I got this on ubereats yesterday and was completely disappointed! I ordered oxtail & rice and peas with "mac and cheese". Now I say that in quotes because what it really is is a mystery. My "mac & cheese" was just a hunk of yellow mush--completely indecipherable. You literally can't see any macaroni at all to the point I thought maybe they gave me the wrong dish by accident. So on that note, I regrettably took a small bite and it was completely bitter and rancid! Immediately tossed it out. A complete upset--this girl likes her mac & cheese. I was scared to even try anything else because who wants to get sick! . Decided to give my platter a chance though. My rice and oxtail platter was room temperature at best. Warmed it up and gave it a try and could tell it was stale. Either it had been sitting for a while or the ingredients themselves were not fresh. The oxtails had a gamey aftertaste to them I have never tasted before in my Caribbean lifetime of eating oxtails. There was also a hunk of random meat in my platter, couldn't tell what it was but it didn't help my appetite. I took a picture on the ubereats support but unfortunately I couldn't retrieve it to show you guys. Ultimately tossed all of it out. Ubereats was gracious enough to refund it. Thankfully so because it was $25 bucks including delivery fee. So disappointing. read more

I wanted curry chicken with mac and cheese. the dark skinned lady with the hard face, told me i only could get rice and peas. then she gave me a hard time over the pricing of the size of the containers of food. never again. Ok so initially I would walk to 135th st to get my Jamaican food, but because I lived right next door I decided to give it a try. In the beginning: The food was very tasty, savory and convenient. Towards the end: I noticed the food started to change. The taste was imitated, artificial. The meat in the curry goat didn't feel tender. But aside from that, what really turned me off was their rating following an incident. The rating: They went from a B to an A (big mistake) upon the grade change going into the next months, the middle of May, I was going to go in to get an order when I saw one of the workers wiping down the glass which shielded the food......the worker, a lightskin older woman, leaned over the UNCOVERED food with the dirty wet rag...I can't believe I ate there BUT then she dropped the rag in the soup. Now, you'd think she would of threw everything away. NO...she took it up out of the soup, squeezed out the rag and left the soup. So disgusting, I reported them the the health department immediately. The first time I ordered its was really tasty(Oxtails, White Rice, Plantains, Jamaican Soda) each time after it was as if i was chasing the first experience only to be let down. Ordered the fishcakes $2.00 each and wanted plantains but they were out. I was excited and hungry and just wanted something to hold me until I got home to eat food already cooked (live nearby). This was like an appetizer. * Problem, it was NASTY, I've eaten LOTS of fishcakes in my lifetime, made from people from the Caribbean as well as from the South as well as making them myself. The problem was that the fishcakes was doughy, pasty, over cooked and a bit burnt, the inside looked like green paste. But, decided not to judge by color since it may be due to spices used. NOT. See Photos * Don't know what they use for the batter, it was thick and doughy no taste, they forgot the spices. The inside pasty, tasteless and just plain nasty, could not finish. Just glad I only lost $4.00 (had 2). * I did call back and spoke to a young lady and told her I was just there and purchased two fishcakes. I asked what kind of fish was used to make the fishcakes (should have done this before purchasing, just asked if any shellfish was used since I'm allergic). She told me they used cod fish, huh? I told her I've eaten a lot of cod fish and cod fishcakes and this one did not taste like cod fish, that I could not taste any type of fish and I eat a lot of fish. I also told her it was doughy and the inside pasty. * I called to let them know that the fishcake was not good, hopefully they took notes and make the necessary changes to improve. I know many people would have just thrown the fishcake away and never gone back. I must say, it was my first time buying food here and my first thought was to never go back but that would not be fair and the other food looked delish. So, called to let them know my experience. * So, I'm that person to give you another chance. But, I will also like to say to them to smile and be a bit more welcoming if they want people to come back because bad food is not the only thing that will keep a customer away. When asking questions about the food, they acted as though I was imposing or interrupting them (man and woman). I have been eating West Indian, Jamaican and other Caribbean foods in NYC for nearly 15 years and this is by far one of the best!!! An unassuming little place tucked away in the block that could be missed but definitely is worth seeking out. The food was incredible and even late at night was fresh, flavorful and satisfying. I just got a plate from here. I received stale Oxtails that were very tough and not hot . Cake behind windows look very stale , food looks left out. Paid $16 for an oxtail roti $5 overpriced , no rice &peas or plantain. If you are used to Brooklyn Caribbean food do not eat here. My coworker suggested it and i grew up around real carribean food . Very glad i didn't order delivery but , i still walked in the cold since it's close by. Hope you guys read this and step y'all game up. 2/9/19 i literally just ate the food if i get sick I'm going to be upset and come back . WASTE OF MONEY . I'm serious! Drove up from DC my Wife and I, my aunt was raving about this place. We love Caribbean food so we went to check it out. We were greeting with big smiles and professionalism from the door. We had the curry goat and oxtail. It was very good and on point. Keep in mind it's Harlem so it's not a huge place, so you may want to get it to go. The prices were very fare and the place is clean. We will definitely be returning on our next trip up. They mentioned they are looking to open a spot in Baltimore, I would be ecstatic. read more
