Stay away -- especially women. Tried to scam me during a routine inspection for a less than 5-year old car with fewer than 40k miles. I stopped by on NYE for my annual inspection. The guys at the front seemed nice and friendly, but started to ask me a lot of questions about the car -- probably to size up whether they could take me for a ride. A few minutes later, they came back and claimed that my brakes needed to be fully replaced because the brake pads had "completely worn away" -- in their words, "metal on metal." I knew that our brake pads were due for a change in the next month or two, but because our car gets serviced every six months, I told them there was no way the pads were so worn down they couldn't pass the inspection. They claimed they couldn't pass the inspection, but that they "wouldn't fail" the car, "as a courtesy." Red flags everywhere. Before packing up to go, I asked them to show me. They brought me over and flashed a flashlight on the front wheels. When I pointed out that the brakes and brake pads aren't visible unless the tires are off, they said they'd remove the tires to show me (which they apparently hadn't done yet). I told them no way and headed out of there. Went straight to our car dealer's service center, who confirmed -- on video -- that our car had 2mm of brake pads on both front brakes and should have passed any inspection. read more

I've been going to Gus for over 20 years. Trust and value, end of story. Need a part for my 2001 RAV4 many years ago. He couldn't get the part from Toyota or on the internet. Finally got it after a week and it was the wrong part. He wanted to loan me his daughters car. read more

After years of getting ripped off at the VW dealer (more accurately, "stealer") where we bought our Passat, we started to take it Gus for yearly inspections. What a wonderful decision this was! Gus is very honest and never suggests unnecessary work. Also, Gus performs work quickly and has never kept our car overnight while he works on other cars (another problem with the "stealer"). Thanks to Gus our 2002 VW is still running like new and I can walk home after dropping off the car. Win win. read more

They are an inexpensive mechanic compared to many other places, and Gus will NOT bill you for unnecessary service. They are honest here. I know people who rave about this place and who are big fans, mostly due to the cheap price and because they will not sell you something you don't need. HOWEVER, I also know that sometimes there are problems with vehicles that they simply were not able to repair correctly OR which took multiple visits to repair (they only charge once though). I had a friend who brought his car here six times for the same problem, before he finally gave up and went elsewhere. Yes, they only charged him one time, they didn't charge him when he came back again in a short time with the same problem, and the price was reasonable, but ultimately they couldn't fix it. They didn't say or admit this themselves, but after 6 service sessions for the same problem it became obvious that they just didn't know what they were doing. The waste of time was frustrating. I myself have taken a car here that had to be brought back a second time (once even a third time) because the problem wasn't fixed after the first visit; they didn't charge for the followups though, but it was frustrating needed to go back for the same problem days later. However, again, beyond the one very bad experience my friend had with the problem they couldn't fix after 6 visits, generally they can fix most problems, they do decent work, they are honest, and relatively inexpensive (biggest selling points here are low price and honesty). I would recommend giving them a try. You won't get ripped off. If they can't fix your car, then take it somewhere else. In a worst case scenario, you wasted some time. read more

Absolutely fraudulent. I specifically told Gus to NOT do an oil change just an inspection as discussed. When I came back to pick up my vehicle I pulled out my card and placed it on the counter. As I was looking over the bill I asked what does "oil, lube & filter" mean. He told me "Oil Change". I then said, I specifically told you I had an oil change already. We debated for about 10 seconds and he swiped my card. He then went on to tell me that I wasnt paying attention and that I dont remember etc. The charge was ONLY $25! Why would I agree to something then come back two hours later and debate. He was very reluctant, chuckling with his friends or family that were in the office etc. THere were guys there that were there when I dropped off the car and saw the whole thing but I guess this is what they do daily. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE A PLAGUE!!!! who knows what else they're capable of! read more

THIS PLACE IS A DISGRACE!!!!!! On Tuesday, Aug 4th, I brought my vehicle into M&C Getty Inc (also know as Gus's) at 1676 Front St, East Meadow, NY to have a Vehicle Inspection done on my car. I called at 3:10 pm on and was told my car was "done and ready for pick up." At 3:25 my husband and I arrived at the station only to see my car leaving the shoppe. When I questioned Eddie where my car was I was told he" needed to take the car around the block" seeming odd to me I gave him the benefit of the doubt. After 10 minutes of waiting I asked Eddie again "where my car was" he could not give me an answer while he walked back and forth the front of the lot looking for my car looking very concerned. I became very upset at this point so he took the paperwork and keys to another vehicle that was also in his care to go drive around to look for my car. Keep in mind he would be taking a car he had no right or permission to be driving either to look for my car. After a total of 15 minutes waiting my car it came back into the gas station being driven by "Jose" only to be told by him after asking him about 5 times "where he was" he told my husband he "went to the deli". Yes he took my vehicle without my permission for his own personal use!!!!! How unprofessional is that!!!!! When I voiced my displeasure with Eddie he told me "he would speak to Jose later". Beware if you bring you car there for any work they might decide to go on vacation or shopping while you think they are working on your car. God forbid Jose got into an accident while driving my car without my permission or knowledge who would have taken care of the repairs or been responsible? This is defiantly NOT a good place to have anything done on your car if this is how they do business!!!! Beware!!!!! read more
