Had a horrible experience here where they convinced me that I needed a porcelain inlay for a cavity between two teeth. They said the entire procedure would take 3 hours. The dentist doing the procedure messed up the fitting twice and he ended up needing to bring the head dentist who runs the office in to fix his mistakes. The entire thing ended up taking 7.5 hours, making me miss a couple of critical meetings. They also sent me only half the quote so instead of it being $550 out of pocket, it ended up being $1,200 out of pocket, with insurance if you can believe that. Also couldn't get my x-rays there. Ive had a couple hiccups with Luxe Dental, but over time I have come to see the problem really lies solely with just a couple of the employees at the front desk. Dr. Nguyen is talented and kind, and the rest of her staff is absolutely incredible. If you happen to encounter any speed bumps like I did, please ask to speak to Amanda, the office manager, rather than speaking with anyone at the desk. In my recent experience, she is very understanding and immediately offered to rectify any of their miscommunication by covering the additional costs said hiccup resulted in. I saw Dr. Loh after seeing a dentist up in Frisco that I was not overly happy with. I found this office through my insurance's Find A Dentist tool. My first impression of the office was that it is very clean, modern, and might I say "bougie". They check your temp and oxygen levels prior to bringing you back - they hit all the marks on COVID. My hygienist was awesome - very friendly and gentle. They took photos of all your teeth to show you on a screen and Dr. Loh went over in detail what I needed done and WHY. I came back the following Monday for two crowns (my first time ever getting crowns). The experience was as good as it could be given the circumstances (who likes getting crowns???) Dr. Loh and his team made sure I was comfortable the entire time and aside from having my mouth open for a while, it was painless. I came back two days later to have my bite adjusted - they got me right in. My teeth feel and look great and I'm happy to have found a dentist that prioritizes permanent solutions that will last longer than temporary fixes. read more

First let me say I never leave bad reviews because I believe in settling disputes personally; however, the staff refuses to respond appropriately... Biggest problems: 1) I went for a routine cleaning & they charged me for a deep cleaning that was questionable ($197 out of pocket after insurance and never posted to Evidence of Benefits review) & then refused to give us our dental records after I wanted to see how the math didn't make sense. 2) placed a partial crown that has failed and the dentist just wants to "move" meaning file away my tooth instead of replacing it (* she doesn't explain things well, even though I understand clinical matters) 3) refuses to send my full records to another dentist with notes to include diagnoses and treatment history...only images by email. Visited the Uptown location soon after moving to Dallas. After my initial cleaning appointment, I was told I would need cavities filled. Scheduled an appointment for that and came in the following week. Everything went good with the treatment until I was leaving. The front desk lady told me I would owe $500 out of pocket. I was confused because I have two insurance plans. She sent me the bill via text. After arriving at home, I receive a call from her telling me I do not owe anything, and she did not see that I have two insurances? A week later, I receive another text asking me to schedule the rest of my treatments? I call and she lets me know I have three more cavities that need to be filled. Note: I regularly go to the dentist for cleanings twice a year. The dentist had not mentioned any more cavities and told me we would put those teeth on "watch" and reevaluate at my next cleaning. Also unsure as to why I wasn't told to schedule for this after leaving my initial treatment and the dentist had not said anything about more fillings. The front desk staff then texts me private treatment information for a different Olivia?? When I asked about this, they replied with "im sorry, i sent the wrong olivia, let me send the correct one". I then called to let the office manager I will not be returning. I definitely do not feel confident going to an unorganized practice that sends private patient information to others. Like another review stated, they some how miraculously have an opening when they want you to spend money to get unnecessary procedures. The scheduler for sure lied when she said they were booked for the next 6 weeks if I didn't take the spot that opened up. Please don't fall for it. Clearly ZERO regard for the ADA principles of ethics and the code of conduct that this dentist has promised to uphold. If you're worried about going to a boutique dentist and getting ripped off, I was too. I can tell you that the treatment plan I got from Dr. Nguyen at Luxe Dental was the same as a second opinion from a non-boutique dentist office in Dallas. Also, Luxe Dental is a preferred provider for MetLife Dental. Pros: -Great location in West Village, Uptown Dallas with easy access to parking -Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Lu are very good at what they do and communicate with you throughout the process -The dental hygienists/technicians are very competent and work alongside Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Lu very well -State of the art dental technology (that I didn't even know existed) like digital imaging, 3-D imaging, some sort of photo scan that highlights where decay is -EVERYONE is concerned about your comfort from the moment you walk in and throughout your dental work -They offer you water, blankets, pillows, noise-cancelling headphones, iPod, tv/remotes, etc. -Super clean office, rooms and materials -Great follow-up from the office to make sure you're okay Cons: -I really don't have any for Luxe Dental. I think medical costs suck in general and Luxe Dental was very open to working out payment options with me even though I just opted to pay in full. It also helped that their prices are cheaper with reduced with MetLife Preferred Provider pricing. I would definitely recommend them to my friends. :) read more

