I went in w/ a laundry list of issues. Most of them relating to state inspection; and my AC was also not working. The fixed all that needed to be done for the state inspection and recommended that I go to Honda to see if I qualify for the extended warranty on my AC, since that's been a known issue. I appreciate that they gave me the heads up instead of just doing it, because they easily could've made more money off me. Will definitely bring my car back again. read more

I had taken my Toyota Sienna to the dealer who told me I needed a new computer in order for driver arm door controls to work (and wanted an exorbitant amount) . I took it to Lyons automotive to have the battery replaced and the controls on the door panel worked perfectly. The new battery reset the controls. These folks are expeditious, courteous , Honest and fair - Lyons! Additionally, my Sienna was just serviced a couple of days ago by Lyons Automotive. The mechanic (Brook) reviewed the needed repair with me which happened to be the , fan motor in the dash. This repair was expeditiously accomplished. It's difficult to find a mechanic that is honest and good, but these guys are definitely both. I took my SUV in and I had mis-diagnosed the problem myself but of course they figured out the real problem. It's a good thing too because if I had been right it would have been far more expensive. They also found another issue with the vehicle but said it wasn't necessary to fix it immediately as it was a minor problem. The very nice older gentleman who I dealt with explained I could just bring it back if I felt it necessary to fix the minor issue. Ultimately the man who I dealt with was very nice, honest, and the garage did a great job of taking care of my vehicle, all for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend these guys! read more

I don't live anywhere near here. I live in Philly. But on my way to see my parents , my tire light sensor came on. In the past this has meant 2 things, either my tire is this close to being flat or the universe is messing with me. Being 250 miles from home , I didn't want to take any chances so I stopped here. The guy at the desk informed me there were 3 people in front of me. I figured they had me by the #$lls so ok..... In less than a half hour , a man brings me outside to tell me he checked my tires and that it's a problem with the sensor. He also showed me how to reset it. Funny 2 weeks ago at the dealership where the car was leased , with the same issue, they did not offer this courtesy. It gets better, I go to follow him inside to pay, he tells me no charge & to have a nice day. Customer service like this rarely exists. I can't thank the employees here enough. I took it to Lyons to get a second opinion and after a thorough inspection the technician said I had 3 to 4 months left on the brakes and that I they would do brakes and rotors for the price of what the dealer had quoted just for brakes. I tried Lyons based on the reviews I saw here on Yelp, and they're pretty accurate! I called in around 9AM to have my brakes and rotors changed, and to have a weird noise checked out. I brought my car in around 10AM, and they assured me it could be done by close of business that day, or they would call to let me know otherwise. They called me mid-day to give me an update and the price of all the parts and labor (including tax), before starting any work. (I absolutely HATE when a shop begins work before telling me the price and what they're doing.) They discovered and explained to me what the noise my car was making and where it came from. It was an error from the previous repair shop, and said because it was such a simple fix, that they'd fix it at no charge. That is AMAZING customer service, especially since they informed me before doing anything. My car was ready for pick-up at 5:00PM (when they closed on Tuesday), and I wasn't charged for any "extra" parts or labor. The price was reasonable - cheaper than many places that gave me an estimate for brake and rotor replacement. I will definitely be going back to them to future repairs and maintenance. read more

They truly deserve 5 stars. They allow you to bring in your own parts. They don't charge you extra to install parts that you bring in. Some shops DON'T accept parts that customers buy on their own, and other places charge extra for installing customer parts. This place will accept customer parts, but they don't offer a guarantee on it. which is fine. My alternator went bad. It drained my battery as well. My car was already dropped off at another shop *Midas, behind Olive Garden) that someone recomended. They tried to rip me off, nicely of course. I checked with AutoMD for a reasonable labor rate and parts then began calling around some other shops. Other shops tried to sweet talk me into coming in but Lyons was the only one who was straight forward, had great reviews, and met my requirements. read more

I went in today around 4:40 PM because my check tire pressure light was on. I initially went to the Sunoco place down the street and they didn't even check my tires (I went there previously last month when the light came on), saying "It's the cold weather" (It was 55 degrees when he checked) and "Bring it back because we can only check it cold, warm we can't check". I'm normally pretty bad about following up with reviews, but had to make sure I gave Lyons Automotive Center the recognition that they deserve. On Tuesday I ran over a piece of glass on the interstate close to this exit. I pulled off onto the shoulder of the interstate to see and hear that my tire was quickly deflating. I slowly drove to the nearest exit and was so relieved to see an auto repair shop almost immediately off the exit. I went into Lyons and explained my situation. They were very friendly throughout the process and were able to (thankfully) patch my tire so I could be on my way. The service was quick, affordable, and done with a smile. FAIL!! OK. Ever finally meet one of those people that EVERYone loves and thinks is so cool, and you just don't get it because you personally find the person annoying and don't get what everyone is going on about? You sit there wondering if it's you or everyone else that's wrong. That's Lyon's to me. Maybe it's because I'm a transplant and there's some low level of local expectation. If Lyon's sets the high mark, I'm in trouble for mechanical work. Pros: Wouldn't say everyone was licking my boots, but very articulate and seemingly sharp staff. The operational side of the house was pretty decent on timing and calling, etc.. But ultimately, I don't care if you have snot running out of you nose and treat me like crap. My main objective is to get an accurate diagnosis (trustworthy), and a fair cost on the repair. Cons: Absolute misdiagnosis, ridiculous quote. I'll keep it short. I'm a shade tree mechanic, but I work in DC so don't have the time to work on old pickup, anymore. Truck was leaking gas. Not cool. Had visions of some dude flicking a cig butt and a trail of flames following behind me up 234 till it reached me a a red light and blew me up ;) Told them I had gas leaking and the general area around the tank. Their diagnosis? Tank has a leak. Replace gas tank, gas pump, and brackets connecting it all. $850-$900. No thanks. It's a beater, old pickup. That'll be $85. What? To tell me my darn gas tank is leaking?! AMAZING observation. What did that take you? 3 minutes to walk over to the truck and turn it on and see gas leaking? Please understand, I'm all for getting paid. But I don't think they took $85 of stinkin time to tell me what I already told them. So, I thought I'd take my chances and see if I could find the leak and JB weld it or whatever. Finally got around to it, this weekend. Turned the key, ran over to the general area is was leaking. Suprise, suprise, there's a pin hole leak in one of the rubber hose lines. Really? REALLY? All this time it was a simple hose leak. Listen, I know everyone makes mistakes, and maybe I'm the one in a million, but all I can say is if you're gonna grossly misdiagnose me and then charge me $85 for it, you're never going to get another dime from me, and I'm going to share my version of the story whenever folks ask me about my experience. Guess I'm back to spending my weekends getting greasy. read more

Lyons charged me for Goodyear tires with "Kevlar" but I discovered the tires they installed were a lower quality tire w/o kevlar.

We've taken all our cars to Ted since we moved here 15 years ago. He has always done great work and given honest advice, even directing us elsewhere if he knew it would save us money on specialty work (window replacement, mufflers). When repairs were not worth the value of the car, he'd let us know. He has bought at least one car from us over the years and I trust him to do us right...with repairs or sales. read more

I had the car towed to another shop in Stafford and they wanted an outrageous amount of money. My co-worker told me about Lyons.
