The food was excellent! The service was attentive but needed to be more accessible to the guests with their orders, and serving water. We wanted to sit in the lobby, but there was trash at the fireplace. The lobby was unclean ie the couch, table, fireplace area. There was no coffee or cream in our room. It took 40 minutes for them to come up. They brought cream and sugar and no coffee. We called the front desk twice to rectify this issue. There was a phone in the room that did not work and no phone cord, which is a huge safety issue. There was yelling and slamming doors at 6am outside of our room in the hallway. There was also no body soap in the shower, when we showered this morning. We will not be returning, as this was another disappointing stay.

Since then, we've worked with Michael on planning our wedding and he was so great to work with. He was easy to communicate with, super energetic and full of positive energy throughout the planning, and very informative. We wanted our dogs in the ceremony a lower guest minimum for fear that less people at the time would attend due to covid and Michael quickly accommodated our requests, no questions asked! Our wedding was 10/14/23 and Farrell was our maitre'd. After getting home, my matron of honor, brother in law and mom had nothing but AMAZING things to say about Farrell. According to my mom, Farrell saw my grandpa had trouble with his boutonniere and she, without us asking, started helping him and all the other groomsmen clip them on. She worked with my husband on getting a little last-minute seating mishap resolved (we had some unplanned guests who had initially rsvp'd no and showed up). She was so good with children as our flower girl and flower boy/ring bearer were 4 and 7 and she interacted with them and helped show them what to do at the ceremony. Our day of coordinator unfortunately had an emergency and was not there part of the wedding but Farrell really took over and checked in on us constantly and took charge of the day. My matron of honor said Farrell was so nice and reliable and amazing at her job. Going back to the wedding, our guests couldn't stop talking about how gorgeous the venue was, down to the chandeliers in the ballroom. Our wedding was unfortunately outdoors but Birchwood was so accommodating with allowing us to use the Grand Ballroom for the ceremony as the reception was already set up elsewhere. We upgraded the cocktail hour to deluxe and with both my husband and I being from Chinese families with high expectations in regards to seafood, the lobster tails were gone instantly as our guests loved them so much. People raved about how good the cocktail hour was, including the carving station and shrimp scampi station. The ice sculpture was a beautiful and elegant touch. All in all, we and our guests had nothing but an amazing time at Birchwood. We have nothing but positive experiences through our 2 years of wedding planning. It was very comfortable sitting at the large round table. I noticed the Meadow Wood Manor made accommodations for a man in a wheelchair who sat directly across from our table. He was wheeled right up to the table and the chair was removed, it was easy peasy. The staff was truly wonderful. We had not one but two waiters. Our drink order was immediately taken. I was asked if I ever ate there before. Our waiter explained to our table about the buffet. I got up and walked down the hall to another very large room where all the food was strategically placed. They even had the kids food placed lower so they could reach it with supervision. The first thing I saw was the breakfast items. There was an OMELETTE STATION-Omelettes made to order with toppings. The "champagne" that's provided throughout the night is only 5%, but I've had several other mixed drinks throughout the night and never once felt any sort of buzz. Upon reflection, the amount I drank I should've really been at minimum very tipsy. My husband felt the same. No one at the party seemed visibility drunk and yet everyone had a drink in their hand most of the night. Not that we go to weddings to get hammered, but the family is paying for open bar and this would mean they're getting ripped off, yes? I was here for a training class that involved the use of several automobiles. The main hanger is large enough to accommodate many many more than were actually in use. I can see how this might be a good spot for beer or wine events, or even craft or other vendor driven gatherings. I even liked seeing the military displays and notices. Our class was not large and unfortunately this large space needed even larger heating units to warm it up, noisy ones at that. It was a balancing act to run them just enough to keep from being chilly but still be able to hear the speakers. My biggest criticism would be the men's bathroom conditions. As the other reviewer noted, they are not suitable for large crowds without additional port a potties. Since our crowd was not large this was not an issue, but cleanliness certainly was. For some reason all of the urinals were removed. No matter, plenty of stalls. But these were in desperate need of a power washing, or better yet maybe a sandblasting. This may be the first time I've used this word in a review, but the condition was deplorable. Now that I think about it, maybe this space is not used in its former military purpose. I sure hope not, our troops deserve better, even if only part time.

We were greeted by a friendly staff who worked very hard all evening, from management to servers, to make the food service smooth and flawless The appetizers were fresh and delicious: all Italian and Mediterranean food, top quality salami and other meats, cheeses, olives, artichokes, etc. The entrees were delicious, penne vodka, cavatelli broccoli, eggplant, thinly sliced beef, salmon, etc The rooms look updated and are nicely kept: beautiful paint, wainscoting, vaulted ceilings, soft lighting all create an inviting, warm and classical environment.
