As a full time driver for Lyft this virus has caused a difficult time for me. I haven't worked since March 17th. I tried filling out my taxes last week and thru the Lyft app they promise me free filing for state and federal. I file my taxes thru the app but this is not applied and am being charged for both I emailed them the first night and they replied within minutes with a useless reply so when I answered back I'm further detail I have received no response. I have emailed them 5 days in a row since it's impossible to find a phone number it's really terrible customer service to me. They rape drivers on the pay and don't care for them in times of crisis. They charged me $5 cancellation fee when I waited right outside of the pickup location that I requested - it was an easy find address too (128 N 10th) and the driver went to the wrong address and he dared to charge me $5 made it as if it was my fault for not showing up. What made me even pissed off was that the first time I requested a ride, it was around $8 and the second time I requested, it was $11. They were only less than 5 minutes apart. Totally ridiculous. Uber is much better. Lyft is unresponsive. It seems like they don't care or are overwhelmed and understaffed. Also, they have untrained drivers. I got a ride for my girlfriend that should have been 1 mile across town. Instead the driver went across the Ben Franklin into NJ. Then he went down to the Walt Whitman, came back across and drove up 95! A $5 trip totaled over $100 with tolls. Maybe an honest mistake, but my girlfriend was traumatized. Like many things in life, ridesharing is great in concept, but not always in execution. Fortunately, my experiences with Lyft have generally been positive, with a few bad apples thrown in here and there. Lyft is the most convenient transportation choice for me based on where I live, but more and more I'm finding myself directing drivers...even when I'm not even sure of the best route myself offhand. This seems to have something to do with their GPS' signal. Still, the cost is so low compared to taxis that it's okay. I also love having the ability to tip right on the app. It's much more convenient than fishing through my wallet and hoping I have a few bucks. Not to mention, Lyft doesn't seem to surge as often as Uber. Usually I'm able to score a ride within minutes. Lyft Support needs some enhancements, however. One time last fall, a driver called me three times as she desperately tried to find me at a very normal spot in Center City. She didn't have a GPS at all, and she wasn't from the city. When she finally pulled up 20 minutes later, I was instantly charged for a 20-minute ride. I informed her; she didn't apologize. I then spent days trying to get in touch with a rep from Lyft to resolve the inaccurate charge. Finally, their team claimed to credit my account for the ride amount, but I never actually saw it fixed on my credit card statement -- nor was it applied to my next ride. Ah, well. Despite some issues like that, Lyft has been a helpful asset since the service came to Philly about a year ago. It'd be great if they could remedy some frequent problems (like the GPS issues). RIDER BEWARE We had a Lyft driver pick up a friend and when she entered the vehicle the driver was not wearing a mask and was drinking from a bottle. He told the passenger that he was not drinking alcohol and that it was water that he had poured into the bottle. A very odd remark to make. However, the liquid was red in color. The passenger was wearing a mask the entire ride. After the passenger was dropped off at our home, we received an email with an $80.00 receipt of damage with attached photos of the drink having been split on a car seat. The driver fraudulently claimed that the passenger was responsible for this. The hand in the picture appeared to be that of a Caucasian individual. The passenger was black. We contacted Lyft, which was nearly impossible, and they said that the incident was investigated and that we would not be refunded the money that was fraudulently charged to us. The passenger was never questioned as a part of their investigation. We were literally accused and charged for something that the passenger had absolutely nothing to do with. We believe the driver was under the influence of alcohol and targeted and then scammed his passenger. read more

