I popped into Lush on a dreich Friday afternoon to get some solid perfume for an upcoming holiday. I wasn't sure they still sold solid perfume as I was looking at photos online of an older style on and I couldn't see it on their online shop. So in I dived to the new store on Buchanan Street. Firstly - I normally try to avoid Lush because I'm not a fan of strong smells and it usually puts me right off. For some reason I didn't particularly notice it yesterday so maybe they rain was washing it away so I was able to linger a bit longer than normal. A shop assistant quickly helped me out with my solid perfume dilemma and explained they changed the packaging to a small pot rather than a tube as it meant you could use the whole thing rather than losing some of the produce when the tube broke. There's maybe 8 solid perfumes to choose from and it wasn't too hard to find a couple that I liked, especially as they have spray versions of them as well. The experience at the checkout was great as well, with natural, chatty staff. I'm always impressed by the staff at Lush as they really are lovely people who are super helpful and know their product range really well. They will always upsell you the £1 charity lip gloss but I can't resist it, even if I never use it. I also think this store is a better layout than their previous one on the other side of Buchanan Street (where Kiehl's now is) so their move actually makes sense.

I've been a fan of Lush since before they were Lush. Way back in the olden days just after Mark Constantine left the Body Shop there was a mail order company called Cosmetics to go, it wasn't around for long but my obsession with bathbombs began with a Cosmetics to go blackcurrant one, I inadvertently used it to dye my Mum's enamel bath purple - ahhh happy days. Cosmetics to go went and Lush arrived and my long suffering mother should probably get an honourable mention for not firebombing Lush. My sisters and I have between us welded dried flowers to the side of the bath - fox in the flowers bathbomb, dyed all the grout and brand new towels bright red - henna hair block and hospitalised my dad - allergic reaction to karma perfume. And those are just the ones I remember! But I love the products. Cruelty free, innovate, sparingly packaged and always do exactly what they say they are going to. I'm not going to pretend that they aren't on the spendy side, but you get what you pay for. The shampoos and conditioners are out of this world good, if you haven't tried them you must. The staff are knowledgable and passionate and always super friendly and welcoming. Combined with the sucker punch of gorgeous fragrances I can't help but grin like a loon in Lush and always spend way way more than I planned to!

Latest limited edition product, all proceeds going to charity. Glittery!

Ooh I love Lush. It's just so sparkly and fun! But there's a serious side to Lush too, in that they have high ethical standards. They are very vocal about fighting animal testing, and have ethical buying policies. All of their products are vegetarian, and quite a lot of them are vegan (and helpfully clearly labelled). Their products are hand made, minimally packaged, and have funny, quirky names. They can be a little bit pricey, but given their high standards, it's worth paying now and then for a wee treat, or for that special product that you just can't do without. My 'can't do without' product is their Full of Grace facial serum bar. It's a solid bar that you melt in your hands then massage into your face. It sinks right in so you can use it for daytime as well as night, and it's fine under make up too. When I first started using it, it made my skin so soft, and I was hooked. I also like their perfumes. I'm really sensitive to artificial fragrances and got to a point last year where I just couldn't use 'normal' perfume any more. The thought that I might go through life ponging like Stig of the Dump upset me greatly, but also upset my boyfriend, as I'd just bought him an aftershave that he was then unable to use without me recoiling in disgust. Which isn't really the desired outcome. The employees in Lush are VERY patient - I went through a phase of going in every couple of lunchtimes, trying on a new perfume, and walking out without buying anything. They must have been thinking 'oh yeah there's free perfume girl in again to cadge our fine scents' but they were so nice and helpful, and helped me find a couple that I can wear comfortably. My current favourite is Dirty. It's a fresh and minty spritz - very summery, and just makes me feel clean and fragrant. They change and discontinue perfumes quite a lot though, so I'm currently sort of stockpiling it whenever I have any spare cash, in case it's one of the ones that gets the chop! The staff are also just generally lovely people, and often just dish out compliments - 'nice scarf' or 'I really like your badges'. How nice! OK maybe they are doing it on purpose to make me feel all nice and appreciated and noticed while I'm in there, but it works. I love them! Lush is also ideal for presents. There's not many people that wouldn't love a little something from Lush - even most men would appreciate something or other. Apart from maybe my mum, who doesn't like anything that smells of fruit 'why would I want to smell like a strawberry' is a memorable mum phrase. But I'm sure I found a hand cream or a foot soak that she liked once, so Lush for the win every time.