I have been going to this dentist for almost 10-years and have always been happy with the level of service and quality of work until recently. I had started the process of getting Invisalign with this office since I have trusted them for years. I was extremely disappointed on what was going to be provided so I decided to get a second opinion. I made the choice to go elsewhere for my treatment but had agreed to pay for the services they had already done. I was told I would get refunded the remaining balance that had already been paid along with the funds they collected from my insurance company. It took over 2 months to get my money back after multiple phone calls and emails. It has been almost 6 months and I am still waiting for them to send back the money they collected from my insurance company. I have called and emailed several times which they always claim they have taken care of my issue or that it is my insurance company that doesn't know what to do. I call my insurance company weekly to find out that nothing has been submitted or taken care of. I have even told them to give me a check directly and I will send it back to my insurance company and they just breeze over the suggestion completely. At this point, they have literally committed insurance fraud. I have email after email claiming it will all be taken care of by "tomorrow" and nothing. If you want a cleaning and that's all you need, then have your cleaning here. However, if you need a procedure done, go somewhere else. I've been having my dental work done here for the past 2 years, all cleanings with the excaptions of 2 crowns. I just ended up having to do another crown. I was told this as the lead dentist was in the process of a filling. I had the gas being my last filling/crown went bad. Long story short, the doctor loses control of the drill and injures the inside of my mouth. She does mention it while doing the 3 hour procedure, very nonchalant. Nothing else is mentioned. I am told a prescription has been called in and I am thinking it's pain meds being it turned into something more than a standard filling. The RX is for a mouth injury. They had to use a laser to stop the bleeding from the inside of my cheek. The inside of my cheek was purple, cut and swollen. Nothing was said to me, no apology, no explanatio, nothing! In addition they charged me additional $150 for the laser they used to stop the bleeding on the cut she had caused. I had no idea my mouth was injured being I was numb. When I got to my car being I was experiencing discomfort where the crown was done and the corner of my mouth I looked in the mirror to find a cut in my mouth, that was already bruised and swollen. If you want a fancy office and want to spend a lot of money on dental come here. Its all about making money here and they do not care about if they injure a patient during a procedure. I am very disappointed in how this situation was handled. I called the next day to advise them you could see the bruise from the inside of my mouth on my bottom lip and talked to the dentist. My first and only experience at Luxe Dental was mediocre at best. I expected much better given the location and appearance of the dentist office. I have seen other dentists in the Dallas area, but unfortunately had to change due to a change in my dental insurance. The other dentists that I have seen offer FAR better customer service. I had originally scheduled my appointment for 3:30PM on a weekday. I got a call from the dentist office requesting I change my appointment to 2:30PM instead. I was accommodating and switched the time of my appointment, showing up at 2:15PM as requested since I was a new patient. After sitting in the waiting room for an hour not knowing when the dentist would be able to see me, I gave up and left at 3:15PM. I am still not sure why I was asked to go in at 2:30PM instead of my originally scheduled 3:30PM appointment. read more

The office is really nice, but the service is mostly about making money than doing what is best for their clients. They want you to do exams (with xrays) two times per year. For a person with healthy teeth, that is not required. They were rude when I said I only wanted a cleaning upon my second visit because I just had had the full exam and xrays done 6 months prior. They also try to convince you to have work done that is not necessary - they advertise as preventative. Most dentist are more careful and prefer to wait. I said no to two 'preventative' procedures. Recently went to a different dentist and was told everything looks good - no work needed. Unfortunately my partner when forward with a procedure at Luxe that was sold as 'preventative' only to have them mess up his tooth. He went to another dentist who said what they did was unnecessary and now he will likely have to have a root canal in the next year or two. If you are going to go here, be smart. If they suggest a bunch of procedures, get a second opinion. read more