I'm in Delaware and I've been blacklisted from Lyft for absolutely no reason for the last 2 months, I was using them regularly when suddenly I was blocked. I've emailed them countless times and never got a response or an explanation for why I was blacklisted, I didn't have any issues with any drivers and always wore a mask when in the vehicle. Terrible. Ordered a lyft for the first time. They had me waiting a block from my house for a half an hour in the cold then didn't show. When they were late, they led me on to believe that the ride was coming and I only needed to wait 20 minutes longer...still no show. When they finally cancelled, they sent a message stating that no one was around to pick me up. Now they have my name and credit card information as well as a position on my phone with no service provided. And of course there's no one to communicate with as to what went wrong. No idea why there are so many old, negative reviews of Lyft as they have definitely improved over the years. I flip between both Lyft and Uber when I need a ride, and in general, Uber has way more surge pricing than I'm comfortable with. I get the added bonus of getting Delta Airline miles when I use Lyft, so it's kinda like double dipping. I have had a few drivers that felt like they took advantage of me price-wise but it happens very rarely so it's still pretty worth it to me. Also, I like that I get time to pay after the ride is over so I can move money around in my bank accounts. I can't say Lyft is perfect, but in a pinch when I don't have other means, it's definitely my way to go. read more

Their customer service is unresponsive and infuriating. I am deleting my Lyft app and using Uber, at least when you submit an issue to Uber they respond within the hour. It's been over a day since I left my phone in a Lyft and no response, twitter and facebook pages are unhelpful too. I have been a Lyft customer since 2019. Prior to the pandemic, I've had ar least 2 horrible driver experiences but generally the drivers have been courteous and often beyond expected in helpfulness for a senior with bags. Things have since gone downhill with drivers who do not ask if their radio volume is too loud (most often it is), who do not drive so as not to shake up their passengers or otherwise are not professional, courteous and good drivers. The fares vary with different times of the day. I have also had issues with the app (keyboard was sliding up and down for almost a year thwarting my efforts to give driver instructions for pick-up and I was unable to contact Lyft for assistance. It finally stopped last month. Currently, the app is changing the address of a pick-up and drop off destination I use frequently and there is no way for me to correct it. It is necessary for me to contact the driver and give the correct address before they cancel the ride. The most frustrating aspect of using Lyft however is the customer's inability to contact them. There is no customer service number, no email, no number for texting. Unless there is an emergency (accident, etc.) and your issue does not fit into one of the "boxes" provided, you are shut out of communicating with Lyft. There is also no corporate office address on their website for Philadelphia. I have written to the California office and received no response. As a former customer service supervisor this is extremely disappointing for a company the size of Lyft. It signals their lack of value for customers and our input. Drivers tell me it is difficult but they now have limited access to Lyft with the Philadelphia Hub. I no longer recommend them. read more

Also wanted to be able to tip the drivers.That said, Uber customer service and drivers were excellent. My Lyft rides here were fast, good drivers. From other reviews, it seems like they may have a bug with one of their incentive codes, and could use a face Lyft (I know you see what I did there!). However, being someone who has used various app-based transpo options, in NYC, Philly, and throughout the country, for my own and others personal and business needs, I'm currently the biggest fan of Lyft, as were many of the impossible to please Wall Street execs for whom I've worked. Except for Via in NYC, I don't think any of them have a grand customer service system. When you're talking price for value, Lyft wins hands down, both for share and solo rides. I've taken the exact same ride in Philly at the exact same time of day with the exact same level of traffic through both Uber and Lyft. Lyft was noticeably more affordable. Their app is the best of them. Easiest time setting it up, and I always see far more Lyft than Uber options when I'm toggling between the two in most areas. read more

