I was at this salon once, but I do plan on going back. The staff was friendly and definitely not stuck up like some other salons on S.I. ...First time I have been in a salon that offered me a glass of Sangria on the night before Thanksgiving. I went there to have my hair washed and straightened to look nice for the holiday. The hairdresser Danielle is awesome and very accommodating with giving tips on the best ways to style my hair and tips on how to take care of curly hair. Luxe was very clean, not expensive, I will definitely go there again! The parking lot was hard to get into because it is in the back and is shared with Arirang, but when I went to the back the restaurant's valet was blocking the lot entrance with cars so I had to park on Amboy road in front. I am sure parking would have been better but that was the Arirang's fault! Luckily, there was a spot infront of the salon and it was later in the evening so, I didnt have to pay the meters. read more

I found Danielle ,who is in the 1st chair, to be rude. I used a groupon and she treated me as if I was a 2nd class citizen. If the establishment frowns upon a groupon that they put out...then they shouldn't put them out. I happened to be new to the neighborhood and was checking Luxe as a possible new salon for me. If I could give this place zero stars, I would have. The stylists and staff are wonderful but the owner is the worst I have ever met. She refuses to accept discounts from websites she advertises on. When told she would be losing a customer because her customer service is TERRIBLE, I was told "that's fine". She doesn't have many customers to begin with, you would think she would want to keep the ones she has. Came here with Groupons on 2 separate occasions. The first was for a Swedish massage, which was good, but not the most relaxing experience when you can hear the blow dryers and music blasting through the wall. The second was for one of the worst haircuts I've gotten in a while; the stylist (who very well may have been a newbie) chopped my bangs so much that they looked hideous for weeks. I went here for a blow dry on 3 separate occasions and I have to admit folks who work there aren't the nicest. They talk behind your back and give you attitude. If they expect new customers to come back they have to be nice, otherwise stop selling the groupon deals. read more

I was at this salon for a massage I purchased off of Groupon and found it to be disappointing. I could not relax, knowing I was in a salon and not in a separate area. The room is just a closed room off the corridor, near all the other salon stations. The staff was nice, but the salon was nothing to brag about. I guess you get what you pay for. read more

I have been to this establishment twice. First for a Mani/Pedi and then for a full body massage. This is primarily a hair salon and from what I see they do an excellent job on hair care. The owner is so nice and welcoming I felt at ease the moment I arrived. I was sent an email the day before reminding me of my appointment. I had chosen the Deluxe Mani/Pedi and was a bit disappointed that it did not include a paraffin treatment. I did get a leg scrub and massage though. I should have asked what was included. Big comfortable chairs and whirlpool. The lady did an excellent job on my hands and feet. They have a Mani/Pedi special on Wednesday 25.00. I will take advantage of the offer. My next visit was for a full massage I was taken to a rear room lots of candlelight and soothing music. The masseur was very nice asking me if I had any trouble spots that needed special attention. I was allowed to undress in privacy and got on the table under the sheets. She was very attentive to my back and legs I started to dose off! My arms and shoulders were next I was melting away! My shoulders neck and face completed the treatment. at first I thought she was being too lite. I was wrong she was gentle but effective. When I got home I sat on my sofa and went into a deep sleep when I woke up it was1230am. Now that is relaxing! The place is very clean and professional and there is parking in the rear. I LOVE the massages at this place. I bought two amazon coupons there and then bought an amazon for 3 more. The nmassage girls there are amazing. When I first saw it was a salon I thought it would be just an average swedish massage but it was a proffessional massage, I have a bad nexk and she fixes me every time. Yes, you can hear the noise slightly from the salon area, blow dryers ect, but it's not loud at all. Once I use my las tAmazon coupon I will definitely pay full amount for a massage there. read more

Please note--this is a new Luxe spa, located in the Hilton Garden Hotel in S.I. My daughter had given me a gift certificate for a massage, which I used yesterday; I am STILL very relaxed! Colleen was my massage therapist & was wonderful. She is very experienced and gentle. This is a brand-new spa (previously the Grotto). The rooms are beautifully furnished, wonderful/relaxing music/atmosphere. This was a wonderful gift and I hope to return again soon. read more

