This cheese dip is everything
Stella H.

El Tapatio in Cantonment. The epitome of a hole in the wall restaurant but great service and great food. Only open till 7:30p.m though. That cheese dip is everything! The owners are so gracious. No alcohol so super family friendly. No large room for big parties but small enough to split up and still have a good conversation. Great north end location for great mexican food.

Great food and service. Clean restaurant. It's a small restaurant but stays modestly busy. Good addition for the area.

Amazing Mexican spot in Daphne! Found them online and was intrigued by the photos and reviews, so…read morewe decided to check it out. Upon arriving we noticed the big parking lot, good location, and when we walked in we were greeted immediately. Inside was nicely decorated, dimly lit, and clean. We promptly got sat on a Sunday afternoon, and quickly got served water, got our drink orders, and food orders put in. The brunch menu is from 12-3, with mimosas and bloody Maria's. The bloody was really nice - could tell it had tequila! Old fashion was nice not overly Smokey. Onto the food, the tamales were some of the best I've had. They were HUGE. They came with birria, great consume, flavorful poblano rice, delicious poblano and corn cream (something of that nature) was so creamy and was GREAT. I couldn't believe how hot and fresh everything was. It was some of the best Mexican I've had. My husband enjoyed his chicken as well - it was tender and juicy, good char on the pineapple too. The portions were huge and we didn't eat it all. Good thing we didn't, the chef gave us complimentary dessert (ice cream because we're gluten free)! It was our first time and we'd love to go back. Everything looked and sounded great. Good margarita options, the flight was ordered by the table next to us! The overall cost for us two, although not the worst, but definitely not a cheap brunch was $110 with tip. Hot sauce was $2.50 on the side. A nice treat with friendly staff and good food, but not if you're looking to save some money.

The place is very dark inside with the theme of a jungle of plastic plants hanging overhead. There appeared to be a few real plants, but it was too dark to confirm that. The food is tasty, but overpriced for what you get. We had the feeling the money is being spent on the decor or the lease on the building rather than the food. The potential is there for a better deal without the hype. It's a "been there done that " place for me.

El Gordos Mexican Grill - Shrimp tacos on house made corn tortillas. Superb. Like I been saying for years. Now they own this place Ole! :)..,

After reviewing this place on Yelp I knew we had to give it a try! Well, we found it to be pretty…read moregood. It's very hard to find Mexican food on par with that on the West Coast. The food here, though, was good. One of the things I've noticed out here in the South and on the East Coast, complimentary chips and salsa are not always to be expected. They do, however, start you off with them here! The server was attentive and friendly and eager to provide anything that would make the meal better. The place is decorated very nicely, with lots of local artwork, and it's very clean making it a pleasure to dine in. I had Chile relleno and a pork tamal, one of the kids had a burrito and one had an enchilada, and my wife tried their fajitas. Nothing was outrageously awesome, but everything was good, especially for the area. The only food I've found that is better so far are street tacos on the other side of town. Chances are good that we'll be back when we're in the area.

Thought we'd give it a shot since I was craving Mexican - I'm not a fan of Vallarta's either but comparing the two - vallartas wins. Chicken quesadilla comes with shredded cheese from the grocery store - chicken tasted rubberish. I took one bite. My pops had the combo plate - didn't eat the enchiladas, beans & rice. This is 100% Americanized Mexican food. We were the only people in there .. shortly another table arrived.
