I have been in Lu's several times within 2 years and no one acknowledges me. I literally sometimes don't see anyone. I can hear associates talking but they are out of sight. So the atmosphere is very unfriendly. However, if you don't care about the lack of welcome, the clothes are pretty nice,shoes and purses are pretty nice. read more

I consigned and came in to collect my remaining sales profit. it amounted to $7, but they only give out money in increments of #10. I need to reconsign to collect my money. Great little consignment shop! My wife brings all of her lightly used goods there to resell. It seems to be chock full of customers whenever I stop by. Folks must drop stuff off & then shop. As someone who brought items for consignment, I was dismayed at how disorganized they were, how unfriendly they were. They have so many rules that they don't seem to follow and I found their website guidelines very confusing and limited. I brought an item from a well known London designer that was not even a year old and they refused it because they thought it was out of fashion. I am fairly new to consignment shopping and I am quickly learning that it is all about mall brands for the most part. Lu's is well organized with a rack dedicated to Chico's apparel and another to white jeans...though some of the other apparel racks are a bit on the overstuffed side. The shoes were displayed by size, which was refreshing to see in a reseller shop. Worth the visit if you are looking for Vera Bradley and Coach bags. The unmarked Vera shelf is one of the first things you notice as it faces the entrance. The prices are comparable to other consigners, in the $12-$40 range, but their vast variety and stock sets them apart. There is even a basket full of VB coin pouches, wallets and wristlets -- some new with the tags still attached! Other designer brand bags I found besides Coach were Dooney & Bourke and Michael Kors. These were in the $20-$150 range. Overall, I am adding this stop to my east side second hand shopping route and adventures. Even though the prices are a bit higher than moderate for clothing and jewelry. Lu's Back Door is a couple of miles after Pittsford GoodWill and JUST before Second Bloom...which is minutes from Fairport Landing where you find Anything Goes and Your Best Friend's Closet...and many more. Interesting business model they have at Lu's. I walked in a few days ago and actually saw two associates point at a customer and make a face and whisper back and forth. They then proceeded to talk about the customer while she was shopping (I could hear, the conversations were petty and reminded me of high school.) The customer knew what was going on, she was having a conversation in the back with someone else and it was clear she was no-one's fool. She was just there out of pure desperation to find an (unlikely) pair of shoes to match a dress for a special occasion. The real kicker was at check-out when they were so rude they refused to answer her questions about a few simple items. I have been an on-off shopper at Lu's, however, after today, I will never shop there again. From the woman's comments, nor will she and I heard her say plenty about their practices (how she consigned, they 'lost' or her stuff was 'stolen' and they said 'oh well') to the rude behavior given to her and other customers. Lu's store is mediocre compared to some other stores in the area. With such poor customer service, they should reconsider who they hire or whether they really want to be in business at all. By the way, the owner was not in the store - perhaps she should be made aware of how her low minded associates act when she is not around. read more

Don't take your clothes there! Dropped a designer dress off in December. They said had until February then it would go on sale. We'll lo and behold it didn't sell when it went on sale so they donated it. Never was informed verbally or on the receipt they gave me. Very dishonest business practice. I was also told talk to the manager "I just work here." Not available on Saturday, come back or call Monday. I would give zero star if I could read more

It is a well-stocked store that arranges clothing by sizes and colors. The price seems around $10+ and you can find interesting pieces, like a panther patterned jumpsuits for 16 bucks or a gray dress with pink elephant print lol For a small person like me, I'm happy to see the plenty options for extra small. They dedicate a rack for LuLaRoe but I'd say that's cheerleader effect in action haha. There is a wall for handbags and a small rack for shoes. They have a section for kid's clothing and a little bit menswear. You can also find cute housewares. A good place for browsing for sure! read more

