Okay, so my wife had her company kids Christmas party here over the weekend. I only gave this business 3 stars, because there were little things I could see they could improve on. Never having been here before, I decided that I would check them out on their website first. I promptly Googled them, and did a little research. I saw for from the photos, that they did weddings, office parties etc.
Lynwood Ranch offers horsedrawn hayrides, winter & summer and outdoor skating in the winter.(on a nearby pond).
I want to first start out with the buffet lunch that was offered. It consisted of paper plates and plastic cutlery, 5cm by 5cm pieces of jello, creamy coleslaw, Mac n' cheese, hamburger and hotdog buns, with a server at the end of the line portioning out the BBQ beef for the bun and hotdogs for the HD buns.
The coleslaw was good, but I prefer Tony Roma's slaw. The Mac n' Cheese was IMO over cooked and a bit soggy. The buns tasted like they were "day old" buns, they were fresh enough, but they weren't baked that day. The BBQ beef was good, and the hotdogs (what can I say, it's a hotdog weiner).
The servers at the end of the buffet line were IMO a little stingy. They were "strictly" enforcing the one hotdog or one beef on a bun policy they had in place. In fact they ended up writing on paper plates with felt pen, (adults get beef on a bun, kids get a hotdog).
Now to be fair, I don't know if this is what the company paid for but it just seemed like they were watching the numbers. I also want to add that no one seemed to be unsatisfied with lunch as well.
One thing that I found a little odd, is that after most of the atendees were finished eating the staff or workers started eating the food as well. I thought it would of been more apropriate if they announced first if anyone else wanted seconds they could. I was a littlle confused when I saw the outdoor staff, (men in work attire), overfilling their plates with Two beef on a bun, or a hotdog and a beef on a bun. (all overflowing with coleslaw and Mac n' Cheese). Was the staff being fed on the companies dime ?
I also want to add that although they offered hay rides, they could seat only up to ten people at once. When you have thirty parents and kids waiting in the cold, it's not that much fun. We opted out of the wagon ride.
In conclusion, I wanted to touch a little of the facility inside (where we ate). It's a fairly large quonset hut type building, with hardwood flloors with walls lined with Stampede like articles. They also had a ping pong table, which was again not that large group friendly. A foosball table, with a broken right wing player. A shuffleboard table, also good for two players.
I guess you can sum up pretty much what I thought of the "games". read more
