it to my own mechanic. My mechanic was backed up and couldn't get away, so I reluctantly took the truck to Mr. Roland, and I was beyond satisfied with his expertise, service, and kindness. He drove the truck and turned the steering wheel a few times while driving straight and explained why he did that. He turned down the radio to listen for any noises that may have been out of the ordinary. He did a few quick stop-and-go checks to check the brakes. He did a hands-on examination and told me that I would eventually need to have a tiny hole in the muffler repaired at some point, but it wasn't major and recommended a shop. He told me the tailgate latch was tricky to open, but showed me how to open it without problems. And he also guaranteed me that he could beat any price in town. With that being said, a year later, my GMC Terrain started stalling and shutting off whenever I would come to a complete stop, which was kind of scary. I took it to Firestone, and they placed it on a machine to diagnose it and quoted $700+ to fix the issue. I then remembered Mr. Roland and went to see him. He called one of his technicians out, and while the car was running, he asked the technician what he thought was wrong? The technician put his ear to my car to listen to it and told Mr. Roland the exact same thing that Firestone had said. That was very impressive considering they did not have to put my car on a machine to diagnose it. Mr. Roland, not knowing what Firestone had quoted me, said it would cost me about $300+ to repair it. They were kind of busy that morning, but he managed to squeeze me in. I went next door to Cracker Barrel for breakfast, made some business calls, played a few games on my phone, and did a little shopping to pass time. Within two hours, my car was ready. I've been back a few times to have my vehicles inspected and/ or repaired. In fact, it's been a while, and I need to have my GMC checked out again, so I'll be calling Mr. Roland.
