My partner and I are in NYC this week and my goal is to visit every Lush shop in this city. Today we started our day at Lush on the Upper West Side at 2177 Broadway. With how cold and dry it's been lately I hadn't realized I had kicked my Lip Butter for my purse so I had to pick one up. The store is bright, spacious and nicely laid out. When we entered, Bridget greeted us and struck up a conversation. (Talk Lushie to me!) The store manager, Emme, even knew the store manager at my local shop in Chicago! They are both as nice as people come these days. Emme gifted me a Merry Figmas face cleanser (which has been on my shopping list for a minute.) It was so kind of her. I love the lush located by my apartment building. Most recently I bought the Barbie sugar scrub and the candy corn lip scrub. I've also taken a look at their chocolate face mask. Of course I think all of these things sound and look delicious, but I have to remind myself that it's just soap. This year I mostly enjoyed their halloween bath bombs. One of those bath bombs included the screaming banshee. I made the joke that I knew someone who reminded me of that particular product. The people working at this location are really friendly and make good conversation while you're browsing and making your purchase. This location also has birthday parties. I saw one going on while I was there although it doesn't seem like you can rent out the whole store. I loved every visit here and I just love the products. I especially love the promotional and seasonal products. I also always look forward to seeing the new lip scrub flavors. This is such a gorgeous little outpost on the UWS! Everything was very neat and the shop was pretty large compared to other locations so I had a lot of space to peruse the offerings. Like all Lush locations, the staff was extremely kind and helpful. I came in to play with the new items and to my surprise this particular location had the entire Bridgerton collab available a few days early. It is located a few blocks away from the 72nd St (1/2/3) station so it's very convenient to get to. read more

I love this store ! I loved the idea that I can do the 'In Store Pickup'. That option is a godsend during the holidays. At this specific location, they are super fast and always have your order ready as soon as you put it in. Normally a huge fan of Lush, but the salespeople here are beyond overbearing (and this is coming from a former Lululemon employee...). You do feel suffocated if you're just trying to browse. Maybe it's because this location is teeny tiny, so they are more on top of you, but it's not okay. Also, asking for samples is like pulling teeth. According to the Lush company rules, you're allowed three, and since I have beyond sensitive skin, I must try everything I am considering. But the salespeople here act like you're taking money out of their own wallets if you want to try something before buying. I've come here for facials before, which they're happy to do whenever you walk in. But I wish they'd back off just a tad. read more

You can smell Lush from down the street as you walk towards it! I love it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Everyone is eager to assist and talk about the products. They take time to explain the benefits of each so you can pick out the best stuff for your needs. I love that they provide samples so you can try out new lotions and soaps you wouldn't normally gravitate towards. I'm lucky that I work nearby so the employees stop in often with samples to lure me back in the shop. Works every time! If you stop in here, be ready to leave with a dozen bath bombs, body lotions and scrub and some gifts for friends. It's easy to stack up on good smelling products. read more

