Tivoli Night Market was nice, except it smelled like a cheap smoke shop so we didn't stick around to listen to the music.

I HIGHLY SUGGEST going general admission for this one. Also as a side note don't purchase your tickets in advance like I did. It is better to pay a few dollars more and decide you don't want to walk around a festival in 100F heat. I went VIP and now am sorry I did. First of all this is the most unorganized food festival that I have ever been too. We had to stand in line to get wrist bands. Then as soon as we got wrist band we had to stand in another line to wait to get in. Then we had to stand in yet ANOTHER line to get our VIP food tickets. Also on the way to stand in the Food Ticket line there were countless trip hazards. (the most I have ever seen anywhere!) THE PROBLEM WITH VIP IS THAT IT LIMITS YOU TO ONLY CERTAIN VENDERS. YOU ALSO NEED A CELL PHONE to bring up a map of the event and it also lets you know what VIP Venders that you can try. You also need to GRAB A SEAT FAST because covered seating is very limited and fills up FAST. Then I hope you are OK with LOUD Music. The music they play is uncomfortably LOUD. Another problem with VIP is that YOU DON'T GET YOUR MONEYS WORTH. After three plates I was full and didn't want anymore food. We just wanted to leave. That said and ANYWAYS - The food I tried was good. I wish plates were smaller so I could have stomach room to try more things. I think what I enjoyed most was that my husband figured out the locations of certain food trucks and brought back the foods to our seats. I also enjoyed watching a young man (like 15 or 16 years old) air drumming and be-bopping to an extended version of Rod Steward's Do You Think I'm Sexy. I wonder if he knew that was a fifty year old song? Then Abba's Dancing Queen filled the air and he went cold. That was entertaining. Got lucky and had a close parking spot. Good Luck!

We came at a good time, because the sun was setting, and so it was going to get dark quick. Not many people were there, which was great. We got to enjoy the lanterns, and take our photos/videos. Very creative with these lanterns, and we really enjoyed it. Especially, Chinese New Year was coming, they had a section with all the zodiac lanterns. What was cool was that, they had a performance there, that we were in time for. Very talented. I put 4 stars, because I'm really disappointed about the food selections., So I ended up just buying peppermint hot chocolate. My husband liked his food order though. Definitely something to check out with the family/friends. Get the Groupon, because I forgot to. LOL

We drive by (I live in the area) a lot and I happened to see the big dragon at the entrance one day so I decided to look up what was happening at Cowabunga Bay. While it isn't something I would normally go to (I'm more of a Christmas pop-up bar kind of girl), we decided to check it out as our flight to a snowy wonderland got cancelled, due to snow. LOL! I'm glad Laura C. posted a great review because I did what she said and got the Groupon. This makes it just $20 a person, which is absolutely worth it. These lanterns are hand made! The artistry alone is worth the entrance fee. My boyfriend and I could not stop talking about how WORTH IT it was to experience this. The lanterns are gorgeous and yes, you could be done in 15 minutes but if you take your time and actually enjoy what they are you can spend longer here. We ended up staying for about an hour and making two rounds. We actually saw stuff the second round that we didn't notice the first time. The area that serves the boozy drinks was a bit small and there was only one fire pit but we got to sit under a heat lamp so I wasn't too cold. The drinks are a bit overpriced but they are good and come with a souvenir mug. The Boozy cinnamon toast crunch is sweet but really, really good. There are more food options at the park than on the website but we didn't end up eating anything. From what we saw others eating, it didn't look bad. If you're into entertainment, check the calendar. They do have performances and stuff like that, you just have to go on a day that has them. It's pretty clear on the website.

There was also a row of local vendor booths that offered goods for sale, as well as informational booths. Most of the food trucks offered reasonable and affordable prices, but a handful of them had absolutely crazy prices. One food truck was serving pasta and wanted an astounding $22-$23 for one bowl of pasta, we quickly skipped past that booth along with everyone else who saw their incredibly high prices. There was a stage with live music, and the band was absolutely fantastic. But that wasn't the only entertainment this event had to offer... Surprisingly, they even had live wrestling... it was very entertaining. My 11yo son sat with his mouth opened the whole show... he didn't know what to think. But we all highly enjoyed it. On the other side of the event area, there was a carnival with rides, games, and a fun house. It was a lot of fun watching the riders laughing and screaming their heads off on the thrill rides. Everyone we came across was friendly, helpful, and just seemed happy to be there. We brought our puppy with us, and he had a great time too. He even made himself a few new puppy friends. I highly recommend this event. We will definitely come back again next year.