I've been looking for something for dehydrated skin (the bane of my life) and decided to pop in here to see if I could get some help. Now this review was nearly a 2-star because the staff initially seemed a bit like they couldn't be assed and I was struggling to catch someone's else even though I'd been loitering in the skin care area for ages. Finally I got someone to help me and she was great - actually really helpful, showing me the products and happily gave me decent sized mini tubs to take home and try. I mean, if I'm going to spend £60 on moisturiser, I want to make sure it's amazing. This store is also a lot bigger than I expected and has a range of candles/bubble baths. If you're looking for something a bit more upmarket than Boots/Superdrug for your skin care and makeup, then Space NK is pretty damn amazing.

They stock NARS, Laura Mercier and stunning Shu Uemura eyelashes that will definitely make a statement. The staff are very helpful and you can get free consultations on the best products for your skin and tips on getting a flawless complection. I was once put in the direction of "Dr. Seabagh Foaming Cleanser" after a couple of months of breakout hell. I'd tried everything and this was a last resort, It wasn't cheap, £22 for 100ml bottle and I was sceptical but I decided to give it a go. It cleared up my skin in about 5 days, it was like a miracle! I swore by the stuff for nearly two years but then I moved to Germany for ten months and it stopped working. It could have been the water there but I haven't used it since. I might pop back soon to give it another shot as when it worked the results were fantastic and I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking for quick results for breakouts. As far as I'm aware Space NK is the only stockist in Glasgow, hurrah! They used to stock loads of Philosophy products but they don't have so many anymore. My favourite purchase from here was a lipgloss set from Philosophy which was called "A Few Good Men", these men were, "The Muffin Man" - a lemon muffin flavoured lipgloss, "The Gingerbread Man" - a tasty gingerbread lipgloss and my favourite, "The Ice-Cream Man." Unfortunately they don't have this set anymore, but who knows, maybe one day they'll make a return. Space NK is great, quite expensive but sometimes you need to pay that little bit extra when it comes to cosmetics. They also do sales now and then so you could grab yourself a bargain!

As far as I know, Superdrug is the (or at least one of the) only places to do this promotion. You can't even get it when buying in bulk from the post office. They always have fantastic offers on. If I go in for one thing - I usually come out with about ten more as the offers really are too good to resist including my favourite L'Oreal shampoo nearly always being on a buy one get one free offer. 4. They always have lots of staff on so even when it is busy you never have to wait long in the queue. 5. They stock make-up such as GOSH, Bloom and Barry M that aren't often stocked in other stores. 6. They have a Superdrug cheek tint that is very similar to that of Benefits "Benetint" I found this after years of using Benetint and can tell you that there is absolutely no difference, well apart from the fact that "Benetint" is around £23 and Superdrugs own is £1.91!!!!! 7. For the past few months they have had an offer on where you get 25% off Superdrug goodies and 10% off all other goodies if you fill in a short survey online. Wow... those are just a few reasons but if you are looking for a Superdrug, I would say this one is the best.

They have a good range and I like how it was all laid out - very appealing and hard to resist buying something just to give the brand a shot. I did notice that the displays seemed to be duplicated on each side of the store - I could be wrong, but if it's busy that might be helpful! The prices are pretty cheap too - foundations for around £10, single eyeshadow colours for around £5 and they also do a skincare range as well. The girl who served me was lovely and took the time to chat to me on a more personal level then just a customer which I really appreciated. The staff in the store seem to genuinely know about caring for your skin and hair and can direct you to the range which is most suitable for your skin type. While the products are quite expensive I feel that it is worth it if you are trying to address a specific beauty concern and of course they do sell lovely gift sets for men and women if you want to treat someone special. For Christmas this year I bought my Dad a great old fashioned shaving set from L'Occitane with a proper shaving brush and bowl and some rich, creamy shaving foam which I know he uses on special occasions instead of his usual "slap on some Gillette foam" routine.
