Small Sancocho

Great food and prices! I ordered small Stewed Beef with rice and beans (Res Guisado con arroz & habichuelas) via phone. My order was only $6! You can pay by credit card but they do have a minimum (may be $6 but can't remember). They have minimal seating and it's kind of dark inside so I recommend take out or delivery. I picked up my order without opening the bag to confirm that it was right :( It was not. They gave me stewed chicken and not beef. So I gave it to my husband since I don't eat chicken. He said it was amazing. I ate the rice and beans under the chicken which were delicious and super flavorful. The small is truly a small but they pack a good amount of food into that little container. It's definitely enough for a lunch portion. I've also ordered a small Sancocho (Dominican 7-Meat Stew) (~$5.50) before which was very flavorful but I wasn't crazy about the quality of meat that they used so just ended up eating the veggies and broth. Their food is great and well-priced but check your order to make sure that it's correct which is the only reason why I didn't give 5 stars.

A lunch that was worth 22 dollars for rice and fish . I don't even know what to say . Don't blame it on COVID , because there's a lot of restaurants that at least have the decency to accommodate what you pay for .

I forgot sorry but it's chick and beef I think

This was my first time trying Dominican food. It was beyond my expectation. I'd never had beans before but this place served really good beans, and it was blissful to eat them with the roasted chicken and rice. The grilled banana was also as good as I expected. I would like to come back again if I go back to visit Harlem!

When people see small restaurants they don't really give them a chance. But don't underestimate this little Cuban restaurant! Because they have the best sandwiches in town! My boyfriend and I love coming here for their sandwiches. They have a great steak sandwich and an actual authentic Cuban sandwich. Whenever we don't know what to eat we always come here. They have really good morirsoñando juices too. The service is always quick and great. I haven't tried their other items, once I do I will update my review. But those sandwiches are to die for

Food that's ready to be served that made me wait 35 mins for.

I ordered food here with the guy that has gray hair and glasses, he took my order and told me it's a 20 minute wait and I said I will wait. 35 mins went past and other ppl ordered their food and they dismissed me, the guy left since his shift was over and didn't communicate at all with oTher workers and they are just now taking my order again after I waited 35 mins for the food. Food is great. But very Poor customer service. I do not recommend ordering here if you can't wait more than 20 mins for your food that was already made to serve in front.

This is a great little spot for a solid lunch special.. rice beans plantains. I always get the same thing, it's really good and always hits the spot. Its a $6 lunch special, it used to be five but whatever lol. Sometimes it can be a little frustrating trying to order, but it doesn't always take too long. There's good indoor seating, and stools where you can eat. The music is always on point and the vibe is perfect. The ladies there are hardworking and have great rapport with their loyal customers. Highly recommended to anyone looking for something to hold them down while in Spanish Harlem!

There were only 2 other parties seated and we were seated immediately upon arrival. It's fairly dark inside and the decor reminds me a bit of New Orleans. I enjoyed the ambiance. The drinks were great! I had the cocobella while he had margaritas. The table bread was hot and fresh, so make sure they bring it to the table for you. We had the mussels for an appetizer, lamb chops and bass. EVERYTHING was excellent! The flavor of the broth for the mussels was Devine, so much so my husband used his bread to sop up all he could. The bass had great flavor and came with sautéed spinach that was well cooked. It initially looked like a small portion but turned out to be plenty. The lamb chops were cooked to the requested temp and seasoned well. We left no crumbs. This one is definitely worth a try!

Our Server, Ramon, did an exceptional job. The staff did a great job at clearing finished items and everyone's timing was spot on. We started with the Tostones Rellenos con picadillo (Green plantains stuffed with ground beef). This was a great starter. Large enough to share and I enjoyed the drizzled sweet sauce and whole olives. Our entrees were: Palomilla Steak Platter (thin cut sirloin steak) and the Ropa Vieja (shredded flank steak). Both dishes were accompanied by white rice and we chose black beans and a side salad. This was the first time that I've seen Palomilla Steak presented totally cut into strips and it was a welcomed sight. The Ropa Vieja was perfectly seasoned and the amount of meat was thoroughly enjoyed. I capped off the meal with a Cortadito (A cortado is a Spanish coffee beverage consisting of equal parts espresso and warm, lightly steamed milk. The name comes from the Spanish verb cortar (to cut), meaning the milk "cuts" the acidity and intensity of the espresso. I appreciated the cookie on the side and each sip was amazing. Immediately was intrigued and figured the menu would be just as interesting. The best thing about the place was our phenomenal hostess, waiter, bartender and maître d', Janiel. We stopped in before heading to a concert, and overall the food really hit the spot. We ordered the rasta pasta with chicken and the oxtails with rice and peas, plus patties as appetizers. Everything was flavorful, well-seasoned, and honestly reminded me of the food I had in Jamaica. Definitely satisfied my craving. The ambiance was cute and had a nice vibe, and the drinks were good as well. The only downside was the service--it was a bit slow since there seemed to be only one waiter covering the entire restaurant. Because of that, I'd probably avoid coming here if I'm on a tight schedule. That said, I'd definitely come back again when I have more time to relax and enjoy the experience.

Walked into Margon Restaurant in Midtown and instantly felt like I found one of NYC's secret cheat codes. Small space, big flavors, zero nonsense. The kind of place where you're elbow-to-elbow with strangers but everyone's united by one thing... serious hunger. Ordered the Cuban sandwich -- pressed, crispy, loaded with roast pork, glazed ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. One bite in and I stopped talking... which never happens. This thing didn't just deliver... it showed up early and over-prepared. Then came La Bandera Dominicana Braised beef swimming in savory gravy, yellow rice piled like a mountain, black beans doing their thing, and sweet maduros sitting on top like the victory flag. Simple. Comforting. Dangerous... because now I want it every week. Place gets busy, gets loud, gets chaotic... but it moves like a well-oiled machine. Years of experience and zero attitude. Just good people making great food. In a neighborhood full of tourist traps, this hole-in-the-wall is throwing haymakers. Sometimes the best escape in NYC isn't a rooftop... It's a Cuban sandwich and a plastic tray. And honestly... I'd pick that every time. #nycfood #hiddennyc #midtowneats
