Saw the fabulous Tower of Power who didn't disappoint! Did all of their classics and had the crowd rockin'.. including the encore! Yes the venue is art deco period 1948 but sound system and acoustics (upgraded) were great, though the guy navigating the spotlight was off , the stage lighting in general was good. Sat in the balcony and the only obstruction is a rail by the first row but otherwise good views . Yes the occasional person musically inspired, does stand and yes folks on bathroom breaks and fetching drinks, but overall it felt like a nice atmosphere in a nice small town. Decent restaurants to dine before shows and decent spots to park. For the right group, we'll check out Lynn again! read more

Went to see Ashanti last night and although she was good, I was not happy with the security or lack there of or whoever is in charge of this but there was a guy in front of us (right next to security) vaping and several people smoking pot. Hey, you do you but not everyone vapes and smokes pot and I don't appreciate that. If you can't smoke than you shouldn't be vaping or smoking pot. That's all we could smell. The Lynn Auditorium is a Mixed Bag. 3 STARS for The Auditorium & 5 Stars for the Entertainment. So 4 Stars. The Auditorium is kind of unique with its multi purpose use. First, the building serves three functions: it houses the city's principal offices, including the mayor's office, as well as the chambers of the city council & it provides concerts & theater arts. The Auditorium really needs to be Fixed Up & renovated. It's dated & it really is not what people expect when seeing concerts. They need better acoustics. If they did a makeover this could be a great place. It is an Art Deco building that has some beautiful marble walls & other striking architectural elements in the building that should be kept & really showcased. The rest needs to be updated but keeping the integrity of the Art Deco Style of the structure for today's modern world. That being said the Lynn Auditorium attracts Big Name Acts & Concerts. You can usually go to a show here for considerably cheaper price than seeing a show in Boston. They have a parking lot you pay for next door & several other paid parking lots in the vicinity. I've seen several concerts here including The Grass Roots, The Box Tops & The Association. This time out it was Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys performing the groups Greatest Hits. The opening Act was the Irish Singer Andrea Magee and her band. The Belfast singer is quite adept at playing the bodhran Irish drum while singing. They performed several original songs & covered Down to the River. When Brian Wilson took the stage it has one hit after another some 27 in total. They fluctuated lead singing between Brian, Al Jardine & his son Matt. They kicked off the evening with California Girls, I Get Around, Little Deuce Coupe, Surfer Girl, Don't Worry Baby sung by Matt Jardine, son of Al. The band also performed Do It Again, Wild Honey, Sail on Sailor, I Can Hear Music, Wouldn't It Be Nice, Sloop John B with Al Jardine. The Band also sang God Only Knows, Good Vibrations, Help Me Rhonda, Barbara Ann, Surfin' USA, Fun Fin Fun & Love & Mercy. What A Fun night of Beach Boys music where the audience sang along to many of the hit tunes. It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really rich to have The Good Life, not anymore. Bought tickets for an eight o'clock show through ticketmaster show was changed to seven o'clock with no notice from Lynn auditorium box office or ticketmaster, missed the act I bought the ticket to see, contacted box office manager that time was changed with no warning, response was you're wrong, some people were contacted so you can't say there was no notice you just didn't get notified. Awful auditorium! Awful venue! I went to see a film in this auditorium yesterday and it was pitiful! The sound was just from two speakers on stands at the very front of the auditorium, and it wasn't loud enough to be heard further back than the front. Then, of course, the sound was muffled too, because the sound system stunk. The picture was rather small on the rather small screen which left blue lights on, on either side of the screen. The whole place is just crumby in my opinion. People were being seated before and especially during the movie, which started 15 minutes then it was scheduled to. Ushers and police congregated in the aisles while people stood up letting people move in and out of the isles. This continued throughout the whole of the movie! The seats are very close to one another and the aisles are very marrow. I suppose the crowds of people that you get in this area were dead-common as well, which added to the problems of people stealing other people's seats. The bathrooms were a joke. The "booths" were miniature. The urinals were big things out on the floor. It was very depressing to honest. The speakers afterward couldn't be heard very well either. I spent over a hundred dollars for this event and it wasn't worth it. I will never attend anything at the Lynn Auditorium again. read more