Very Disappointing. I purchased 2 gift mani/pedi vouchors. They were $25 each with a "value of $75." From the gallery photos, we assumed this is not just a nail salon, and did expect a more professional experience, without what seemed like bickering and underbreath comments from the other staff. For $75 I would expect 2 technicians to work on a person so that client doesn't have to waste so much time, and the manicurist not be tired doing both hands & feet in one sitting. My daughter said that although the work was done nicely it was not what she asked for. The manicurist was willing to re-do the entire procedure, but that would have taken much more time. This was not even worth a $25 mani/pedi nevermind a $75 one. I wish I could get a refund on the other vouchor I bought so my other Mother's Day gift recipient doesn't have to go thru this. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I gave it one star it should be ZERO. I had a HORRIBLE experience here. They hate Groupon and resent people using them. I came in and had attitude RIGHT away. It was THE WORST experience of my hair cutting life and actually felt that i was being harassed. They washed my hair and left me SOAKING wet for 15 minutes dripping all over myself--ignoring me. The woman, Danielle was extremely abrasive. She was like screaming at me when I wasn't quick enough to answer which way I part my hair. When I asked to get it curled she gave me another attitude saying it was 10 dollars as if I couldn't afford an extra ten dollars. She's a complete psycho and was like eying me like I was the devil. I was SO uncomfortable I wanted to just get up and walk out in the middle of the cut. On top of EVERYTHING i asked for a tiny hair cut. I think she cut off about 6 inches just to spite me. She didn't say one word to me when she was cutting my hair despite my sunny mood while coming in. I was shaking with fear--thinking this woman was going to stab me with the scissors. I never usually go out of my way to write a review, but feel its Neccessary to let others know. Do not go to this salon they are so money hungry and will rip you off! Last time I went in and had a trim and half head highlights they charged me $200! The owner (which by the way isn't even a stylist) even said to me "I know the prices are high that's why I never use to get my hair done" who does a business like this? Terrible! I went in there with a Groupon for ombre and haircut. The girl who washed my hair was very polite but that's where it ends. My hair was absolutely ugly. My hair was orange when I wanted a light brown. She said, "It was the light" that made it look orange...I think not! When I went to leave... I'd like to give this place 1 star because of my horrible gel manicure but I found the other staff friendly and saw some nice haircuts, dyes and blow outs while I was there. I had purchased a $25 gel manicure and pedicure on groupon. My manicurist had NO IDEA what she was doing. I literally gave her step by step instructions because she wasn't putting the polish on my entire nail and she forgot to put my hand in the dryer then tried to put another coat on top. I knew I didn't dry enough but she seemed to just want to hurry up so she put the top coat on and I noticed these matte parts of my nail instead of it being shiney like usual. I showed her and she ended up having to do that WHOLE hand again while I was getting my pedicure. I just wanted to get out of there. There weren't many colors at all so I had to pick black for my toes even though I had blue on my nails. I left there and went to my usual nail place to get the matching color for my toes. I bought a Groupon for a $25 Spa Gel Mani-Pedi and was very disappointed.. The lady had no interest in satisfying her customer, and did a horrible job on both the mani and pedi. I don't understand why it was called a "spa" mani-pedi.. She didn't touch my cuticles, and instead painted over them with the nail polish. My gel mani -- awfully done with bubbles on the nails and nail polish all over my skin. The only reason I didn't give this place less than 2 stars is because the rest of the place looked decent and the rest of the other workers made me feel welcomed... Must update again: I went in for another manicure and pedicure, and silly me, I made an appointment for 10am. And would you believe it, the manicurist did the same thing to me again, almost a year later! Lol. She comes in around 10:08, and said to me, "Oh! You're early!" And once again, I said to her, "No, my appointment was at 10, I am on time." And she just kind of laughed. At this point I'm kind of done. But I did my mani/pedi and then asked for an eyebrow waxing. She said, "Sure, would you like the lip done too?" And I said, "No thank you." Now, I don't mind when salon people who are waxing your eyebrows offer to do the lip as well. But once you say "No" that should be the end of it. But after she did my eyebrows, she looks at me and very rudely says, "You know, you really need to do the lip." And I said, "No, I don't, thank you." I have chosen not to do my lip b/c it's really not that bad and once you start, you have to upkeep. But this woman's attitude and rudeness was the last straw, and is now the final reason why I won't go back. The rest of the staff have been nothing but wonderful. Love Theresa's massage, and love Danielle reaching out to me. But you're only as strong as your entire staff, and in my opinion, this manicurist is bringing the team down. Update: changing from 3 stars to 4... they saw this review and reached out to me to set things right, including offering me a free service. Very appreciative of that. Customer service is very important to me. I feel like some places would see this review and just get bitter and say screw you, but Danielle, the top stylist there, reached out to try to explain the confusion with prices and offered me a service for free. I made sure to tip her A LOT. But I could hear the chatter of the salon and the radio music blasting while in the massage room. Not at all her fault, almost feel bad for her and want to tell her that her fingers have the magic in them to start her own spa, lol!! Anyway, came back b/c they gave me a coupon for "buy a pedicure, get a free manicure." I was the first appointment of the day, and the lady was late. She walks in at 10:10 and had the audacity to say to me, "Oh, you're early." I said, "No, I was on time." She did my pedicure and manicure which was alright. When I went to pay, the manager came up and said, "So she gets the free manicure, so just charge her for the pedicure, so it's $25." But I had been looking at their menu of services, and it said a pedicure was $22. So I said, "Oh, did the prices change since you put out these menus?" The manager then started stammering and finally said, "Oh, just charge her $22." I wasn't being rude, I was sincerely asking if the prices had changed. And if they had, they shouldn't put out old price menus. Were they just trying to get money out of me? I don't know. Probably not gonna go back... but would LOVE to find out if Theresa (the massage therapist) works at any other salon locations... she is the ONLY reason this place is getting three stars from me. I went to this place because I had a $25 groupon for a gel mani-pedi. I was as disappointed as the customer who wrote a review earlier. First off the groupon is very misleading. The gel is only for your finger nails, not your toes. Not sure if it is groupons fault or t he salons'. That was the first thing that irked me about this place. But I was like find for $25 it's still a great deal. IT is not very professionally run. When I arrived I was not greeted for more than 5 minutes. I just stood there while girls were giving haircuts and talking all while looking right at me. The pedicure was not so bad but it was rushed and there was not really much massaging of the feet. It was basiclly just bubbles and then she took my old polish off and cut and filed my nails. I unfortunately had the same experience with my gel manicure. First off the girl got so much polish on the sides of my nail that when the uv light seals the polish, it actually sealed it to my skin. It was lookingl like she attempted to fix it but did a horrible job trying. I had both services done on a wednesday for an event I had that Friday night. By Saturday night the polish on from my "gel mani" was already chipping mostly beecause once the polish from my skin began to come off it picked up the polish from the nail. The nail never got a good "seal" because so much polish was attached to my skin so I left an actual opening. And as eveyone who has ever had a gel mani knows, unless the entire nail is coated and covered properly you will get chips. And once you get even the tiniest chip, more chips and eventual peeling is sure to soon follow. So why I can't tell you that this place all in all is horrible, I would def. never go back there for nails. I may try a haircut but just seeing the way the nail area is run I'm not sure I would even do that. Hopefully I will have better luck in a different salon next time I get nails done. read more

