First, it's not located in "Northfield." Maybe they're doing that to disguise where they are. This review is for beauty on 9 in Englishtown/Manalapan, New Jersey. Horrific experience tonight. May have gotten a brain bleed as a result of Christina's negligence!!!!! Came the day before holiday, and I had an appointment. As did many others. No problem there. Problem was when one woman and maybe her daughter came in without an appointment and Christina told them fine. But as a result, she was inattentive to me the whole time. Kept answering phones and looking around at others. That wouldn't have been horrible until she was flat ironing my hair. She then looks up and next thing I know, she slammed the side of the flat iron, which is kind of a heavy device, against the side of my head!!! There was no reason this should've happened. If she is also the manager then maybe she should focus on managing and not doing here. Or hire a separate manager?! I don't know if she even realized she did it because she didn't apologize and continued to flat iron l, though it was almost done. I am giving her the benefit of the doubt here. If she knew she slammed a flat iron into my head, why didn't she apologize? I gave a fine gratuity, but in hindsight, wish I hadn't. Bad headache and a little dizzy now. Not OK!!! I had gone to a different stylist a few weeks ago, and it was fine, so you take your chances at the salon. But for the same price you can find another place that is more attentive. On the positive side, it is quite easy to make an appointment which I appreciated. But I did NOT appreciate being assaulted to the side of my head with a metal tool!! :-(( read more

I went to Beauty on 9 for a regular polish (not gel) manicure and a pedicure. The place was clean and the staff was friendly. My pedicure was great. The selection of non gel polish is small and many of the shades are old. While she was polishing my nails, the girl let me know that gel polish lasts much longer than regular. Several hours later I noticed several small chips- by the evening every nail was chipped and my nails look a week old. If you decide to use this place, bring your own polish. read more

Not good at all. My daughter went today for her prom nails with a simple design of a French-ish with a fine silver line. She was told they cannot do that, so she asked for an almond shaped ombré. Again she was told they cannot do the ombré and she was pushed to do square The nails are uneven, thick and way longer than she wanted. really disappointed since now her prom nails are 100% not what she wanted and look terrible. read more

christina was so inattentive she hit me in the head (wap! bang) with her flat iron, and possibly didn't even realize as never even apologized. caused me much distress/head pain. saw a neurologist this week. oh, my hair? given she answered phones, helped people without appts the day before a major holiday, and was overall inattentive (constantly looking around while doing my hair), hair itself came out fine. good blowout, but no blowout is worth getting a head concussion! why, oh, why, did she have to look around while using a burning hot tool near my scalp? in this case, she didn't burn me, but banged the entire iron onto my head. not ok. completely unacceptable. have had my hair blown out for well over 50 years by dozens of stylists and this never occurred before. it was a completely needless accident. maybe don't take customers after 5 pm the day before thanksgiving and focus on your clients in the chair (with advanced appts) instead?! my head is still killing me - completely needless, and i even paid in full and gave a very good gratuity (out of habit?) so, go here at your own risk. maybe you won't be as unlucky as me? or maybe..... well, you can take your chances with someone with hot tools and scissors being inattentive - your call. also, i tried to communicate with them about it, but never heard back. maybe language barrier? read more

My biggest pet peeve about getting my nails done is when they say they can do a design and in the end, they fail. I didn't ask for anything crazy. I wanted two rhinestones lined up vertically and for my previous nail color to be completely removed. I got two rhinestones that were square, so it doesn't look good when one is crooked. He had a hard enough time putting them on, but then he must have pushed too hard and made a hole in the gel nail polish. Not to worry though, it was just barely covered by the rhinestone. I guess when he tried to fix it, the tool he used left a line down the middle of my nail. I was pretty annoyed at this point that I just let it go so I could leave. It wasn't until I left that I noticed that there was still a trail of my old nail polish on the sides!!! I went home and had to clean it off. read more

Beauty on 9 recently changed their name from PP Majestic but they are still the same owners! They offer blow outs and nail services. I'm giving them a 4 because their nail services are not that great but the blow outs are amazing. Blow outs usually are $25 but mine came out to $30 or $35 because I have super long hair. Even so they blew my hair out in just a half hour and it looked great. read more

Came here several times for eyebrow and hair. Mother usually comes for nails. They seem to make the prices up as they go along here. Once paid $25 for my hair, another time paid $30 for the same exact thing to be done. Mother normally gets acrylic fill ins. Almost every time she gets her nails done here, they either chip or crack completely. Their classic excuse is that: "you need to come every two weeks." My opinion is that they purposely do a half hearted job to ensure she'll be back in a short amount of time so they could make more business. This sort of turns me off. They don't do a great job on my eyebrows either. One time got them done here, the girl barely even waxed off two hairs and charged me $1 more than the advertised price. If I told you my eyebrows looked exactly the same as they did before I got them done, you totally wouldn't believe me. The hair services are okay. My hair always looked nice after they did it, but they use multiple hairdryers at an extremely high tempurature and they burnt my scalp a few times. The bathrooms here are pretty gross too, which you wouldn't expect from a salon. Overall, I suggest going elsewhere. I've been pretty disappointed coming here. Would only come here for something simple like a hair straightening if you are in a pinch. read more

Do not go here for a blow out. I needed a quick blow out for a party tonight and it came out absolutely horrendous. I am actually going to go rewash my hair and do it myself. First, it was so flat so I asked him to give me some more volume, which he sort of did but it was lopsided. My left side was higher than my right. So I asked if someone else can fix it because the original guy clearly didn't know what he was doing. The second guy sort of fixed it but he made it flat again. I was so over it I just ended up leaving. I did tell him I am going to have to go home and fix it myself and he didn't seem to care. I found it really insulting that I told him I have to go home and fix it and he didn't offer anything, like to rewash my hair and redo it. $30 down the drain basically. I would definitely not reccomend this place for hair. read more