Purchased tix for Air Supply (10/18/19) without knowing anything about this venue as we were going to attend this concert during a vacation to Boston (after never having been to Massachusetts.) Full disclosure: I cannot pass judgment on acoustics as we were so disgusted we decided to take a loss on the tix and leave before the band ever took the stage. The location is not in a safe neighborhood, nor is the location a "proper" concert hall...it's the City Hall of the city of Lynn, MA. While we love old buildings, historically & architecturally, they don't serve well as concert venues. They do not provide reasonable parking, but since we arrived early enough we were able to secure parking in the Salvation Army parking lot (about half a block away) for a "donation", the amount of which is left up to the donor. The general concertgoers were very rude, making for an unpleasant environment. The restrooms were old (clearly never remodeled), and would have been most appropriate for middle schoolers. We made our way to our uncomfortable seats that left very little room for 'personal space'. About 5 minutes before the concert was scheduled to begin, two women in their 70s were escorted to the seats directly behind ours. One of them managed to spill her wine all over me. Not only did she fail to apologize for it, she didn't even acknowledge the spill. A female usher (of their era), witnessed the spill (and lack of acknowledgement), but instead of doing something about it, she proceeded to carry on a lively conversation with them. [We are not young people, so the reference to age was made due to the shock we had that people not too terribly much older than us would behave in such an inconsiderate and disgraceful manner. The fact the usher did as well was abysmal. We noticed plenty of patrons behaving in a way not befitting the occasion.] Our experience really warranted a '1', however, I wanted to be as fair to the venue as possible. We cannot recommend this venue, nor the employees tasked with working events of this nature. It was a colossal waste of money in many ways, and an utter disappointment. We will NOT return to this venue. Save your money and time...choose a different location in a safer city. Shameful! read more

I'd never been to the Lynn Auditorium and went here on a Sunday evening to hear Josh Gates (Expedition Unknown) speak. First off, the parking sucks. The lot is tiny compared to capacity. We were 30 minutes early and it was already full as were the side streets. We parked about 2 blocks away which is okay when the weather is fine but would be an inconvenience in the winter. The auditorium really shows its age. Bathrooms are located downstairs and the women's room had 1 roll of toilet paper to share. You would think they'd clean and stock it before an event... only 2 stalls so you can imagine the line. A few of us went over to the men's room (which had plenty of toilet paper). Not a great beginning. They were selling over priced water, beer and wine plus Utz chips (??? weird) at the entrance. Supposedly there was a Josh Gates merchandise stand but I never saw it. The seats aren't stadium so you have to crane your neck a bit. I was near the stage though and no issues. The production was great. It was a huge crowd and an enjoyable evening. If you can, escape a few minutes early. I thought there was going to be a stampede exiting. It was slow going as the balcony used the same exits and people were getting angry as the crowd just didn't move. I would enlarge the exit doors. I came away wondering what would happen if there were a fire or anything that required fast evacuation. I probably wouldn't return there - it was just okay and exiting and finding parking was a hassle. Thumbs up to the Josh Gates event though - he was fantastic! read more

I normally would never post something like this. But I went to see Christmas Vacation an evening with Chevy Chase 12/17/21. The movie viewing was great , and the QA with Chevy and his wife was spot on and entertaining. My problem lies with the venue and how they handled the meet and greet afterward. Our seats were in the first row of the PIT and we had paid more for our tickets . We were told to stay put and then would be brought to the door to enter to meet Chevy after the QA . NOT the CASE !!! THE 100 + people behind us jumped in front of the pit , there was no order at all many people voiced their concern but for the most part it fell on deaf ears ! We ended up leaving due to the lack of action and frustration without the meet and greet. . By no means does this reflect on Chevy or his wonderful wife, my frustration is solely with the venue!!!! I will never be back to this venue! read more

