My experience here was shocking, and I can only assume the two 5 star ratings are friends or family or something. I should have walked out the moment I got there and almost did so many times, but I had so much hope going into the experience because I have heard amazing things about lymphatic massage and did a lot of research beforehand, so I hoped it would be helpful post operation. Hopefully this review will help others know what you're getting into before choosing to go here.
First off, however, the place was filthy. Everywhere. The bathroom, the office space, the massage room. The staff seem completely untrained in any capacity. Nobody washed their hands once. I booked with Katrina, who was very sweet, but I'm sorry to say didn't seem to know what she was doing when it came to lymphatic massage. She was working at the desk, handling pens and credit cards then took me in and threw a sheet over a very stained pad, had me undress and took pictures of my body with her personal cell phone for comparisons before and after (I should have said no.) She had me lay down but I had to tell her we had to adjust because post op you just aren't supposed to lay down like that, something she should have known working with patients like me all day. To remedy this, she ran out of the room and got some discarded blankets out of a dirty clothes bin, rumpled them up and stuffed them under my legs. We started at 20 minutes after because of all this running around prep and ended at 10 minutes till, so the 60 minute session was really only 30 minutes for $120.
I had watched videos of the Vodder method before hand, since that is what they supposedly use, and my masseuse seriously had no rhyme or reason to how she was touching me. She focused mainly on my stomach and just seemed very timid and confused. At one point she started digging through drawers and after a couple minutes pulled out a piece of metal and said she was going to try it on me. Again, no rhyme or reason to any of it. And no relief of any kind. At the end she had Teri come in, who I assume is maybe the owner, and they started cutting up the "compression foam" that you get as a gift, although I could have gotten the same thing from any craft store, and literally tried taping it together with different kinds of tape but none of them worked. It was like a weird art project fail and I just awkwardly stood there in my underwear. They then tightened my binder as tight as it would go and said I need to wear compression that way, despite my surgeon telling me otherwise.
The whole experience was shocking and I really shouldn't have paid for it, but it was one of those moments where you just want to get out of the situation as quickly as possible. My mom and sister had stayed in the waiting room and said that one of the women working there that came out and was working the desk seemed to be VERY sick, coughing and blowing her nose and such. Before I even knew that all I wanted to do was get home and take a shower because of how dirty everything felt. My swelling wasn't too bad at all before I went but was DEFINITELY worse the next day. The whole thing was just so bad. read more