I hate giving bad reviews, honestly I do, but the dentist I saw acted like I was a total inconvenience and my experience there will be my last. I clearly booked an appoint to fix a broken filling by walking in and making an appt with the receptionist directly. I was thrilled they could take me within a few days and I was even able to get my dental history records over to them in time (I had recently moved to Texas from out of state). When I went in, I was greeted with a polished smile and brought to my room pretty quickly (good so far). After I met the dentist she poked around at my mouth and just told me I broke my filling (well duh! that's why I was there) and that I'd need to make an appt to get it fixed ....umm, wait, what? I told her I was there THAT day to get it fixed and that's when the displeasure seemed to kick in. With agitation, she told me she'd prep and be back. I proceeded to wait in the room an hour (no joke I checked time stamps on texts and emails I had sent while waiting in the chair). I felt like I was completely forgotten about, no one even came in with a time status or to check on me. When the procedure was completed, I felt that the billing lady was taking her sweet time and I was told to wait on the bench nearby. Ugh - was not happy. All in all, the filling stuck but the taste in my mouth for this place remains sour. I had heard such great things about them from friends whom I trust..perhaps the dentist (cough - the entire staff) was having an off day... but you're better off going somewhere else. This office is beautiful and has state of the art equipments. The staff is very friendly and my cleaning was very thorough! The dentist came in and barely read my chart though. I understand you have alot of patients to see, but 1 minute to read my chart isn't asking for much. She told me I only have 1 cavity and I should take care of it ASAP. I had to point out to her that the hygenist that cleand my teeth reported 4 cavities. She took another look to realize there was in fact 4 cavities. Meh. I was quoted for a porcelain onlay, 2/3 crown, which files some teeth away to fit the crown (this would have cost me $400 with my current insurance). I sent my sister, who is a dentist that lives in a different state, a copy of my x-rays. My sister said that all I needed was a regular fill, which would cost approx $30 with my insurace. I'll go ahead and fill it for $30. Thanks. I assume the upsell is to cover all the fancy equipments. Edited- I changed from a 3 star to 2 star solely on the comment in the response about composites lasting "at best" 2-3 years. Easy Google search shows its easily 7 years. I somewhat agree with the upsell complaints. They're not out to deceive you, I feel very confident in that. However, they're just perfectionists. Let me put it another way... It's not so much that they're upselling you with something you don't need... it's just that you might be okay with a honda and they're providing a porsche. Anways, I've taken off a star for that, although they're probably deserving of 5 stars. I struggled with giving them a 4 or a 5. That said.... this team is fantastically skilled. Dr Nguyen is meticulous about her work, uses the best technology, and as far as aesthetic issues go I doubt there are many better than her. Her dental hygienist, Ahn, spent over an hour cleaning my mouth and teaching me how to keep better care of it. The cleaning was undoubtedly the best I'd ever had. 5+ stars for Ahn. To say that I have dental anxiety is to say that there are a few drops of water in the Atlantic Ocean. I'm what most dentists call their "special patient", and it's been a struggle for me to find a good place to get the work I need with the sedation I want. Luxe has been heaven for me (even though it took me 2 years to finally get all of my work taken care of, due to my own craziness). How this place has anything but 5 star reviews is beyond me. Clean, modern facilities? Uh, check. DOUBLE check. This is the nicest dental office I've ever visited. TVs in every room (though I'm always too drugged to know that they're on), extremely comfortable chairs. Trust me on this one; I've spent 5-7 hours in them on multiple occasions with ZERO soreness or discomfort. They machine their own CEREC crowns, too, which means you don't have to leave with a temporary and come back once the real crown is made by an outside lab. Who wouldn't want to make ONE trip for that kind of dental work? Friendly staff? Uh, TRIPLE check. I can't overstate this enough: every single person here has been top notch and professional, from the back office staff to the hygienists to the wonderful, WONDERFUL office manager who oversees my sedation. I've had nothing but kind, understanding treatment from them. And then there's Dr. Nguyen. Friendly, explains all work, understands that I don't do well in dental chairs, and does top notch work. I went to another dentist (friend of our family) just to get a second opinion (because I needed nearly every single tooth in my head worked on), and he even asked who did my teeth. "Luxe Dental in Uptown", I replied. His comment: "It's really good work." Now to the kicker, which I see some people on Yelp complaining about: price. I've had a MASSIVE amount of dental work done. All 4 quadrants of my mouth required root canals, fillings, crowns, veneers, you name it. I ran all of their pricing by another dentist and guess what? It was the same. This isn't some overpriced Uptown dental office-cum-day spa. They charge you a fair price for good work in a fantastic environment, and I see no reason to complain about this. Overall, if you're shopping for a dentist, I see ZERO reason you should bypass Luxe. I drive from nearly Fort Worth to come here because of how I'm treated; they're that good. One note: I had a hard time finding a dentist who would actually knock me out without general anesthesia. Most offices will do nitrous OR Halcion/Triazolam, not both. Dr. Nguyen and her staff will allow both at the same time (for a small fee, of course), and to me that's a godsend. I've been able to have hours and hours of work done at once, and I barely remember even being there. You will likely have to go back in for a bite adjustment, but who wouldn't expect that? I have never seen a more beautiful dental office in my life! What a snazzy place! In fact, it looks more like a spa than a dentist's office which is a really pleasant change from the many grungy 1970's buildings that house most dentist offices. I think one of the best advantages of Luxe is that they have a special little xray wand that snaps a shot of every single tooth--that you then get to see the xray of each individual tooth on a flat screen tv in front of you--so there is no denying any decay or work needing to be done. I think Dr. Nguyen is very professional, did a great job with my seven!! cavities, and for an added bonus Dr. Nguyen is gorgeous. read more