I went there June 2012 with a groupon for haircut , I brought along a picture of a short hairstyle that I want, show it to Danielle, and when she finished cutting my hair it was nothing like the picture that I showed her, and worst it was so short that you can see my scalp, then the owner charged me large amount of tax, I sat in my car and tried to fix the problem that Danielle made, a lady came out and saw me looking mad, she said "I don't like the manicure also", since then I don't even bother what groupon had to offer about this salon. It took me 7 months for my hair to grow longer, now I have a better haircut from somewhere else. Never again!! read more

OK... I wanted to have a nice haircut with style and conditioning treatment. The groupon advertised it as a "deal" - $29 for supposedly $85 worth of services. Well... after visiting the salon I can tell there's no way what I got there could possibly be worth $85. My hair got washed and some conditioner was put in, then I waited for 30 or 40 minutes because the stylist was working on some other woman and when her assistant asked her about me - she told her I could wait because "it's not gonna hurt her" sitting with conditioner on my hair. I felt kind of neglected and unimportant there (after brining them my business lol) I got a hair cut (she cut the ends of my long hair) and my hair was dried. The whole thing of cutting and drying took maybe 10-15 minutes. That's it! I could not see how it was a deal. I doubt someone ever pays $85 for something like that at that place. It's not a deal and just a way to get people in for advertising a groupon, promising something great and delivering something primitively simple. I tipped generously (20% of the pre-discounted price) though, but I figured maybe the stylist didn't want to put an effort because I had groupon and she was not expecting a good tip? Anyway since the services were subpar and definitely not anywhere near "luxe" I will never be back. I could have done the same at any other salon that advertises wash and style for 15 bucks. Don't be fooled by these groupon they offer - it's not a deal, in fact you are actually overpaying for what you get. read more
