    Giant coffee
    Laura J.

Popped into luscious in Onehunga v. Early on Sunday morning while my car was getting a flat fixed. Great giant coffee was just what the doctor ordered n the bagels with lemon curd and jam smelt and tasted amazing. This little cafe is a step above the others with a large cabinet to choose from and reasonable prices (compared to the my Eden ponsonby café scene) All that's missing is a nice sunny courtyard.

It's a rare thing for me to get excited about cabinet food but Luscious is different - it's more of a deli than a cabinet and the salads are incredible. There can be up to 14 varieties at any one time, including such vegetarian delights as Luscious Lentils and Cashew Nuts. and Watercress and Feta Pasta with Walnut and Parsley Pesto. How good, seriously how good, do they sound? They taste every bit as delicious and are also available to takeaway in four different sizes. And don't worry carnivores, there's plenty that have meat in them too. In fact, Luscious is a caterer as well as a cafe and most of their lunch items can be ordered in bulk. How clever. The sweets here are also truly amazing with the Russian Fudge Cheesecake and Limoncello Balls deserving a special mention. Honestly, the food here is SO good and set over two floors of rambling rooms, it's a relaxed place to enjoy a leisurely lunch. Children are exceptionally well catered for with their own menu and playspace - what's not to like?

It is like having lunch at your cool aunt's place. Homestyle fabulous! Compared to the other options nearby, this sunny little glass front cafe is a little piece of heaven. The ladies who own it are super friendly, and say hello by name whenever I stop by. They do fabulous catering, and their morning tea is to die for (warm just baked cheese scones.... savory tarts with cumin and kumera... excuse me, I'm drooling...) At lunch time they always have an assortment of interesting and healthy salads -- tons of vegetarian options, and you can mix and match as many as you want in a container. One of my favorite options of late is the spicy eggplant. It's half an eggplant that's been roasted, scooped out, mixed up with spices and whatnot, and put back in the skin. I LOVE eggplant, and this is as good as it gets!!! I always find it hard to resist their beautiful cakes. I tend to buy a slice with the idea of bringing it home to share with my husband for dinner, but sometime around my afternoon tea I end up starting to sample it. I've had the carrot cake, which was delicious, and another lemon cake thingy which was also to die for. Check out their Facebook page where they advertise their salads and other goodies for the day! Worth a trip out if you're trekking around Mangere domain, or on your way back from an airport pickup!

I love this....my "physique", not so much ;) Entering here is basically like entering Whoopie Pie Heaven. They've taken an American classic and added a kiwi twist with flavours such as Hokey Pokey Chocolate, Anzac Cookie, Tangelo and Mixed Berry, Lamington...and the list goes on. They have two pie sizes, too, depending on your hunger/sweet tooth levels. "Whoopie Pops" are also on offer- a mixture of the pie and filling dipped in white chocolate. Can't reallllly go wrong there. Also awesome: dairy free, egg free and gluten free options available #winning.

I had actually never even seen a whoopie pie either, so I was quite excited about this new Kiwi take on a classic American treat! Once I heard it was two cakes sandwiched together with a creamy filling, I was absolutely hooked! My sister and I decided that we would try this place out and we are very glad we did. [Side note: make sure you go on an empty stomach because one Whoopie pie is filling!] We tried the 'Heroic' whoopie pie which is hazelnut and chocolate flavoured and the 'Playful' whoopie pie which consists of peanut butter and chocolate chunks. I was somewhat expecting a dry cake, but in fact it was incredibly moist! The filling just makes it a whole lot better! As well as selling whoopie pies, they also sell 'Whoopie Pops' (which look so nice in-store), hot drinks, milkshakes and ice cream sundaes - would could be more perfect?
