Northstar has figured out the balance between a relaxing lounge and upscale restaurant. The service…read moreis friendly and attentive. The leadership is impeccable. We've been to the Kenwood and Liberty Township locations and the consistent nature of their excellence is impressive. From the bright Pad Thai with grilled chicken to the comforting banana pancakes Northstar is Ohio's benchmark for elevated hospitality. Ps Great taste in music Sufjan Stevens was a nice touch.

I also LOVE the setup here. You pay first, get your food second, and everything just seems to run smoothly. No unnecessary waiting around trying to figure out what's going on. My wife and I usually rotate between the pancakes, the hash, the Northstar Burger, or the potato hash. Honestly, you really can't go wrong with any of them. The food is always fresh, portions are good, and everything comes out looking like somebody actually cared about what they put on the plate. We probably go once or twice a week, especially for brunch. At this point, Northstar is basically family. And if you're like us and pretty picky about where you eat, this is definitely one that gets the stamp of approval. Great food, good atmosphere, and consistently solid service. One more thing: I believe they play jazz after 6 PM Monday through Friday, which is always a nice little bonus. Overall, definitely recommend if you're looking for good food with a nice ambiance. Northstar has a permanent spot in our rotation!

We were told this place was great and I would say it was just okay. Our server was very sweet but…read morehad a full section and then was sat with a huge party. They did have a dedicated Gluten Free menu but I noticed that some of the items just didn't come either some of the sides of the regular menu items - so I was nervous to order them because I wasn't sure if I would be full. I ordered the sushi bowl and it was really good though. The chicken tenders were hand battered and looked really good. So overall I'd say it was good, but just not great. PS avoid the sangria unless you like yours tasting like sweet fruit juice.

The service is really good. Seated promptly, waters come out promptly, minor order modifications handled easily. We have really enjoyed the variety of food. My husband loves the salads and the bowls and pizzas are also good. Probably the favorite entree we have had is the fish and chips. We find the drinks particularly reasonably priced and the cocktails are good. We really like the blueberry one. The space is sunny and open. We have been with our kids and see lots of friendly groups dining there. Free parking in the garage is another plus.

For the past year or so, the quality of both the food and the service has been trending downward. Yesterday I had lunch with a friend. The waiter should reconsider his decision to be in the hospitality business. No personality, at all. Never smiled, and deadpan throughout. The food was also disappointing. The crab cake was tepid, but edible. The lobster/avocado flatbread should come with a magnifying glass so you can locate the lobster. It tasted like any other of their flatbreads. Rather bland. The most disappointing was my Maui Tuna Crunch salad. If I didn't know better, it looked and tasted like it was from the previous day. The greens used to be piled high, surrounded by some very good tuna and a nice crunch. Nope- I was served a plate of wilted greens, limp tuna, and the whole thing swimming in toasted sesame dressing. To add insult to my injured eyes and taste buds, it must have been under a heat lamp in the kitchen. The whole thing had collapsed on my plate and given up its spirit. Rest in peace.

To start this place is a "sit down" but you have to order at the bar and they bring it to you. We were a tad thrown off with that since they literally had waiters and people roaming around, didn't make sense to me. But that was just the start! We decided to order nachos and a pretzel to start the meal. The pretzel was disgusting, hard and lacking flavor and the $14 nachos was a side plate with a small portion of nachos on it. I asked the server what was with the size of the nachos and he said he though they were normal. They aren't, you go to a normal bar and for $14 comes out a platter with nachos that are loaded. Then our mains came out, my wife's salad was gross, lacking flavor and with dry chicken and my burger was decent. For $90 this meal should have been WAYYY better. We left feeling very disappointed and will definitely not be coming back.
