I picked up this silver round for $3 over spot which seems to be average for the area.

We called here to see if we could have a brass bell engraved. They were confident in their answer…read morein being able to engrave it so we dropped the bell off with them. We called to check on the bell and first were told the girl who could work on it didn't come in until 10 one morning and they would call us with an update. I'm sure there was some confusion with myself calling and my husband being the person they called back however, after we called to check again on the bell, we were told that they engraved it, didn't like how it came out, buffed it, and would be re-engraving it. Once again, when we called to check on it, we were told that the girl that did engraving didn't work on Mondays. Then, next thing we know, they are telling us they can no longer engrave it. I understand that unpredictable situations occur and perhaps my perception of the experience is a bit different, but we were told they could do something and then after apparently doing work, could no longer perform the service requested. It just felt a bit off... everyone was friendly when we would call so nothing against the employees, just ended up being a situation that set us back on this project (a gift) a few weeks longer than we would have liked and just seemed like we were being given false information.

When the appraisals came back I had to laugh on how ridiculous the appraisals were. They were less than half of what was paid when purchased and with the the authenticity paperwork showing it was a numbered Hearts on fire cut, perfect cut, perfect clarity. Looking at the paperwork for the rings all four papers were exactly the same wording with the appraisal price typed in. The rings were four completely different rings. There was no description of any of the rings beside size. I got them reappraised by two other places after, with them coming out higher than purchased price, and the two other places matched each other. My point.... Don't spend the money to appraise them there and don't believe them especially if you want to sell them to them!

My husband and I decided to stop in and see what it would cost to get my wedding band sized up…read more I handed my ring over, they took a look and gave me a quote. They mentioned getting my ring rhodium plated to brighten up the white gold, and I agreed. The quote I received was $339. I thought that was a little high but do-able. They said they'd have the jeweler take a look and call me if it would be over the quote they gave me. Four days later I get a call telling me the head of my ring needed to be replaced, the prongs were worn. They said I needed the ring re-tipped, and I needed a new shank (which I knew would be necessary since I needed the ring sized up) but also that my enhancer was worn out and the setting for my 24 smalls diamond was worn. All of that along with the rhodium plating would be $1,325 (to do all of that work with just one shank) or $1,675 (with all of that but replacing with three shanks). That is more than quadruple my initial quote. I was expecting maybe $100 to $200 at the very most over quote. Not $1,000 to $1,300, over. It's pretty obvious they didn't want to do the work on my ring and way overpriced it so I'd go to someone else. Apparently my ring wasn't important or expensive enough for them to work on. Why not just tell me you didn't want to work on it? I went to another jeweler in Portsmouth with amazing reviews and was appalled to hear I didn't need most of that work done. I will eventually need to, but it wasn't something that needed to be done right away. This new jeweler said they would give me a call if my ring would cost more than $100-$200. Now THAT is a reasonable price to pay for the work I wanted done. I have had my wedding ring for 18 years and adore it. It means the world to me, and I find my ring worthy of repair. Summerwind apparently thought otherwise. I do not recommend them. They are way overpriced and if they're overpricing things because they don't feel like doing the work, how would the customer even know that? I'm so disappointed in my experience here and will obviously never go back.

VERDICT: AVOID, unless you're looking for gruff men, sarcastic "service", and overpriced coins.read more

I'm not sure where to start.. Ill just present the situation and let the reader decide…read more About a week ago I walked into this store in an effort to come across a capsule for a coin that I had just received as a gift. The coin that I had received came in a capsule (mint condition), however I was looking for one that was just a bit tighter so the coin didn't rattle in the capsule. After walking in with the coin the owners proceeded to open the capsule (keep in mind that at this point the coin is still a mint condition, never been touched, $300 coin.) After opening the capsule and touching it with their bare hands we proceeded to try and find a tighter case. They forced the coin in a capsule and was then unable to get it out. From there, pliers were used to forcibly remove the coin from the undersized capsule. Since there were multiple different capsules out, with little organization the owners quickly lost track of which capsule top belonged with the bottom. The end result was they forced the bottom of the original capsule onto the top of another capsule. I told them this is what I thought was happening, yet he still proceeded to shatter the capsule. From here it was determined that the capsule I was seeking was not available in this location, yet I had no capsule to put it back into to protect it. Needless to say I was quite unhappy at this point. The owners rigged up a bubble wrap contraption to hold the coin during the ordering process, and I left. The end result was a broken original capsule, a bubble wrap rigged box to hold the coin, and fingerprint/scratches all over my brand new, beautiful coin. When returning today to pick up the capsules, one of the owners tried to state that he had in fact broken one of his capsules and not mine. (despite the fact that I walked in with the same bubble wrap contraption I had left with 4-5 days prior.) The other owner, however, felt this was fair and simply gave me the new capsule as a replacement of my original one. I purchased a second one as a backup. So now my coin is encapsulated safely in the capsule, however it can no longer be considered mint because of the superficial scratches all over the face of the coin :-(. The owners are very friendly and approachable, however unfortunately the professionalism isn't even in the same ballpark for coin collectors. Buyer beware.
