Went with a friend to check out the car. Let me start out by saying, choose another dealer. (1) Car that was advertised on Autotrader.com mileage was inaccurate. The Ad stated the vehicle had 129,676 miles. When I arrived to look at the car and checked the odometer it was 139,800 miles. (2) Car was under snow. (3) When I got in the car to test it, battery was dead. Manager had to get a battery charger just so the car would crank.
At this point, I should have just left the dealership and moved on but I decided to give the vehicle a test drive. Test drive went fine, car drove nice asked the dealer to replace the battery with a new one and made a cash offer. Dealer accepted without any haggling. I found this rather odd. Later on you will see my suspicions were justified. Dealer took car in the back of shop and prepared it for me. Mistake (4) told me friend he could leave and I would meet him later. Signed all the paperwork and car was ready. I got in the car and wanted to know how the security system worked in the car with the key remote. Turned the car off and asked the dealer to show me how to lock/unlock doors to include trunk with remote key. All seemed to work fine, except the car would not turn back on with the key in the ignition. Mechanic (loosely fit term with this dude) came out and proceeded to look over the car from top to bottom. Meanwhile I am sitting inside the dealership for 2 hours and its getting late. At this point, the Manager comes over and tells me that they will need to kept the car overnight. He then asks me if he could give me a ride to the closest T station. I live 50 miles away and tell him there is no way I am getting dropped off at a commuter rail station. Either he gives me a rental or deal is off and I take my cash back. Dealer agrees and I had home.
The Next day, I call the Dealer. He tells me that the security system is malfunctioning and he needs to send the car to the dealership to have them reprogram/fix. In the meantime I can continue to use the rental on their dollar. One week passes and finally the car is ready. I have my friend drive me back to the dealership. Security system works, car starts and I proceed to drive home. The next day the "Service Engine Soon" light comes on while I am on the highway. I pull into a car dealership and ask them to check the light, I just bought the vehicle (not the vehicle has not even been inspected yet as I have 7 days). Dealer checks vehicle, charges me $100.75 cents and tells me that I need a new O2 sensor/front tube assembly (exhaust problem), that the cost of the repairs would be approximately $1400.00 dollars and that the car will not pass inspection for emissions.
I immediately call the dealer. He tells me to bring the car back and they will fix it, so I did. This time they refuse to pay for my rental. They have the car for 4 more days. This cost me another $200.34 cents for rental. I get the car back, the service engine soon light is off and I bring it to get it inspected. It fails both the safety and the emission test. Now I not only cannot drive the car, but I have to have it towed to the dealer. This cost me another $117.00. Car goes back, they tell me they fixed and replaced the parts and that I have to drive the car approximately 150 miles before it will pass inspection. Car passes inspection so I am happy.
Then Yesterday, the "Service Engine Soon" light returns. I am getting a lawyer and suing I am going to sue them. Bottom line. Stay away from these clowns. read more
