My most recent play was Misery and all I can say is WOW! they did an amazing job working with a small set to create a story that delivered a fantastic performance. It is a small theater but there are no bad seat in the house. They also have special offers for tickets that can make the experience more affordable. The variety of plays include many multicultural plays or including multicultural cast members. I applaud their commitment to diversity. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Parking can be street parking or you can park at the church lot next door during performance nights.

I think they started in Las Vegas and then opened branches/troupes in various cities, Boston being one of them. Performance artists who did some crazy tricks, played unconventional PVC tube type instruments to rhythmic tribal beats, and had the uncanny habit of making audience members be a part of the show and feel nervous. The band was above the stage, oddly, on a platform above where the tricks and performance artists were. The music was OK, but after hearing two or three songs you realize the music all sounds pretty much the same. The band was a music-only/non-vocal four piece band: Chapman Stick, Bass, Keyboards, and Drums. The show was OK. The company bought us the ticket, after we had lunch in Central Square, Cambridge, and we all met up at Park Street Station and walked over to some theater. I never would have gone on my own accord, but it was a company event. If you've seen it once there is no reason to see it twice, good but not that captivating. Thing is, that really struck me as odd and trashy... the tickets were not cheap, in fact back then it was $55.00. But as we all exited, two of the band members were at the exit doors with these big buckets looking for donations/tips. I've never seen that before.

They still had a lot of the same acts that still stand and bring lots of laughs as well as new and hilarious ones. This time I was sitting in the fourth row, pancho section which was perfectly close enough to the stage, but not too close where I was cranking my neck. I don't wanna spoil any thing from the show, but here are some helpful tips: - if you can, get middle section poncho seats - if you're in the poncho section, dress light! it gets hot under there - the music is amazing and loud! (They provide ear protection by request). - they also provide masks - boosters available for the littles - have a special occasion? You can contact them 48 hours before the show to have a special LED message displayed. - post show meet & greet for additional $$ - bathrooms are super clean as well as the waiting area - merch available - Bar with small snacks and lots of seating in the waiting area Bring the whole family it's very kid friendly and they will have an awesome time ! Street Parking not that great and be careful of parking on Tremont as there is tour bus parking after 6 PM and they will tow! Lots of lots available, where you can also pre-pay

Parking is on the street or a few blocks away in lot on the street to Rocky Neck. Four-star Duckworth's restaurant nearby but call way in advance for reservations.

I went to the semifinal show held at the Coolidge Corner theater. We were a few minutes late, due…read moreto rush hour traffic, and had a friend saving seats for us. We were surprised to find a line at the top of the stairs! It was a fairly quick wait in line before we were seated and the show began. The stories themselves? Good, to very good. I was surprised to see most of these people to tell a story in the allowed 3 minutes. It was very enjoyable to listen to most of them. What didn't I enjoy? The emcee was not good. Haltingly passed information on to the crowd, and awkwardly moved the show along. The musical intermission of sorts - seemed strikingly out of place and fairly inappropriate in it's introduction and presentation. I like the idea of how the show works, with audience participation, it seemed like there were a few stressors going on that didn't normally occur, perhaps cause the first year of shows were drawing to a close? Who knows. I'd go back to see one of the shows. Usually held at bars, a good opportunity to grab a drink, a meal and be entertained.

Took a weekly 4-week class Intro to Storytelling last year…read more Each week instructor reminded participants to "own your story and allow yourself to be vulnerable." I did just that. On week 3 we each told our stories to the class for feedback. When I was done telling mine that instructor's feedback (in front if me and the entire class) was, "I'm not buying your story and no one else will either." Thankfully two participants called her out as did I. A few days later I sent her an email to let her know that she had made a mistake. Never received a reply. It's probably best for this organization to screen their instructors for actual TEACHING ABILITY (and not hire adult children with unresolved passive aggressive tendencies who will attempt to do harm to people for being vulnerable) which is different from being able to tell a story in front of a group. Regretfully I can't recommend MASSMOUTH as a teaching entity. Since I've not attended their slams I am unable to comment on that.

This year was Hispanic music. They were joined by a "Les Fleurs Caraibe" a women's singing ensemble from a church in Hyde Park. They stole the show! I have been attending their concerts for over 20 years and listening to their recordings for almost 40 years. They just seem to get better as the years roll by. This is a wonderful local group which has garnered world-renown. I recommend them highly. The Christmas concerts are a wonderful tradition, but all of their concerts are of world-class excellence.