Best dental practice I have ever been to! Dr. Nguyen is the best dentist I have ever encountered. She is very meticulous to detail, and very focused on her patients well-being, happiness and most importantly, comfort. The staff is very courteous and nice as well. I will never go to another dentist as long as I am living in Dallas. She did everything possible from saving me from a root canal (and was successful). She took her time to make sure everything was perfect. She even uses distraction methods to make sure the shots are painless, which helps a lot since I have needle anxiety. My Invisalign program has finished! I had the worst teeth, crooked since childhood and getting worse not to mention old silver fillings that I was having issues with and that the dental team have skillfully and painlessly removed and replaced with 'invisible' Porcelain. We decided on a schedule to remove old fillings and then replace them with perfect digitally created Porcelain replacements. After the old material was removed, digital images were taken of the tooth and then their technicians created the perfect replacement on computer right in front of my eyes! They go away, have their machines reproduce the crown, test it with a first fit and with a tiny bit of refinement it goes in - a perfect fit. If I remember correctly for each crown/part crown, I was in and out, start to finish in about 2 hours - Wow! Dr. Nguyen and her team have been fantastic from beginning to end with every stage of my dental care and my wife has told me my smile has literally grown because I'm not self-conscious about my discolored, 'wonky' teeth! Because of the Invisalign program Dr. Nguyen put me on, I can now access my teeth nicely with my brush and floss because they are aligned correctly. I drink a lot of coffee and now barely have any staining build up on or between my teeth which mean minimal time at my regular cleaning visits (which is always pleasure) and even more importantly, I have great looking teeth in great condition with healthy gums! In the 8 years I've been going to Luxe Dental, Dr. Nguyen and her team have always treated me and my wife superbly well. I will not go anywhere else. Thank you so much Luxe Dental! read more

It seems that there is a common theme of upselling and suggesting more invasive or intensive procedures than what is ultimately necessary. I came in for a normal teeth cleaning, which they did not do. Rather, they suggested a deep cleaning and a full set of Invisalign for my teeth (for context, I am young, never had a cavity, had a cleaning just 7 months prior, and had already worn braces). When I requested just a normal cleaning because a deep cleaning would cost $850 rather than the $85 I had anticipated when entering the office, they said they could not anymore given liability. Then, I received a bill the next day for my consultation. So, in total, I received recommendations for $8k of dental work and then got a bill for my consultation, all while receiving no cleaning whatsoever. All I wanted was a basic cleaning, since I had just recently moved to Dallas. The people were all nice there and the atmosphere was pleasing; however, for people who are not as diligent as me, I wanted to put a warning (especially if under financial hardship), that this office seems very keen on requesting the maximum set of changes, rather than the plan that is the least invasive or costly. Overall nice people, but do your research and perhaps get a second opinion, because what they recommend will likely be overkill and not necessary for your situation. read more

