One review said they had the "best queso ever" at Lupitas Mexican Kitchen, but they apparently do not sell queso. So that was the first let down. The price of the 4 birria tacos was impressive, they were pretty good, just not amazing. The chicken quesadilla didn't really have any cheese, literally the chicken just fell out because there was nothing to hold it together. Lupita's Mexican Kitchen is just another great example of my long-held belief that the best Mexican food does not come from high-end or fancy restaurants that just drip with hipster ambiance, but rather I have always found that the best Mexican food comes from these humble little mom-and-pop places that are inexpensively furnished, but the staff is usually smiling and the food is often indicative of how truly amazing that Mexican food can be. Lupita's Mexican Kitchen has a pretty straightforward menu and I had it narrowed down to either a burrito or the birria tacos and I asked the smiling young lady behind the counter which of the two I should go with. After a momentary pause, she pointed to the birria tacos sign. I paid for my order and found a seat. In a few moments, the smiling girl called out to me and handed me my food. The plate consisted of four birria tacos, a cup of consome (it appears that is the correct spelling for this. I thought it would be spelled like the traditional consomme) and a few small containers of both a spicy red sauce and a creamy green sauce. The price point was thirteen dollars. Quite a good price for the quality and quantity of the food they provided. These birria tacos were very good. I tore into them with quite some gusto. Mexican food is truly a culinary gift. I would have to say that Mexican is one of my favorite cuisines and it is because of these wonderfully humble little mom-and-pop establishments like Lupita's Mexican Kitchen. If you find yourself in Pensacola, Florida and craving Mexican food, Lupita's Mexican Kitchen is a great place to head for. Overall, I would definitely recommend Lupita's Mexican Kitchen and I will give it five stars overall. read more

Last night I went to try this place out. The food portion, quality and value exceeded all expectations!!!! The atmosphere is quaint and low key actually for the area. The service is friendly and attentive. The food oh my the food. Last night I soloed this place and ordered two Rib Eye Steak burritos with a side of rice and beans. That was all phenomenal!!!! Today I returned with my Queen and ordered the Spicy Shrimp ( which for a chili head was perfect, for the layman, watch out it is a tad HOT!!! ). An unexpected turn brought us here after stopping & looking up Mexican food near. It's all about the food heat. I was excited to try their Barria Tacos. The flavor they have in this meat is absolutely delicious so very satisfying. There's also a small taco truck out back (Mexican Corn & Fruit Truck) is where we got the corn . First time here and I can say that I look forward to coming back again and again! The menu has many options to choose from. I settled on the birria tacos and my friend chose two street tacos and a chicken quesadilla. I forgot to mention a side of rice was also bought for our meal. Our food was brought out in about 15min. Piping hot and pleasant on the eyes I was excited. The first bite of the rice, tears of joy :-)! The rice reminded me of my grandma who lives in AZ. The birria tacos were toasted just right and the broth that accompanied was oh so good. Overall, the food was amazing! Everything was flavorful, the salsas provided had the right amount of heat! Decent authentic food at a reasonable price. The restaurant reminds me of a very old run down Wendy's, with a busted window, which was boarded-up with plywood. However, the interior was clean, despite its aged appearance. There is plenty of parking, but I would avoid the very back, as there is a homeless encampment behind the restaurant, which was spilling over into the parking lot. I would eat there again, but I would use the drive through. read more

It was very easy to call ahead and place a carry out order. We got two chicken burritos, and both were phenomenal. The chicken was marinated and cooked to perfection. Other ingredients in the burritos include: Rice and pinto beans, white onion, Cilantro, and it's all wrapped in a flour tortilla that is pressed on the grill to lock in the flavor. Burrito also includes a garnish of sliced, lightly pickled Serrano chiles and radishes. It tastes homemade and went well with the burrito. The two burritos came out to just under $20.00, and they taste 100x better than any chain burrito. read more

I have never tried Lupita's, but heard good things about them. They now have a brick and mortar on Pensacola Blvd. so I needed to check it out. I was really impressed! Everything we had was great. The man taking the order was really helpful and very kind. I ordered the birria tacos. You get 4 with the most tender shredded beef you can imagine. You also get a cup of broth to dunk your taco into, and it's a beautiful thing. My husband got the same with chicken, which he enjoyed, but mine was better. My son got the California burrito that has tons of things stuffed inside and it is huge! He said it was pretty great. My only complaint is that the green sauce is very bland. Watch out for those pickled carrots, they are delicious, but HOT! Oh! They don't have chips and salsa, but their cheese sauce is killer! Probably the best queso I've ever had. THESE ARE THE BEST QUESO BIRRIA TACOS IN THE AREA PERIOD. Pricing is reasonable, food came out fresh hot and fast. I got them with no onion just cilantro and lime and an issue I have with other places in general is alsways still finding onion in my tacos and that wasn't an issue with this SO ITS LIKE 1000x BETTER. A Gem of a Mexican Restaurant! Lupita's on Pensacola Blvd could possibly be in the top 5 Mexican/ Latin Restaurants at which I've eaten....and this includes many restaurants in Mexico and Spain. DIPPING TACOS! Never heard of them? Well if not, then you owe yourself a treat. Tender shredded beef roast, cilantro and onions on a taco that I cannot even describe and accompanied by a sauce for dipping that my husband thinks might be his favorite sauce of any, anywhere (no clue what's in it but it is like a combo of beef drippings, taco salsa, and other components LOADED WITH FLAVOR).
