My belly is happy!!! I had to stop myself! The food is delicious and the young lady who took my order (telephonically) was very friendly. I will definitely order from here again!!!

Ugh, green and pasty, still hoping taste good - NOT. Did not taste any fish

Ordered the fishcakes $2.00 each and wanted plantains but they were out. I was excited and hungry and just wanted something to hold me until I got home to eat food already cooked (live nearby). This was like an appetizer. * Problem, it was NASTY, I've eaten LOTS of fishcakes in my lifetime, made from people from the Caribbean as well as from the South as well as making them myself. The problem was that the fishcakes was doughy, pasty, over cooked and a bit burnt, the inside looked like green paste. But, decided not to judge by color since it may be due to spices used. NOT. See Photos * Don't know what they use for the batter, it was thick and doughy no taste, they forgot the spices. The inside pasty, tasteless and just plain nasty, could not finish. Just glad I only lost $4.00 (had 2). * I did call back and spoke to a young lady and told her I was just there and purchased two fishcakes. I asked what kind of fish was used to make the fishcakes (should have done this before purchasing, just asked if any shellfish was used since I'm allergic). She told me they used cod fish, huh? I told her I've eaten a lot of cod fish and cod fishcakes and this one did not taste like cod fish, that I could not taste any type of fish and I eat a lot of fish. I also told her it was doughy and the inside pasty. * I called to let them know that the fishcake was not good, hopefully they took notes and make the necessary changes to improve. I know many people would have just thrown the fishcake away and never gone back. I must say, it was my first time buying food here and my first thought was to never go back but that would not be fair and the other food looked delish. So, called to let them know my experience. * So, I'm that person to give you another chance. But, I will also like to say to them to smile and be a bit more welcoming if they want people to come back because bad food is not the only thing that will keep a customer away. When asking questions about the food, they acted as though I was imposing or interrupting them (man and woman). Probably the reason only ordered the fishcakes. * I almost walked out without ordering and now I wish I did. This happened today, March 17, 2021.

I have been eating West Indian, Jamaican and other Caribbean foods in NYC for nearly 15 years and this is by far one of the best!!! An unassuming little place tucked away in the block that could be missed but definitely is worth seeking out. The food was incredible and even late at night was fresh, flavorful and satisfying. The offered large portions and exceptional service. I can't wait to come back for their famous Seafood soup. Even my pickiest friend loved her food. It's also super affordable. Don't miss this hidden gem!!!

This is small size and $10.

The food is the real spotlight. The smothered chicken with collard greens and mac and cheese is a must. The yams were perfectly done but definitely on the sweeter side, so just something to keep in mind. I already know I need to come back to try the fried chicken next time. The restaurant's website says "dining at Melba's is like coming home for dinner, whenever you're away from home." We ordered 2 "comfortizers:" Melba's Hand Cut Sweet Potato Wedges and Country Catfish Strips. My friend ordered Melba's Signature Chicken & Eggnog Waffle for her main dish and I got the Signature Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich. We also ordered a side of Creamy Tres Mac & Cheese and Homemade Lemonade. The food was delicious. The chicken was tender, succulent, and juicy. I really really loved the chicken sandwich. I wish I had more to eat when I was done. Our waitress, Tatiana was friendly, helpful and answered all our questions. She even brought my friend a free piece of red velvet cake for her birthday, which was extra sweet. Melba's atmosphere is unassuming as one feels welcomed and at home. We can't wait to go back!

I am Haitian, so trust me when I tell you I know good food when I taste it. This is the kind of food that makes you hum while you eat. The kind of food that makes you forget about your diet and your errands because nothing else matters in that moment except what's on your plate. The flavors were rich, seasoned all the way through, and every bite tasted like somebody's auntie or grandma was in the kitchen putting real love into it. What I really love is that it's buffet style, so you already know I was piling my plate with everything that called my name. You get exactly what you want and as much of it as you want, which makes it even better. Harlem has so many gems, but Manna's is one of those places where you can feel the community and the history in the food. The price is more than fair for how satisfied you will leave, and you will be thinking about that plate long after you finish it. When I say this place is worth the trip, I mean it. If you see me driving down to Harlem again, mind your business, because it is probably just me, my mom, and grandma (who came along for the second ride) going back for another round.

It was wonderful to see customers get up to dance! Red Rooster's brunch menu had much to enjoy and we tried as many items on the menu as we three could. Of course we required 'doggie bags' to take home leftovers. - For Brunch we indulged on their: - Deviled Eggs, Cornbread, Fried Chicken on waffle, Red Velvet pancake with eggs and maple bacon, and Double Smashed Cheeseburger with Fries. Yes, we will have to work off the calories tomorrow, but so worth it! Good list of wines, beers, cocktails and various libations. Friendly staff and servers, although often moving at a slow pace.
