Lyft is convenient, but their customer service is absolutely horrible. I feel like you never know how much they're going to charge you. You're at the mercy of them charging you even if you have credits and they didn't apply them. They won't apply them retroactively regardless of the mistake happening on their end. Getting a hold of customer service is difficult. You have to jump the hurdle of the chat bot and a live agent is only available over chat. The live agents rarely resolve your issue. I've had to go through my bank several times for disputes. It's exhausting and makes me anxious when I consider ordering transportation from them again. read more

I've been a loyal Lyft rider but what happened on my last trip was unacceptable. After being picked up outside of a grocery store, we arrived at my destination. I told the driver I was going to retrieve my groceries and instead, he speeded off, with groceries still inside his car. I spent hours trying to contact him through the app. Finally I was able to get hold of a support agent and explained exactly what happened. I received my groceries around 11PM. Adding insult to injury, Lyft then charged me a $20 "lost item" fee - for my groceries that were not lost. The driver made off with them still in his car. Riders be aware, there is no phone support for situations like this. You can be charged fees even when it's the driver's fault. Very disappointed in their customer service. read more

Lyft is an outrageously bad company. When I lost my phone in one of their cars, they required me to call them from the lost phone to prove I was me. How is that possible? After two hours talking with rude corporate personnel, I finally received a call from my driver, who refused to talk with me, leading me to believe the driver stole the phone. With Apple's superb assistance, we tracked the phone for several days, and learned it was with the driver. Stay away from Lyft! When all connections are easy an there are no challenges, Lyft works fine BUT it has happened too many times as it did this morning that a driver did alert me to where he was. He had the wrong address and I had no way of correcting him. He then left although he arrived late and I got a $10 cancelation charge. I tried to dispute it, but I could not enter the complaint that the driver didn't show up. I've had it with this company. I'm tossing the app and going back to taking local taxis. On 12/8/22 around 3:30pm my car breaks down south bound I-95 outside New London CT. I get off the road and onto Rte 32 North looking for a gas station or convenience store to park. At set of lights car starts smoking and pull off the road on rte 32 North at 395 on ramp. Wife calls AAA for road service. The have deal with Lyft and if we use Lyft we receive $20 voucher. Never used Lyft before set up account and order ride. I se the drivers name and call to let him know exactly where I am. I identify myself, car, make and location and he hangs up on me. About 20 minutes later he calls me and I answer. Hangs up again. I call back and no answer. I tried another Lyft driver and as he was 5 minutes out and canceled. We called the Waterford CT PD and they took the 2 people in car that could not fit in tow truck. I found out later that I was charged $5.00 for canceling the first driver who never showed up. Lyft gave me a credit of $5.00 on my account for my next ride. I tried calling and chat service for Lyft without success. The email I received online states it is not a good email. With my first time experience when it was really needed was a total failure. I will not be using Lyft again and cannot get the $5.00 that was wrongly charged to me and Lyft states that in my account voucher back to me. I wonder if this is what they(Lyft) does to riders who have a bad experience or abused on their rides? Give them a voucher for that ride so they will come back. read more

Even though I booked the night before for today's ride , I still had no ride 45 minutes past my pick up time. I went with Uber and will never use Lyft again. Hello Lyft, I applied to drive around the 4th of July 2018. I was denied, due to a OUI which was not confirmed. I was pulled over and got arrested on December 4th 2012. I never got convicted and was given,"convicted without a finding", meaning that basically nothing happened except for the fact that the police officer was being an asshole. I've had a clean driving record my whole life (except for parking tickets because I work in town). I've never been pulled over for speeding or any other offenses. Lyft.. what can you say..... absolutely a fantastic idea. But .. (there is always a but)! BUT it's important to study the policies carefully and be real careful when booking. Pay special attention to the cancellation policy, especially the no show policy. I will try to simplify what happened to us. We were testing the advanced scheduling system for a friend that needed to schedule a 4:00 am ride to airport from a rural location. Without realizing it, we inadvertently booked a pickup at 4 am and 430 am. Lyft does NOT confirm reservations via email, ( like most establishments). The only notification is a very small calendar icon that pops up in the upper right hand corner of the screen once a future ride is scheduled. We did NOT notice it when we pushed the wrong button... the next morning upon waking around 6 am I was greeted with (2) messages from Lyft indicating (2) drivers had come to my home at 4 and 430 am and I was charged $10 for each no-show. I tried to contest the charges via their " customer service" link. The responses were "canned" responses and I could not get anyone to call me. We found (after) spending a lot of time, that their terms and conditions specify , NO REFUNDS ever regardless of the situation.. they will only give a credit with a short time to use before it expires. They only call customers when there is an emergency situation and will email responses that refer customers to the terms and conditions . Very frustrating to try and negotiate their customer service system with no success. The future scheduling process is a bit archaic and confusing.. all we were doing was trying to learn the system for "future ride reservations", and by pushing the wrong button, with NO email confirmations we feel manipulated. And out $20.00 bucks.. like I wrote in the beginning, if you need a ride and you book it and go outside and get in a car right away Lyft is great, (there are pitfalls with that too), but if you fool around with their advanced scheduling system without studying before your fingers push buttons, watch out! They seem to have fine tuned all the angles in their financial favor.. I don't know how many stars to give this review.. I'm gonna give them 3 (because the rides can be great), BUT their policies are cruel and manipulative. I attempted to use the left device and it was an epic fail!! First off they couldn't recognize my address. I live on a main ave in providence that is on there map, but their system still wouldn't recognize it. Realizing this I stopped trying and went over to the competition and was on my way in minutes. The day after this I checked my account and saw that they had charged $25 pending fee. They say that it will be returned but not for seven days!!! I could see if there was a transaction that was pending but I never used the service and never requested a ride!! When I tried to get in touch I was told to email them. I am from Warwick, RI. I had to go to logan Airport. I booked my Lyft ride the day prior at 4pm for a 3am Lyft. My driver came was there at 3:10am. I dont believe he knew we were going to logan and I think he thought he was taking me to TF Green which is only .5mi away. He barely spoke English as I tried to explain to him we were going to Boston. While on 95 in providence he was serving and could stay in his lane. His speed was 40 to 80 mph. Very inconsistant. He even went over the bumps in the road that wake you up. When we hit attleboro he pulled over on 95 in the break down lane. He was trying to tell me that he was sleepy and had to splash water on his face. I was scared... I didnt know what to do at this point as it was 330am and I needed to get to the airport. He got back in the car and continued to drive very tired. I could hold a conversation with him because he couldn't understand me. I just kept yelling at him in the car. I felt bad as I dont think he was a bad person but he definitely put us both in an unsafe situation. I told Lyft about my experience and their comment to me was that they were sorry and that they hope i ride with them again and gave me a 2 week window to take 10% off my next trip. Everytime I use Lyft they pick me up in less than 15 minutes. Sometimes they have trouble finding my location. But a quick phone call to the driver usually helps with that. I've had some great drivers too. Most of them are very friendly and have candy and water for me. I'll never take a cab again. No more paying for parking downtown or worrying about having one too many and driving home. I just press the button on the app on my phone and someone picks me up. I love it! read more