We had a very positive experience on our first visit to the Lynn Auditorium for the Oct-2016 Boz Scaggs concert. Some of the negative reviews here describe unexpected situations like audience disruptions or logistical issues, and that can definitely ruin an evening. But when everything goes OK, this place seems like a good choice for performances that benefit from the intimacy of a smaller venue. It also helps that tickets prices are lower and the crowds less smothering than with the big arenas. We learned here that parking might be tricky so we drove in early enough to have dinner and ended up at the Blue Ox, which is a 5 minute walk away. That helped to make our evening more enjoyable and relaxed. Most performance venues in the greater Boston area are imperfect, and the Lynn Auditorium is no exception, but we'd be happy go back again. read more

I had no problems with parking my car when I arrive early and enjoy a meal at Brothers Deli before the show. What I do have problems with are the very tight seats and the view from some of the seats, especially when another person in front of me decides to get out of their seats to dance with no regards to the people behind them. Not everyone is young enough to do that. This is not a dance club but a theater to enjoy a show and a fun night out. To be sitting in those seats for sometimes more than 2 hours can get very painful. Those who are in charge should look into stadium seating like a lot of venues have these days. read more

The venue itself is OK, but the security is lax. We saw Boz Scaggs on Oct. 17, 2014. I saw no fewer than FIVE people ejected from the venue for rowdy behavior. (This wasn't a rock show; Boz plays the blues! There should have been no rowdiness at all.) Two drunk people spilled their wine all over me, and then picked a noisy fight with people in the row in front of them. Another woman would not stop screaming (even during quiet songs), and actually started climbing around between the rows. I had all of these people thrown out, but it was a real pain having to interrupt my enjoyment of the music to go get security each time. Why weren't security paying attention and taking care of it themselves? Another lousy decision on the part of the management was that they do not make latecomers wait for a specific "late seating" time. Ushers just show latecomers to their seats whenever they arrive. We were made to keep standing up in the middle of songs to let people in. Entire rows in front of us would suddenly stand up and block our view. It was impossible to relax and enjoy the music. This went on for a full 30 minutes of what turned out to be only a 90-minute show, including encores. (Management REALLY need to create and enforce late seating procedures, individually coordinated with each performance act.) Also, not enough bathrooms. Only three ladies' stalls, for a venue that seats over 2000 people. The lines snaked out the door. For a "renovated" venue, I expect more, both from the facility and the staff. P.S. - To anyone who buys a ticket to a show with assigned seating and proceeds to stand up and dance in front of your seat, you ought to be embarrassed. Standing up and blocking your fellow concertgoers' view is unacceptable behavior. Since no one taught you any manners, I'll tell you: you may not dance in an auditorium. You bought a seat. Sit in your seat and enjoy the show. Go to a venue with general admission and an open floor if you want to dance. read more

I think "throw-back venue" would be the best way to describe this venue. Its about as bare bones as it comes. Parking was, as others stated, a nightmare. I suppose if you know the area it would obviously be easier but not knowing the area, it was trying. Particularly in winter when you are dealing with snow banks and poorly shoveled sidewalks in the area. We saw Chazz Palminteri's one-man show here and the atmosphere of aged theater, actually lent to the show itself. Not sure the same would be said for a musical show. We had seats in the balcony so the view was perfect and no issue whatsoever with acoustics. Wine and beer sold at concession was also a plus. I would not hesitate to come back (depending on the event) but would definitely come early and plan for the parking headache. read more