I'm terrible about events and happenings though so there's that... We usually travel somewhere during the holidays but I've used up all my PTO so we are doing exclusively local things. While looking up new and fun things, I saw that there was a tree lighting and drone show one day and a holiday light parade the next. Intriguing! We thought it would be more crowded, so we parked in the lot by Lovelady Brewing Company and walked to City Hall. We didn't need to do this, we could have parked closer but it was a nice night and I need the exercise. To be perfectly honest, there isn't much to do while waiting for the tree lighting. There were tables and chairs set out (so get there early if you want one of those), a few booths that weren't all that interesting (sorry), one food truck that just did desserts like funnel cake and fried Oreos, one drink wagon that only had beer and wine and a small carousel for kids. I really wanted a hot chocolate so that was a bit dissapointing. I think the coffee shops in the area stayed open late though because I saw a lot of people coming down the street with cups. The entertainment was cute, with a high school choir singing Christmas songs. The tree lighting was cute and the drone show was pretty cool. Oh, and it's only $5 to register in advance online, and you can pay at the door. Kids under 12 are free! This event blew our minds! We had the most unbelievable time EVER!!! Everyone was in such and incredible mood, moving freely to the amazing dj's and dancing along with the traditional Indian dancers who were giving instructions. It was one of the best festivals I've ever attended and this hippie mama has been to her fair share. There was yoga and bounce houses for the kiddos, trees to picnic under, free hugs and smiles given generously. It was just an all around amazing, positive time and vibrations of love were super high. The festival take place every year in the spring in the wide open park not far from the airport in Vegas. Just a heads up, there's a 7-11 right across the street to the entrance if you forget anything, like tons of water you'll need! The park is well maintained and really nice itself. Ducks in a beautiful fountain, picnic areas and ample free parking. No need to bring food, the festival has a bunch of vegan food trucks and they're pretty delish! Come dressed in white and expect to pull color from places you thought you've never have to. Even those who didn't want color got some, so really don't come if you're not willing to participate. Make sure you cover your expensive cameras and phones too. Shaking off the excess color before leaving the grounds certainly helps. Color packets are sold at the event so no need to worry about finding them. They're $3 per bag or four bags of assorted colors pre packed for $10 which is definitely the way to go. Bring cash! Outside colors are actually not allowed in as the color used here are all organic made from corn starch, permissible food grade dyes, & fragrance only. They are environmentally friendly, beautiful vibrant colors, and nicely scented too! There are "color throws" every hour on the hour starting at noon. In between there's a ton to keep you occupied. We actually stayed ALL day and everyone was having so much fun they extended the festival by an hour or so. We were very lucky to find that this festival coincided with our trip to this region, but let me tell you, I would not hesitate to go out of my way to attend again! It was an insanely unreal time!! Not sure who had more fun, the kids or me!

It also means no lines and no real entrances, you can enter/exit any where, and if you want bring in your own food, drinks, fold up chairs, basically anything you wanted. That's awesome. I always try to make it out to these less main stream festivals. That's what I'm more use to being from a "country" style island. I think this is probably one of the more enjoyable and family friendly ones. They have hula dancing and various artist and entertainers from across the valley. It's more of what represents the Pacific Islands community here. Yes you can probably buy food at the actual vendors' restaurants but if you came here you can hang out, chillax, and converse with random people just wanting a good time. Pure Aloha is good but crowded, entry fee, at a casino, in a parking lot, jammed with unnecessary vendors selling the same stuff, and I did't care for the fair rides and games. Also seeing that after the last Pure Aloha event a few weeks ago there was a bunch of fights. Yea not the best thing. So back to the Ho'olaule'a Pacific Island Festival. I will definitely be back to support this festival. Keep up the awesome work and thanks for the 20+ years. That's go for 30.

You are relegated to a spectator even if you know you're true parade material, and this is why I love the Halloween Parade! All you need is a costume, and you too can be IN the parade. You can even win a prize in one of the multiple costume categories. The parade attracts all types from Burning Man veterans to curious tourists to sweet transvestites to families... yes, all types are welcome and all types march proudly! If you're an overachiever, you can create an art car or a float, but it's not necessary. (Although that is on my bucket list: to have an art car or float in the Halloween Parade!) Of course, if you prefer spectating, that's an option too. There is plenty to look at. This year one of my favorites was an illuminated fishing boat and hooked fish. The fish was built around a scooter, and the scooter was pulling a little trailer with a boat. Ingenious cuteness at its best! Every year on Halloween it happens whether it's a Monday or a Saturday, so you never have an excuse to stay at home or be without a costume! It's true local flavor at its best.

All the bars around the area were packed, and most people were in costumes. Very fun night that can me completely FREE if you so chose to. There are food trucks and stands around that you can get food at if you're hungry, and they even had bars set up around the area and most I saw had little to no line.