Its an OKAY lush. Simply OKAY. A few pointers: 1. This is a small shop, its also in a very inconvenient location if you plan on driving... 2.The usual fresh face facials that are placed in bowls over ice in other lush stores so you can smell and see them.. they are not on display here because the store is too small. 3. As an advantage thought the staff is very helpful and explained all the new products to me. 4.They do really push to sell you things though, but are very intelligent and informative about what the products have inside. 5. I would go back but only because I know what products I need. There are larger, and nicer lush stores in the city that I would suggest you visiting first before venturing to this lush store. Lush in general if you've never been is the perfect store to buy everything from fresh face masks to handmade soaps to hundreds of other products such as coffee lotion, shampoo, and bath bombs that turn tub water into sparkles and can explode flower petals. Initially I used to love there handmade soap but its pretty pricey and as someone who loves home made soaps I realized there are other individuals online who make just as amazing or even better home made soaps. If your interested in there face masks they have a new coffee line face mask(Cup O' Coffee) which smells amazing and you will most likely will try and eat it. They also have there standard fresh refrigerated masks such as BB seaweed, Love lettuce, cupcake, that is just some of the huge collection which really just depends on what you want the mask to do whether tightening... cleansing etc. Fresh face masks are approximately 8 dollars and larger non-fresh face masks are about $20. You will be able to get at least three masks out of the fresh face mask container. Each mask is made with fresh products and only lasts a limited time so you really know its FRESH! It really helps with cleansing and you feel refreshed. The mask of Magnaminty while it is expensive its worth it but I rather the fresh masks and the Cup O' Coffee. In conclusion go for there for facial masks fresh/standard definitely a must try. Handmade soaps definitely worth the try: Sandstone(super exfoliating)kind of like showering with a nice smelling stone, and sultana of soap(creamy with currants and apricots) are my favorite. I came here for the first time with a friend some time this week around their closing time, I think. My friend was raving about this place and insisted I go and check it out. And boy, am I glad I did. First of all, it smells amazing; natural and fresh. You can read and know every ingredient on the back of the shampoo bottle, soap bar or facial cleansers. But the best part wasn't the products. Actually, it was the customer service. There were three employees on that shift, two women and one man who were all very helpful. Dom (one of the young ladies), was very knowledgeable of the products; how they're made and what time and effort goes into making them. And seeing how it was my first time there, her knowledge on the products was very much appreciated. The young man that was there was full of life and energy. And the young lady that helped at checkout was very helpful as well, gave us samples and a book with every single product and jow they're used in it! My friend swears by this place! The staff here are outrageously creepy and overbearing. All lush locations are this way. I'm sure they're trained to be personable and think that is how they are interacting with their customers, but they have no self-awareness and they never know how to read the situation. It's typically intense, awkward and phony. Forcing conversation on your customers doesn't equate to helpfulness. They have a couple of products I like, but in the future I will only order from the Lush website - it's too cringe-y and unbearable to go inside their stores. It's a shame because now I will never be able to test their new products. read more

My goodness is this a gorgeous location! At the ground floor of an architectural masterpiece is this store, and it's so widely spread out so that it's welcoming, not overwhelming. Upon entering, I was greeted by a kind salesperson who introduced himself as Evan (forgive me if I spelled it wrong), who guided me to the products I was looking for (in a Lush addict so I always know what I'm looking for) within seconds. I had been nervous about showing up so close to closing and upon extending my apologies, he assured me there was plenty of time until closing. While checking out I sampled their fragrances -never tried them before and now I think I'll come back and get Dirty!- and my cashier even offered a free sample! I do have to say, that this store is packed with friendly staff that knows their products and they are able to tell you each product's use. I'm not one to shell out $10 on soap that just dissipates with one or two uses, but if you're looking for a gift that's not Bath and Body Works, this is your store. They have natural bath bombs, soaps, shampoos, etc. Their smells are a bit overbearing, but once you leave with one product it's less intense than standing in the store. I come here often because it's on my way home and I am just a little obsessed. I love that they make natural products and I've had great success integrating Fresh Pharmacy (cleanser) and Imperialis (moisturizer) into my facial skincare routine. They are also pretty good about giving out samples for you to try products before you buy. Here's the thing: the sales associates are paid on commission. Which means that they are hella pushy and they will always try to upsell you. If you know that going in your experience will be so much better. So just let them fawn over you and scrub down your entire body with an organic salt cleanser and, if you don't want to commit to a $34 jar, just say you want a sample to try out at home and that you'll be back soon. read more