Kim F. I was at the show for Cesar Milan too. It was awfully hot. I was told by someone that night that the new AC did not start up as the contractor said it was supposed to. So, I agree that night things we way off. I have been to other shows there before the AC and in cooler weather and the venue was really good. I saw Foreigner, Frampton and George Thorogood (great show) and things went great. There is parking around the venue, you have to know where to go, the Box office people on the phone were very good directing us where to go. I have parked at the same location each time. I bought tickets for Alice Cooper this morning, I was in the building and they let me walk into the Auditorium so I could feel the AC, it was up in running. Looking forward to next show. Small, hidden away in the city town hall, this theatre is in a local that's both underwhelming and under served. There are far more prestigious venues that offer more charm, history, and service. Parking was a joke. The seat I got was decent as the stage was close but the seats are incredibly uncomfortable,they don't recline and have poor padding. The acoustics and speakers were horrible! I was bearly able to hear anything from the 10th row. Add to that the number of performances here are under par, this is one place I'll never come back to! read more

Recently saw The Doobie Brothers- November 2018. Great price on tickets and reasonable drinks. Nice small venue so all seats are good but the seating is tight. Your smooshed up against your neighbor and the entire row has to get up if you need to go to the bathroom. No room to stand or remove your coat. The sound system could be a little better but overall good experience- nice, clean safe place to see a concert. read more

There's some nostalgia to this place and it has been a Lynn landmark forever. Granted the parking is hard to find, and it's downtown but I went here a lot as a kid, as a result of then most of the acts were put on solely for schoolchildren in the area...i.e---Up With People, Annie and shows like that. Now the Auditorium has a full range of concerts and shows set for the upcoming Fall and Winter. Should be interesting to see how much it has changed and the people who will come to these considering a majority of those probably graduated from high school on the stage. Worth checking out. I have been to many shows and even a lecture at this wicked cool auditorium and have never been disappointed. I'm happy to report they even enforce a no cell phone/photography rule, because we've all been behind that person who never puts down their camera. Similarly, when I pay big money to see/hear a show, I want to see it and hear it, or I wouldn't choose the auditorium as a venue. While they do serve refreshments, it's not a bar and I appreciate not having to see around people dancing. Thanks to the ushers for all the hard work they do in that regard. The only thing that bums me out are the quaint but outdated bathrooms! The lines for the ladies' rooms get looonnnnggg. read more

Yeah, this was weird. Went to see a classic rock band here (the entire way my husband and I were wondering why they couldn't have just played the orpheum or wilbur or something but ok...). Seating is super cramped and the security staff is...crazy? deranged? anti-fun? I'm not sure of the word but I saw numerous people being told to sit down if they were standing up, stop dancing if they were dancing and to basically sit in their seat and not move. It was bizarre. I realize this is the town hall, which is a racket to begin with, but to allow no fun to be had when you pay to see a ROCK show is absurd. The band itself was fantastic but I would definitely choose to never come back here if I had to. read more

No parking, had to park several blocks away, bathroom lines for females longer than the walk to the parking lot. Gipsy Kings were awesome as usual !!!! I enjoyed watching people dance and thought it was terrible that some were asked to sit (A.C.). Went to see Cesar Milan at this venue on July 11th. Supposedly, the air conditioning was going to be working for the show, but it was not. And the outside temp was in the 90's. With a full house of over 1.000 people. There were some floor fans, but they were inadequate. As was the sound system - couldn't hear Cesar for half the show. And the fact that they seated HOARDS of people for the first half hour- 45 minutes into the show was just incredible! We couldn't see, hear or feel comfortable! I wrote a negative review on Lynn Auditorium's Facebook page, as did several others, asking for an explanation for the horrendous experience - I don't see any of those comments on the page now. Makes me very skeptical of the management of that venue. Don't see going there again. read more

I've been here a few times over the years, and always thought it was an OK place to see a show. But after this most recent time I don't think I'll be back. At the beginning of the night, I went to the upstairs bar to grab a beer and a Coke. They had 2 draft beers, Coors light and harpoon IPA, diet Coke, Ginger ale, Sprite, and 2 wines... Pretty sad choices for an establishment in 2018. I asked for the Coors but it was only delivering foam, so harpoon it is. I asked what time they stopped serving, he said half hour before the end of the show. I said "so 920, 930?", He said yeah sounds right. So I hop back in line around 905, I'm probably the 12th one in line and one more guy behind me, and the usher says "no more, this is it right here!", Referring to the guy behind me. There were a lot of people up there surprised they were closing so early. So when the guy 4 spots ahead of me gets to the window, they slam the doors right in his face. We're all looking at each other, and the usher, like "wtf man?". He said hey that sucks but nothing I can do. They couldn't serve the last 5 people in the building? At this point a song ended and a bunch of people came out looking to grab another beer. This was followed by a lot of annoyance. So no, I won't be back. Drink policies shouldn't be secret, and if you're in line, you shouldn't have the doors slammed on you. read more

