She created a bespoke lash especially for my big day. It was perfect! When I was looking for a lash artist, I did what most people do by looking into this platform, google, busn. website and social media. There's nothing like visuals, testimonies and updates in real time on social media. From her posts, I saw how she achieved the perfect look for every customer's preference and occasion. I had to book quickly. Once I met her, she wasn't just a last artist passionate about her craft, but an expert, a teacher/trainer and a person who deeply cares for others. She's a rare soul. With her Cali move posted everywhere on her socials, she had a transition plan by referring her trusted lash artists. Oh! And who can say "I have an expert lash artists who cares for her clients, will cook your favorite noodle soup and make you the best coffee!" I do! Kelly, Seattle is going to miss you and Cali is so fortunate to have your expertise.

I booked a new-client appointment with Kelly after finding her on Yelp and reading the positive…read morereviews. On July 29, I was excited to find an opening for July 31. I had recently moved and was looking for a new lash artist I could see consistently and build a long-term professional relationship with. Before booking, I reviewed Kelly's website, Yelp page, and booking requirements. I understood that she had a strict cancellation policy requiring the full appointment price, and I provided my credit card information to secure the appointment. I booked a new-client lash fill, brow wax, and brow tint. On the day of the appointment, my car repair was taking longer than expected, so I texted Kelly to give her a heads-up. She initially said she could be flexible by up to an hour, which I appreciated, while also reminding me of her cancellation policy. As we continued texting, Kelly informed me that she would need to remove all of my existing lashes, even though they were only about a week old. This was not clearly listed as a requirement on her website or booking platform. There was an optional add-on to remove lashes from another artist, but nothing stating that a full removal was mandatory. Although I was frustrated, I was willing to accept that. What ultimately changed the situation was learning that July 31 was Kelly's final day working in Seattle because she was moving to California. This was not disclosed on her website or booking platform. She told me she had announced it on Instagram, but I do not believe a new customer should be expected to search through every social-media account for such important information before booking. People who receive lash extensions are generally looking for an ongoing artist, not someone who will remove their current lashes, perform one service, charge a new-client rate, and then immediately leave the state. Had I known she was relocating, I never would have booked the appointment. I asked Kelly whether she would consider splitting the cancellation charge because this significant information had not been disclosed. She could have charged me for the lash service but waive the brow wax and tint--anything that demonstrated some accountability or willingness to meet me halfway as I understand the value of her time. She refused. I never disputed that I had agreed to her cancellation policy. My concern was that a material fact about her business--her final day in Seattle--was not disclosed during the booking process. Kelly could also clearly see that a brand-new client had booked an appointment on her final day and could have contacted me so I could make an informed decision. Unfortunately, I felt that there was no effort to acknowledge the situation, provide reasonable customer service, or take any responsibility for the lack of transparency. My experience was disappointing, and I feel like taking my money was more important to her than ensuring a prospective customer was taken care of.

There are 3 beds there for people to work on. The entire appointment took an hour. I told her that I was sensitive to glue, and she said she did have an alternative, but it doesn't adhere as much as the normal glue. I was disappointed to hear that, cause I wanted these lashes to last till when I go to Hawaii in the next week. She offered to mix the two glues, which I said OK to. As I was choosing lash lengths, she said the 3rd/4th longest was probably best, as my lashes aren't that long and can't withstand the weight of the longer ones. I told her okay, but in hindsight, I wanted the longer ones cause I like longer, more voluminous lashes. Also, the reason why my current real lashes are short is cause they're still growing back from my previous eyelash extensions, which are on the longer end. It's been 4 days since i got these done, and one eyelash clump (since theres like 5 lashes per adhesive) has come out, and I head out to Hawaii tomorrow morning! I hope they last!! PS. They do price match Groupon prices, so you don't have to purchase from there, but I use Ebates and Groupon 25% promo codes, so one full set of volume 4D lashes costed about $70. :)
