Dr. March was my dentist for more than 12 years until last month when I moved from San Diego. She is absolutely fabulous. She is very knowledgable, thorough, patient, and pleasant. She never tried to "up sale" me any type of treatments. Additionally, her dental hygienists were top-notch--very detailed with all cleaning treatments. Everyone in the office including the front desk was very friendly and pleasant. I actually enjoyed going to the dentist! Gee-Ma had been told by another dentist office, where she had been treated for years, that she need over $10,000 in dental work and extractions. Dr. Lynne reviewed their records and did her own exam and proscribed a treatment plan to help G at 1/10th the cost and hassle. THE WORST DENTIST IN SAN DIEGO!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Terrible "dentist" - uses inferior materials (my new dentist was shocked by the materials that she uses), a crown only lasted 1 yr, had bacteria seeping into my body, could have gone into septis, my new Dentist is amazed by her extremely poor level of work. I asked her to pay part of the crown that didn't last and she has refused! Another crown lasted 4 years (they should last 15-20 years) and fell out while brushing my teeth!!!! She has lost lots of patients, including one lady who nearly gagged to death when her filling came loose during the night - Hope she gets the help she needs, sad but do avoid at all costs!!!!! read more

I drove nearly 2 hours for my appointment---truth be told I made a weekend of chillin in San Diego with my friends and had my appointment on a Monday. Dr. March has dentistry in her bones! Her father was a Dentist, and Dr. March has worked in the dental field since she was a teenager. She is VERY thorough; very personable, and very competent. I have good teeth, but I had a couple of decades-old fillings replaced, and she did a great job. Her Dental Assistants are also friendly, thorough, and attentive when they clean my teeth. Who knew going to the dentist could be a positive experience? All of the ladies at Lynne March's office--from the front desk to Dr. March herself-- are very friendly and know their stuff. Angel is the sweetest dental hygienist you will ever meet. She is so pleasant and very thorough but not rough. My teeth have never been cleaner (and I am serious about making sure my teeth are clean on a day to day basis). Their office is homey and nicely decorated helping me to feel very comfortable. I love all the plants. Dr. March seemed very knowledgeable and not like a lot of dentists who might try to convince you that you need some procedure when you don't. Dr. Lynne March is the best dentist I have ever had, she is painless and explains everything as she works, and she does great work! Her Kensington office is in a very unique building you can't miss and although her office is busy (not unexpected given she's a good dentist), her staff is very accommodating and efficient. She has a tiny camera hooked up to a TV that she uses to show you your teeth - very cool. I'm happy to have finally found a dentist, and wouldn't even consider going anywhere else. read more

Worst experience at a doctors office by far. Came in for the first time and was super excited to find a local dentist since I just moved to Kensington. I just got a new insurance and called to make an appointment and gave them all my information. I stressed to them in phone and in person to double check my coverage to make sure it was okay with their office. I came in and got a cleaning which the women told me is 100% covered with my insurance. She moved me to the other room to start X-rays and I told her I had some from the previous dentist I can get sent over but she told me she checked the insurance and it was covered with them and it would just be easier to do it there. Then, they tell me I have a couple cavities and they wanted to take care of them. I said please make sure this is covered because sometimes it takes up to 6 months for a new insurance to cover cavities. They said they would check again and meanwhile while we are waiting they decided to numb my whole mouth to come back to me and tell me that I guess it isn't covered. So I got numb for NO REASON and just had to leave the office all nova-caned up and not be able to go into work because of their unprofessionalism. I've never experienced anything like this before. A few weeks later I get a bill in the mail for almost 400 dollars. Mine you I told them that I was NOT okay with getting anything done at all if it wasn't covered and they told me that everything was that I was getting done. I called several times to fix it and kept getting "oh we are so sorry and we will fix this and give you a call back" and then I would get no call back but a bill in the mail every other day. I must have called 10 times. Called again today and they basically said the bill won't change because the procedures were "completed". Which makes no sense at all to me. They said someone will "call me back" but I guess we will see because I've been told that about 10 times already. I can't believe how unprofessional this office staff is and how they treat clients. I can't get a call back at all from someone that can help me but they can send me 3 bills a week. Thanks for the horrible experience. read more

I just got back from the Dr. March Lynne's office. Although, I never look forward to getting my teeth worked on, she and her team are indeed very good at what they do. - Nice friendly staff - Competent, I feel safe with them working on me. - I love the building and how each room has a large window view of beautiful plants, flowers and trees. Can the phrase "Whoohoo!! As good as it gets!" really apply to a dental experience? I say YES it can! I've been going to this practice since 1989 when it was run for a decade plus by Dr. Gerald Barstow. I found out about it in a very odd way...I worked with a lady who had beautiful teeth..so I was like 'Wow, who does your teeth?' Kinda of a strange approach but she told me she went to Dr. Barstow and I started going and haven't changed! Its close by my home...and even when I lived in 22 miles north, I still came to this practice! When Dr. Lynne March took over the transition was pretty seamless. The staff is professional, the people are friendly and they know me by name (I have been a patient for 20 years...but I referred a friend and she loves it too!). The property is well kept, contemporary and professional. Parking is either on Adams or Vista right out in front. They use the latest and most effective techniques for cleaning, the staff is professional and good at what they do. I was with the same hygienist (Pam) for years so I miss her..but Julie is on the scene now and she is AWESOME, knowledgeable, funny and friendly. She did a laser cleaning procedure on me today that cleaned em up down to the bone!! I gotta say, it was 'different' from what I was used to...but I'm all about the clean 'grill' so I was totally down with it! There are certain services that are hard to find quality, trustworthiness, reasonable/fair rates, etc.. ...a good mechanic, a good hair person, a good mani/pedi girl, a good dentist and a good GYN... and when you have all of those lined up...the universe is good! I had my first appointment with Dr. March. & her staff today. It was the best dentist appointment I've ever had. My old dentist was using a type of sonic cleaner but yet my teeth felt cleaner and better today. Dr. March has state-of-the-art X-ray and picture machines. She showed me things that no other dentist has and she explained everything thoroughly. The staff is very nice! The office is beautiful and I got to watch a hummingbird in a garden while have my teeth x-rayed. how nice is that?! I moved here from the East Coast and have had fantastic dentists - in DC, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, in Falmouth, Maine. I really want to recommend Dr. March and her wonderful staff - they're incredibly competent, have state of the art equipment, are very friendly and accessible, their office is conveniently located in Kensington and the architecture is delightful (which isn't relevant but is much more fun than a dreadful strip mall or corporate business office). She's a marathon runner and is really attentive to a patient's overall health and practices what she preaches. The office provides terrific technical primary dental care as well as cosmetic dentistry. Please do call them if you're looking for a wonderful dental office. read more