I've been to the Auditorium for quite a number of events now. Howie Mandel--who was hysterical, and I've also seen Pat Benatar, Foreigner and Get the Led Out, all were rockin! The sound is good, the ushers are nice and I love the old, historic feel of the building. It's nice to not have to truck into Boston to see a great show and have a fun night out!! read more

I have seen a number of shows at the Auditorium and they have all been very well done, with the exception of the Southside Johnny show (which the sound was terrible and it was like listening to one long song for 1.5 hours) - The Fools, however were very entertaining and the sound was perfect during their opening act. I have only been to spring and fall shows, and at that time the temperature was comfortable. The bathroom and refreshment lines were a bit long, but that's what you get when you go during intermission. Nothing you can do when a large group of people have the same plan as you. As far as the "no cell phone photos rule" goes, I personally would like to take a photo of a band I am seeing and show my friends later what a good time I've had. While I understand folks can get a bit obnoxious, it isn't everyone and a rule like that should be in place when people get out of hand and folks complain. I spent more than $75 to see BB King, and by all means, I'm taking a photo... As far as parking goes, there's St. Mary's parking lot, the lot on Andrew's Street, Market Street and various close to City Hall businesses (I think Verizon is next door) that provide parking options. I'd suggest, like someone else, asking the ticket office people for places to park if you are not local and are looking for close by options. I have had people dancing around in front of me at one of the shows I went to, and it did get to be a bit much. However, I went to a Skynyrd show at the Lowell Auditorium and the entire crowd never sat down - I suppose it depends on the band and the crowd. Overall, I believe that the shows have been very entertaining and I recommend them to people all the time. I have been to two shows already this year and have one more coming up. The Auditorium provides popular bands within my very own city, what's not to enjoy?... And, no, I do not work for the City. read more

Our first concert at Lynn Auditorium(which is actually inside City Hall). We saw Pat Benatar, and she did a great 1h45m set. A nice room that appears to have been renovated in recent years. The sound was good, and the crowd had a great time. It looked to be close to a sellout. The seat numbering system is a bit funky, but the staff helped us out, and took us right to our seats. Plenty of free parking near the building. We parked up the street at a shopping plaza, but were told that there was parking behind the building, and at a nearby church. A block or two to walk, but you can't complain when it's free. We started the night with a nice meal at Rosetti's. The bartender recommended reservations on show nights. it was very crowded and we ate at the bar which was plenty comfortable. We will definitely be back for more shows and try the other restaurants in the area that others at the bar told us about. Lynn is definitely on the upswing. What a pleasant surprise! read more

I just went and saw Cheap Trick. I found the staff to be very nice and knowledgeable. I even had the pleasure of speaking to the head of security, a very nice man, w/vast knowledge of the building & its history and very accommodating. The stadium itself is an excellent place to see a concert, especially if you're down in the Orchestra. It is a beautiful tall building right smack in the middle of city center. Has beautiful marble & wood inside, a grand staircase, & the seats are new & very comfortable. They serve beer, wine, water & Rita line of drinks by Budweiser. They have a couple of bar areas, and even when the lines were long, they moved really fast. The drink prices are comparable to other similar venues, $7-$8 for liquor & $2 for water. Sound quality was great. It's a smaller venue which is really nice. Seating capacity is listed as 2072. For comparison Orpheum is 2700, & House of Blues is 2500, but much nicer than the Orpheum, seats far more comfortable, sound much better, and staff much nicer. As to HOB, which I love, this is a much less expensive venue. Lots of nearby free parking on the street and 1-2 paid parking garages. If your event is after 6 pm, you don't need to worry about putting money in any meters, as Lynn doesn't require post 6 pm. If you want to dance, you're better off being down in the orchestra then up in the balcony. The crowd at Cheap Trick down in the front, we're all standing and dancing throughout the entire concert, which made it really fun. Well worth the extra 20 minute drive out of Boston. I go to a lot of concerts in the New England area, and I would absolutely recommend this venue to all. read more