I have cleaned out my closet and have about 50 clean designer items I no longer need. I was looking for a place to consign -- and just reading the policy on Lu's website, this place is so arrogant! Already get a rude and unwelcome, cocky vibe without ever having set foot in the store. Excuse me, if you want to make money off of my belongings, then YOU can put them on hangers which takes all of two seconds. If you want to stay in business best get that attitude in check. I've shopped at Lu's for over 10 years. I was very disappointed in how the staff treated me yesterday when I purchased a large amount of items. They actually seemed annoyed that they had to check out all of the items I bought, apologizing to the women waiting in line for the long wait. They truly acted like they were doing me a favor and couldn't wait to get rid of me. I don't give off that East-side vibe, so they tried to make me feel like a commoner in their presence. A little more friendliness and less arrogance would go a long way. Just because I live on the West side doesn't mean I don't have lots of $$$ ladies. I think I'll be checking out your competition. I have been a consigner and shopper here for years now. Their selection of items is usually pretty good. Their customer service (minus two employees) is the worst in the area. I have overlooked this a bit in the past but as of today, I cannot do it anymore. They are rude, yes, rude and they act like you owe THEM something. Consigners have been selling there for years....and there's a reason for it! Don't ever go to the "fast food" type stores that give you cash on the spot! They will offer you pennies for your items! The other day I brought some items for consignment to Lu's. At first, the girls said that I didn't have an appointment, so I had to leave my items outside and check inside to be sure that they could see me. After checking further, they found that they were looking at the wrong date and they would see me. I took my items in, some purses, shoes and clothing. I shopped while they decided what they were going to accept. Well, they accepted absolutely NOTHING. I was greatly disappointed. The purses were still in very good condition and better than some of those on the shelves for sale. The clothing was not in the winter season and they didn't want the shoes either even though they were seldom worn. Needless to say, I won't be back either to shop or sell anything. So instead of going to any other consignment shop, I donated the items to a local thrift store. I'm sure the people who shop there could really use some nice purses, shoes or clothing. read more

Lu's had pretty much something for everyone (though the selection for men - especially waist size 30 - was much more limited) and is like a post-high school Plato's. Most of what they have is casual, I wasn't able to find anything a little sexy to wear for a night out (maybe a few dresses, but not really what I was looking for). Some clothes were out of style or just too... not my style. The formal wear section was very small and I only found one dress around my size that was appropriate for a black tie event, but it was a lovely, like-new Ralph Lauren gown and I am sad I didn't end up needing it. Fair prices and decent selection, staff wasn't dismissive or rude at all. I would recommend Lu's to anyone on a budget. read more

I love thrifting/consignment shopping... vintage clothes.... furniture.... finds and deals. I really want to like this place more than I actually do each time I walk through the door. There is a decent section of clothing that the store has done a fair enough job weeding through to make sure it's of good quality. There is a wide variety of accessories and shoes... as well as sizes. It is the customer service that rubs me the wrong way. I worked my way through college as a sales associates in retail. I knew then how to treat customers and I have grown to expect a hello then I wall through the door, a "are you finding everything alright", at some point or "can I help you find anything?" followed by a line or two... this never happens here. The two times I had to ask a question I had to stand in a line and the woman at the desk I spoke to was not that interested in customer service. I limit my visits to their end of season sales one when I don't expect much help. I am giving this place a 3 based on inventory alone.... if they improve on their service maybe that will change. read more

If you're thinking about consigning here, think again. I brought some items over yesterday. When I arrived there were two cars in the parking lot. They were quiet so I thought, "Great." This should be "easy, peazy." I walked up to the counter. There were 4 employees who were in engaged in conversation. They saw me, but did not even acknowledge my presence. I was a bit confused and inquired if I missed the time for drop-off. Finally, one of the clerks came over and seemed annoyed. She had an attitude the entire time she was talking to me, in spite of my trying to be cordial. She gave me a number and told me it was going to take 20 minutes for my order to be processed. Okay, I get this. They probably want consigners to be shoppers too. So I wasn't all that put out. However, 20 minutes later when I checked EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE ITEMS I BROUGHT WERE REJECTED. This is not the first time this has happened. They didn't take anything? Not one item????? I'm not a "newbie" to consignment. I understand that a shop may not always want or need an item. However, I had brought some very nice, well maintained clothing and shoes. Two pair of shoes were practically brand new and still in the boxes! I had only worn them twice. I bought them last season. Very pretty patent leather sling backs. I hate to part with them, but we're moving long distance and I'm sacrificing some of my clothing for downsizing our move. This is not the first time I was met with a snooty attitude at the Drop Off counter. Horrible! I'll be bringing my items elsewhere from now on. The last time this happened, another consignment store took my items happily and they sold quickly. To be entirely fair, if you're there to purchase, you're likely to find some nice bargains. read more