I am upset because I set my drop off location as the Wells Fargo Center and for some reason it had changed it to the Wells Fargo Bank which we didn't notice until we got dropped off, which means we got charged for a ride we didn't want or request, moreover this made my wife and I late for the Laker game. We tried to request a new pick up from the Wells Fargo Bank to the Wells Fargo Center and it just kept resetting it as the bank. I'm highly frustrated at this situation. I had a promo code to attach to my application and couldnt add it no matter how many times I tried to get back to the first screen - your site wouldnt let me. I contacted your "support" team and they emailed me saying that I was no longer eligible because I submitted my application (ya know, the application I submitted 5 MINUTES PRIOR to emailing them). They then proceeded to tell me that if I want to refer friends in the future, that the code would work for them (thats hilarious). Way to start a good supportive relationship with your applicants (sarcasm - in case youre not hearing me loud and clear). I can't imagine that your drivers are getting any good support if this is how it STARTS. Also I'm seeing customers here are getting beat up by your customer service -- this is definitely going to make me only use uber in the future now that I have first hand experience with your horrible support team. This morning I used Lyft from Logan Airport to my apartment. 10 minutes after getting out of the black Toyota Rav4 (driven by a man named Ben) I realized I had left my phone behind. My friend got ahold of him and he refused to return it to me. My red iPhone XR has since been in "lost" mode, bouncing all over the Boston area. When Lyft first came to Philly, it was awesome. The drivers were super nice, the prices were great (rarely inflated even during peak hours), and they were basically a better version of uberx. Not so much anymore. Don't get me wrong, I'd still rather take a lyft over a cab, mostly due to price & convenience of payment/hailing, but the gap has closed dramatically. The biggest downside? Cabs in Philly may drive aggressively but I never worry about if they know where they're going or what path they take. Most lyft (& uberx) drivers have no idea how to get around Philly. They rely on google maps or waze, which often gets you stuck in traffic or fails completely if there's a new detour. Some things lyft/uberx/cabs have in common? Some drivers talk/text on their phones while they drive; some cars stink; some aggressive/poor driving, all that fun stuff. Extra star to lyft though because they pick up from PHL & they don't inflate their rates nearly as much as uberx does during peak hours. What was originally an innovative alternative to cabs is looking more and more like what it was trying to disrupt. Lyft has some great ideas, but execution & quality are spotty. I still prefer it over uber & cabs, but less so with each ride. read more

Worst company to deal with. A lyft driver hit my car and I had to go through lyfts insurance to make my claim. This happened in March and I am still being passed around their insurance agents. My car was deemed totaled two weeks ago and their agent never answered my calls. Finally, a week after it was deemed totaled, I was emailed the number to an adjuster who still hasn't replied to me. Would love to give 5 stars because the vast majority of the drivers are really good. They are polite and helpful, especially to this senior citizen walking with a cane. I like being notified of the approximate arrival time and location of the car. Seeing the picture of the driver and the car is a plus. Cleanliness is generally good. Here are the cons: Way to expensive! A ride of less than a mile is up to about $8 plus tip! When regular medical appointments are involved, my transportation can be up to $25 in one day. YIKES! I remember when the rates were more competitive, often lower than Uber. I guess we're stuck while being dependent upon companies with a monopoly. read more

I don't usually write reviews. But I felt I needed to write one for how Lyft conducts their service. I had to get to work and ended up getting in the car with someone who showed up in the wrong car and said it was okay and then said "my car smash" (he spoke no English which I don't have a problem with) assuming he meant Lyft OK this in his car was in an accident so he had a different car. Once we got on the highway his car started making noise and I told him to keep going he thought that I told him he could stop and he pulled over on the side of the highway two times to hit front his bumper back into place because it was falling off. He was going way under the speed limit which was already putting us in a bad position on the high way constantly changing lanes when he thought his bumper was coming off again and missed my exit from not paying attention to the GPS. When he realize he was missing the exit he threw the car in the middle of the merged highways hoping to correct himself I told him to stop and to just exit since he already missed it. Then I noticed on his keychain he had a knife which wasn't enough for lift to be concerned about either when it came to my safety. I was insulted when Lyft would not give me a refund and instead offered me five dollar credit for the inconvenience like if this man showed up late to my house. Now this person who has probably lost their job (which is not my problem) knows where I live and where I work. Lyft is mad because I demanded a refund well I am mad that they take my safety so lightly. I have a membership with them that I have now canceled and I will be taking Uber from here on out. Lyft was my way to get around and I was more than happy to pay for all of the rides that I have taken. But the one time I ask for a refund for a ride that made me feel unsafe and scared for my life they choose to lose a customer over $22 dollars when they were already offering $5 off of that.