Brian Wilson's concert on 4.29.17 was my first concert at this venue. I would definitely come back for future concerts. I sat on the floor, the acoustics were excellent, and the intimate size of the theater guarantees you will be close to the stage. There is plenty of free parking in a shopping plaza just a few minutes' walk from the venue. The one negative was the restroom situation. Although I heard there were other restrooms on other floors, the restroom outside the entrance to the auditorium had only 2 stalls and 2 urinals. Amazingly, there was no handicapped stall, which proved a challenge for one patron waiting in front of me for the restroom who was in a wheelchair. The staff was professional and this beats trekking into Boston!! I highly recommend this venue if there is an event there in which you are interested! read more

I was at the LMA last night. Cesar Millan (the dog whisperer) was headlining. Parking was tough but after driving around a bit we found a spot on a side street not too far away. There were 2 lines out the doors, down the stairs and for a good ways down the street. Quick tip...go to will call instead of printing your own tickets, you don't have to wait in line. I should have known something was up when the cop crossing us commented on the fact that I wouldn't need the jacket I was carrying. As we started up to the balcony we understood what he was talking about. My friend said she hoped it was cooler at our seats. The sweating woman descending from the top of the stairs just shook her head no. Cesar, already on stage was apologizing when we got up there but we couldn't hear him because his mic was going in and out and they had to keep going back and forth from a hand held to a wireless and back to the hand held. I really felt for Cesar. He was quite entertaining and knowledgeable but was distracted by all the technical difficulties beyond his control. At the break, they handed out free h20. I used my bottle to put on my neck to cool me off. I brought my jacket because I'm always cold. Not in this event.The crowd looked like a bunch of wilted flowers. We ended up leaving before the end because we couldn't take it anymore. Cesar gets 5 stars for not loosing his #$/! and believing the show must go on. LMA gets 1 star for long lines, knowing there would be no AC but having the show anyway and for a horrible sound system. I just read an article from the lynnjournal.com from June 25th that stated that "a new AC system is slated to be ready for the July 11 Cesar Millan show". Looks like it didn't quite make it. I was not at the Dog Whisperer show, have been to others. The rock shows have been really great. Saw Ian Anderson with a bunch of people. Sound was good, lines were a little long for the beer line, but, overall it was a good venue. read more

Single handedly the worst venue I've experience. We were at the gypsy kings concert..... Again I stress a music concert. You know those events where typically fun and dancing is had by all. I've been to over 60 shows in my life and I have never been told to SIT DOWN and not dance and enjoy MUSIC at a CONCERT. Every time we stood, ushers were there shortly, with flashlights, to tell us to sit. We were a dozen rows from the back. We weren't in anyone's way or in aisles or being obnoxious. I will never pay money to go to a show there again. More fun and excitement is had at church... At least I can sing and dance there. Thanks for nothing Lynn auditorium. read more

The Lynn Auditorium was an awesome experience! I saw Jethro Tull there and what a great time! It was easy to get to, clean, and the staff was very professional! The ushers are great and keep people in their seats. There is nothing worse then someone standing in front of you at an auditorium. They now have air conditioning. Parking was easy. I parked a block away. Best of all it was free. They also have some great restaurants now to go to before and after. The Blue ox, Rosettis, and soon R F Osullivans! All within just block or two. I can't wait to go again! The same night in Boston would have cost me more then twice as much. Inexpensive tickets+inexpensive drinks+inexpensive food at top quality restaurants+free parking=will return soon! read more
