I hesitated to write this review because I know this is a small, family-owned practice, and I never…read morewant to unfairly hurt someone's business. However, after our family's experience and receiving multiple second opinions, I feel other patients should know what happened.
We moved our entire family to this practice after our insurance changed. They had great reviews, and I had seen them at community events, so I felt comfortable choosing them.
My two children were seen first. Neither had a history of significant dental problems, so I was shocked when I was told each child had nine cavities--18 cavities total. I trusted the dentist and scheduled the work.
My son had four of his nine "cavities" filled before I became uncomfortable and canceled the remaining appointments to seek a second opinion.
The second dentist told us my son had one cavity, in a baby tooth expected to fall out within about a year. Even more concerning, all four fillings done at this practice had fallen out within nine months.
My daughter, who had been diagnosed here with nine cavities, was told by the second dentist that she had no cavities requiring fillings. She had a few areas beginning to develop in her back teeth that could simply be protected with sealants.
My own experience was just as concerning.
I specifically told the dentist that I prefer a conservative, low-intervention approach. I was told I absolutely needed to replace a large filling with a three-quarter crown. I also mentioned wanting straighter teeth and was told we would address the crown first and Invisalign afterward.
I scheduled the crown with the other dentist in the practice. On the day of the procedure, I had already been numbed for the crown when he came in and told me that because I wasn't having pain, he didn't think the crown was necessary.
Instead, while I was sitting there numb and expecting a crown, the appointment suddenly became an Invisalign consultation. He took photos and quoted me $10,000 for Invisalign, but said he would take $1,500 off if I signed that day. Having previously done Invisalign, I was extremely uncomfortable with the price and the pressure to commit immediately.
The hygienist could tell I was uncomfortable and asked if I was okay. I told her I wanted to leave.
The dentist then said he noticed a small cavity and suggested that since I was already numb, he might as well fill it. He also suggested reshaping/shaving my teeth, altering my gumline, and placing a veneer on a slightly discolored tooth.
After leaving, I could feel a strange "hook" or rough spot on the side of my tooth. I called the next day because I thought the filling wasn't right, but I was too uncomfortable to return to that dentist.
I recently had another dentist examine it. She told me I do not need the three-quarter crown and that the tooth is in good condition and simply discolored.
More upsetting, she found that the "hook" I had been feeling was actually a small area that had been drilled out of my tooth and left unfilled. She did not identify a cavity there that would explain why it had been drilled.
That was the final reason I decided to write this review.
Between my children being diagnosed with a combined 18 cavities that another dentist subsequently did not find, my son's fillings failing within nine months, being told I "absolutely" needed a crown that another dentist said I did not need, the $10,000 Invisalign sales pitch after I had already been numbed for a different procedure, and discovering that part of my tooth had been drilled but apparently never filled, I have completely lost confidence in this practice.
I can only speak to my family's experience, but I strongly recommend getting an independent second opinion before agreeing to extensive or expensive dental work recommended here--especially for your children.
I deeply regret not trusting my instincts and getting a second opinion before allowing any work to be done.