I don't review many places, but Dr March and her staff deserve some praise. I moved here from the East Coast, and needed to find a good dentist. Well, I found one. Her office is extremely accomodating. I've had to go in a few times, and each time, they were able to see me on the same day or following morning. I had a horribly painful experience here. I had a filling fall out and I was told on the phone they take insurance. I went in and it turns out they don't take insurance but they got me in right away and I was in pain. I am guessing they got me in so fast now is because they had no patients there at all. She was very rough and I didn't gut numb all the way her shot hurt so much then she drilled and I could feel it. Why drill perfectly fine tooth when it just needed refilling? Well i paid out of pocket over $350 for the filling and and xay. The filling was never right I went in several times for her to sand it down. The third time i was treated like it was my fault or all in my head. I finally went to a different dentist who actually took my PPO insurance and he said she used very poor quality materials and was it cracked and faulty. The crack was resulting in all my pain. He redid the filling (for 53 dollars, my portion full cost for the white filling was $152, half of what she charged me). The tooth now feels great after the other dr did it correctly. This whole time i was in pain and miserable and she treated me like an inconvenience. Do not go here! I would recommend going to a doctor that can actually do a simple filling who is half the price. Not to mention the office seems weird full of clutter in an dated old house with very LOW tech equipment. read more

My first visit to Dr March was for a cracked molar AND I was overdue for en exam cleaning. The whole team was wonderful! I got my X-rays, tooth fixed, and my teeth cleaned and polished very quickly. I cannot believe this dentist still in business,one word up sell. Second word is that I had a crown,that three years later went real bad because of shoddy work(cap was loose). Needless to say I changed my dentist.this is in addition to her raising the prices without telling me nearly 400 dollars that insurance doesn't cover for each of two crowns. Dr. Lynne March is AMAZING! I was terrified of going to the dentist here in San Diego until I went to Dr. March (I had an horrible experience prior with someone local when I first moved to SD). She made me feel extremely calm and explained everything she was doing. She has been doing my dental work for the past year now & would not go anywhere else. Wow! I didn't think that going to the dentist could be this good. The thought of going to the dentist typically gives me anxiety, however, Dr. March and her team were calming and pleasant from the minute I walked in their door. The hygienist was VERY gentle, very positive in providing feedback for better care at home, and the entire experience zipped by! This was my first visit to a dentist in 10+ years (it's a long story) even though I'm only in my twenties. I was super nervous and felt terrible that it had been so long, but every single person here made me feel happy and relieved to be there and congratulated me on coming in after so long and being honest about how long it had been. I can't get over how professional and great everyone was (the receptionist, the technician, Dr. March herself and the hygienist). You could tell this is a team that not only loves working together but also really cares about their clients. Even the vibe in the office was nice and they played some solid classic hits (no quiet & dank 1950s office building). Dr. March was very professional and I really appreciated how every step of what was happening and what needed to be done was explained to me as they went along (I actually found it really interesting). I went to Dr. March after she bought the practice from Dr. Barstow. I had a sensitive area in a molar that did not show any signs of cavities and after my cleaning she looked at it, didn't see any reason for the sensitivity but she still drilled half the tooth away. She told me she didn't find any reason for the sensitivity after the drilling and I was left with half a molar. I had to be fitted for a crown. I had never had a cavity in my life, never had anything other than a cleaning for my teeth at that point and apparently she thought it prudent to drill away a perfectly healthy tooth. And now I have a poor fitting crown with bad margins.Then Dr. March did the exam on my daughter. She told me that my teenage daughter needed to have both her front teeth filled which is odd since she had no visible signs of cavities in her front teeth and the X-rays did not show any signs of cavities. I declined the treatment and took my daughter elsewhere. Nothing was found wrong with her front teeth and she and I have never had a cavity or needed any dental work to this day. read more

I have been going to Dr. March for several years and I highly recommend her. Her and her staff really care about their patients. When I first went, I had neglected my teeth for a while and really needed help in getting them in better shape. Most of the time spent in a dental office aside from extensive work is spent with their dental hygienist. I have had a few really good ones at her office but Sue is by far the best one I have ever gone to. She takes the time to explain any problems or foreseeable problems you may have and how to avoid them. Her cleanings are so thorough but at the same time painless that I no longer dread going in for them which in my case is every 3 months. My last cleaning she was out on vacation so I had a substitute. Not a pleasant experience at all. In fact, when I came home I told my husband that if this was my first visit, I never would have come back. I make sure to make all my appointments with her. Thankfully, she was there today and I asked if they could put a note in my file that if she is unavailable, just cancel and reschedule for when she is available. :) If you are sensitive and do not like cleanings (like I used to be) make sure to ask for Sue for your next appointment.
