There were still some fixtures left unsold, mainly mannequins, clothing racks, and some display stands. I was surprised how much inventory The Bay could get rid of. The jewelry section had a lot of people, but even if those cannot be sold on the last day, I'm sure it won't be wasted. Maybe if more sales event were done before getting bankrupted would have saved them. Now that Canadian Tire bought them out, it would be interesting to see what will be done to the store in the future when they choose some to reopen. I bought a dawn feather jacket from the online store around Dec. The shipping was pretty fast, like within 2 days. The quality was good, very light, but still very warm when I went out on the colder days. I got the black colour as it's the only colour left available. $110 for the dawn jacket was a steal. I really do hope they make good use of the real estate.

Fairview Mall is one of the older malls in the GTA. The selection of stores inside this mall has…read morebeen updated and renovated many times throughout its lifespan. The busier stores always have good service and good staff. The mall staff themselves are great. Guest services is among the most helpful in the GTA. What needs improvement in this mall is it needs proper expansion and removal of outdated stores (when the lease expires of course). There is no distinction in the direction of what the mall is selling as a category. On the weekends it gets crowded with all sorts of demographics shopping. The security staff seem swarmed. And parking is a game of survival! I expect it to improve once a proper tenant or use has been found for the now vacant Hudson Bay and the surrounding area. Right now I recommend most to visit on the weekdays, unless bumper cars in the parking lot is a ideal.

Fairview Mall has gone through an evolution and reimagination of the retail space. I love how they redeveloped the space where Sears used to be. The space is now converted into a mini Chinatown spot with Saint Germain bakery, bubble tea shop, Hong Kong style cafe, Thai restaurant, and a T&T Supermarket. On the top floor there's a Marshalls / Homesense big box store. I noticed the Zara store has been renovated and now occupying 2 levels. The store looks immaculate and love the modern layout and self serve checkout kiosks to make shopping faster for DIY people. I managed to do some shopping at H&M and got some great deals in the sale section. I also bought some groceries like green beans, lychee, bbq pork buns, and curry beef pastries. It's not very often you can go to regional mall and be able to buy clothes, groceries, and bakery goods. It was a pleasant experience. I look forward to the transformation of the vacant Hudson Bay space. Oh did I mention they have a Playdium arcade in the old Sportchek space beside the Cineplex theatre.

This is both disappointing and odd since Nordstrom started off as a luxury shoe store.) I don't buy fragrances often, but when I do, it is a careful decision that requires a lot of time. And when I'm in a funk or feel stale, I tend to gravitate towards the perfume counter and just explore... Sales Associate, Leyla let me do just that...explore. I had a coupla specific brands (Byredo/Acqua di Parma) in mind to check out, but Leyla also introduced some other brands to me. She was very generous with not only her time, but her knowledge as well. I received much better customer service here than at HR on Bloor last week! So your experience anywhere really depends on WHO helps you out!

The eclectic mix of vintage shops selling $90 stained denim and faded t shirts, questionable hygenic eateries offering all sorts of international foods, friendly dive bars with cheap drinks and cheap drunks, and lots of graffiti. Local residents appear to be Sub-Talented Street musicians playing aggressive tambourine solos, amateur art students whom will someday be working at Tim Hortons or Pizza Pizza, the more than occasional homeless person walking by speaking to himself. Kensington Market is Toronto's fiercely independent, Bohemian heartland that fights off chain stores while serving up incredible global street food. It is a vibrant, messy, and endlessly entertaining maze of decrepit Victorian houses turned shops, a perfect marriage of gentrification and counterculture. I love it all! It's one of those places where you don't need to plan ahead of time; you just walk around and enjoy. The food options are endless; from Mexican restaurants to Italian cuisine, burgers, bars, to cafés and pastries. It can get pretty busy, especially on weekends, but that's also part of the atmosphere.