The soaps may be a little pricey but the quality of their products and the natural ingredients they use make it worth it. The sales people are INSANELY HOVERY. I would make it past one only to walk into the next girls section and get the same overly chirpy queries. A 400 sq. foot store does not need four salesgirls wandering about, especially if they all reek of either working on commission or worrying about sales numbers so bad the store is on the brink of closure. Here's a hint ladies: If you hear one shop girl get shot down with "Oh, I'm just looking" it is not because she messed up her delivery and secretly I'm hoping beyond all hope that The Right One will show me the way and allow me to open up my soul to the wonder that is your bevvy of recommended products... it's because that is the universal cover for "I don't want no stinkin' help, I'm shopping by myself and I love it." The products I once loved are twice the price now. This English company is now SO overpriced. $80 for two face washes and two lip glosses is stupid. But Sea Salt, you devilishly vodka-infused salt scrub, I do love how soft you make my skin, and will continue to buy you once a year or so. If I had a big bathtub I'd have a $20 a week bath bomb habit. even if I do hate the ones with glitter - I am not a tween god damn it! I love those products!!! Especially the "sugar baby" scrub... it is heavenly and makes my French boyfriend pet me, saying "yourr skin iz so meelkee and soft..." Why I knocked a star off... After more than 15 minutes in that store I kind of feel like throwing up a little, the mixture of all the different smells is overwhelming. A few years ago, I received LUSH products as a Christmas gift and I've been hooked ever since. They have the most amazing selection at their stores. The bath bombs are incredible and they come in the coolest scents like peppermint/basil, lavender/chamomile, and (even though I don't usually care for fruity) their strawberry is great. You simply crumble the bomb into your bathwater and 'voila!' instant paradise. They also have a soap line where last Christmas i bought marzipan soap. MARZIPAN soap. You will never know how great it is, until you buy it. It's so great it (almost) makes me forget that the price of my next bath could probably feed a starving third world child for a month. Add in the sugar scrubs which leave you Cleopatra polished smooth and the rest of the unique hair and body care products and you will definitely not leave here without spending some serious dough, but the minute you use them, you realize it was totally worth it. read more

I can't bring myself to give any Lush location one star, even though that's what this location deserves for the customer service alone. I am as they call it a "big time Lushie" I've tried and own pretty much everything they've ever made and as a result have accumulated quite the number of empty black pots (you can trade in 5 for a fresh face mask). My boyfriend and I went to this location after lunch on a Saturday, restocked about $175 worth of products and then wanted to trade in 10 pots we brought with us for two face masks, but no, the girl at the register told us they only do one trade in at a time...uhhh what? I've been buying Lush for years and never heard that. I told her that it's never been an issue, and P.S. I just spent $175 at your store and she continued to argue and say that it's against policy. Finally, I said fine and asked if they could do two separate exchanges, one for me and one for my boyfriend, and still, she said no. I'll never go back to this location and the whole thing kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. I also asked for a sample of perfume, which she said they don't do. My advice, go to the SoHo location, the people are both friendly, and reasonable. read more

The girls were nice, but NOT to pushy (like others have mentioned). They were very knowledgeable. Some products in LUSH are meant to be a "treat" and others are for everyday use. So if you are worried about pricing, think of it this way. A soap is reasonably priced but if your total is more that you are expecting....think about the fun things you got as a "treat" for your shower or bath. I know for me, those add up quick. When i go in for just the basics I don't spend much but when I buy tons of bath gadgets, scrubs, scents and powders then I am thinking "okay, pack lunch this week!" haha! But even then, is $5 to much to spend on a bubble bath for the day you are going to need it?!? To me its not! I like to keep a bubble bar in my bathroom for "those days" when work sucks, or I need a break or whatever! Totally worth the $ in my opinion! I love LUSH!....& this is a great location! As with most Lush cosmetics​ locations are ..this place is very fragrant and very bright. As with most stores in New York City, particularly Manhattan, this one is also quite small. The staff go out of their way from the moment you walk in to make sure that you have everything you need or if you don't have it you can find it. They are sure to make you the most informed customer possible every time you visit. Sometimes they run out of items but that's much like every other Lush in the city... The most popular items are difficult for them to keep in stock. Be sure to check back during seasonal item time. But do so as soon as you find out about the items because they do tend to run out even more quickly if that's possible. Also...When you have a bunch of empty containers from there.... I just waited 40 minutes to make a simple gift exchange at the UWS location. Neither salesperson knew how to ring an exchange, but one said her assistant manager "Jen, with red hair" was across the street at the GYM taking a class, and would be right back. After 1/2 hour, I was told she would be back in fifteen minutes. I left shortly thereafter, with my unwanted products and without the exchange. I adore LUSH products and have been to the London stores many times. Never have I had to deal with an assistant manager who goes to the gym when on the clock, or a staff member who couldn't work the register by herself. Next time I'll order online or catch a plane.