My teeth and gums have never looked so good and been in such great condition! I have had multiple crowns done (the Cerec technology is superb - you leave with your crown done - no return visits). Due to major dental work over the years, I have always been reluctant to go to the dentist. Once I found Luxe Dental, the reassuring manner of Dr. Nguyen (she explains procedures clearly) and acute awareness of ensuring that I experienced no pain makes me look forward to my appointments. Both my husband and I are success stories with Invisalign at this office as well. I moved to Dallas a year ago and was in need of a regular dentist. I was working in West Village and was intrigued by the "pretty" dentist office there. The office is very nice and always smells good! My hygienist is An and he is the best. No pain during the cleaning and the nicest person---try to get him if you can, you'll love him. I actually look forward to my 6 month cleanings because I know they're going to do a great job with no pain or hassle. The Good 5-stars for having a beautiful, clean office and friendly staff. It was the best looking dental office I've seen! The Bad 3-stars for trying to up-sell me a 3/4 porcelain crown that I don't need (similar to other reviewers below), and on top of that a whole bunch of other "recommendations" that adds $$$ to the bill that my insurance can't cover. I sent my x-rays to my dentist friend and she said it's not necessary. She warned me that unfortunately, most dental offices are there to make money off of you and don't necessarily recommend what is best for you. In this case, this dental practice survives in West Village by recommending several procedures you don't need. You're essentially paying for their rent. Don't let the glitz and glam blind you. A few weeks after my check-up, they called me back asking if I'm still coming back for teeth cleaning. Since my insurance will cover it, I said yes. Of course, they asked in response, "what about the other procedures that we recommended?". I said that I'm not interested. They said they'll talk to their dental hygienist about that and will call me back. In my head I was wondering, what is there to talk about? It's only teeth cleaning. I was going to Luxe for a few years between 2012-2015. The regular cleanings were pleasant, nothing to report there. In 2013, I had a filling installed on a rear molar and was given the option of composite so I chose that. Fast forward to 2016 and the filling popped out while I was flossing. I called Luxe and their message to me was it's too bad the filling came out - if I want another one it will be full price. 3 years seems like a horrible life span for a filling, and I believe there should be a discount on future work. There was also an issue when the filling was installed where they messed up the surface of my tooth. I had to go back for 3 subsequent visits to have an annoying roughness in the tooth surface dealt with. So now I have a nice gap in that molar and if I want them to fix the work they obviously didn't do right, it will be full price. Shame on Luxe. read more

I do get the distinct impression i'm being upsold on expensive procedures. I've noticed unnecessary items being on my bills - including one paste to treat gingivitis which when I asked "is this a prescription item or over the counter" I was told it is only available at their office. It turned out to be an organic gel with very little evidence showing its medical efficacy - for $30 a tube. I later saw it on the shelves of CVS, over the counter Once I finish my invisalign treatment, I'll be changing dentists. read more

love the location since parking is easy to find and it is close to my house. it was easy to get an appt and when i first walked in i thought i was in a classy hotel. the staff all were very nice. they took a lot of time to exam me since it was my first time there. i went to my last dentist for over 10 years so it never occurred to me that i would be upselled but now i feel i did. they had to replace a filling that was cracking and suggested that i replace a few more. after paying for the first filling i didn't do the rest since my old dentist never mentioned that i'll need to replace so many filling. PS just changed my rating from 3 stars to 1 since i get a message from lux after i left my last review. i really don't appreciate getting a call about my review! read more

I had a wonderful experience. The staff was so polite and understanding of the pain I was having. I was given multiple options on how to fix my teeth and it was explained to me step by step on the procedure. If you ever have a dental question on cosmetics they are update with best technology. They even called me the following day to check on me. Best dentist in Texas hands down. read more
