This is a great place to get your creative juices flowing. I've been here for a ladies night out…read moreas well as just for fun with the kids. They have a wide selection of pottery to paint, ranging from $2 magnets on up to huge serving dishes, which are more pricey. On our most recent visit, my kids each selected medium-sized figurines to paint, which cost $11 each. Once you have selected your item, there's a huge variety of glazes and paints to choose from, as well as tons of stamps and stencils, so you can stay as simple or get as complex in your design as you want. The staff is super helpful - they will give you a quick painting lesson before you begin, and they're really friendly and willing to give assistance whenever you need it. They're also super at fixing something if you need a do-over on your piece. There's a studio time fee to use all these resources of $6 per person. There is one main room with several tables, and then two different party rooms off to the side, so you can make a reservation for a group (and get a discount on your studio time fee), or just walk in and paint. Overall, the setting is super cheery, so it's a nice artsy atmosphere to get you in the mood. There are lots of examples to look at. Once you've finished your project, it takes about a week, depending on how busy they are, for the kiln process, and then you can come back and pick your items up. My kids are super excited to see what their creations will look like once they are fired, since the staff explained that the paint and glazes become brighter and shinier once they are baked.

Out of the couple places we've been for painting pottery Firehouse had the better selection and…read moremore of an ambient atmosphere. Only thing is just be prepared for the price because it can be expensive other than that the Women who work here are sweet, kind and beautiful. Thank you for having a pep in your step and for caring about your customers

I haven't been to hobby Lobby in some time. I wanted to look at their canvas and oils for painting,…read moreas well as an inexpensive poster frame. I am not familiar with the store so I asked one of the two employees up front if they could help me in finding the paints and canvas. With a roll of the eyes they pointed in the general direction and told me to "go look over there", then went back to their important conversation with the fellow employee. After finding that they didn't have exactly what I was looking for I continued to look around. I did find a few little items I am going to use for Christmas and took them to the counter. Again being made to feel like I was interruption their conversation, the cashier checked me out. Then without so much as a thank you or please come again the employee went right back to conversation with the fellow employee. This has never happened to me the few times I have been to Michael's, and the pricing is very close to the same. From now on I will spend the extra time and gas to drive across town where I feel my business is appreciated. Shame on you and/or your training procedures for your employees.
