They were lined up right beside the wharf so we walked over and loaded up. The tour took around 45 minutes and was very informative. We snaked along the streets of Lunenburg hearing stories about the town's history and of the different historical buildings we passed by. Our tour guide was very informative and pretty funny as well. The ride itself was very comfortable and relaxing. The carriages only have a few seats but you have a good amount of room inside which is nice. The seats were soft and comfy. They also had blankets in case we got cold. We had a great time and would definitely recommend these tours for anyone going to Lunenburg.

Top of our list was to have a horse and carriage ride around that pretty town. It's a beautiful place, but Shay, our expert driver brought the whole town to life. Not only was it interesting to hear about the history of the architecture and who lived in these beautiful homes, but we also got to hear about what happened to the horses during the wildfires. Farmers all over the province came with horse trailers to help get horses to safety. Amazingly kind people love on the East coast! If you are to Nova Scotia , make sure to go to Lunenburg, put this on your list as a must do. It really does take you back to the early days when life was much simpler and it was a delightful ride. Shay's parents came for a visit with their family a couple of years ago, fell in love with Lunenburg. They found the horse farm business, bought it from a retiring farmer. Shay, was already a carriage horse driver in beautiful Niagara on the Lake! We plan to return one day and have a few lovely carriage rides. Thank you Shay and your parents "who bought the farm"! While the location is beautiful and the staff were wonderful, this isn't our favourite winery in the province. We did a tasting which was awkwardly presented in shot glasses which we found quite tacky. Nothing in the tasting really stood out and we didn't end up buying a bottle of anything because the tastings are set. You can't really choose off the menu because not everything is available to try. We came for the annual Christmas in Petite, so it was quite busy and many wines weren't available which was a bummer. It would have been nice to select our own options to sample as there is a cost, so not sure we'll make the trip down from the Valley unless it's another annual event. The terrace is really lovely but the furniture could use some updating. Some cute bistro sets would be nice instead of overly bulky chairs and benches that are tough to move. Service was great and friendly so no complaints there. Overall, still worth visiting for location and the scenery, but as wine drinkers, this is pretty low on our list of faves simply because there wasn't much to try that we were interested in.

Truly…read more We were in Nova Scotia for our honeymoon trip and had only planned the first couple of days and the last couple as well - leaving a bit of room in the middle for spontaneity. An internet search brought us to Oceanstone, which seemed like the perfect place to stay as we also wanted to check out Peggy's Cove too. We were lucky enough to secure one night and totally fell in love with the resort, pretty much at first sight. We had put in our booking comments that we were on our honeymoon, hoping we might get a really nice room. We were so pleasantly surprised to walk up to the kitchen in our super cute private cottage and find a lovely bottle of wine along with handmade, outrageously delicious sea salt caramels and a hand written note. To the resort, perhaps a small gesture but to us, it really make our stay that much more special. We really enjoyed our night's stay in our private cottage, which was just set behind the main lodge. The cottage was quaint, clean, and well appointed. We loved our small balcony just outside the living room area, we enjoyed our coffees out there in the morning. The bed was also super comfy too, like a cloud. We loved it there so much we inquired about staying a second night however sadly the resort happened to be fully booked for a wedding party the days immediately following our stay. We ended up eating at the restaurant on their property, Rhubarb, three times in just 2 days - it was so good. We enjoyed an early dinner when we first arrived, then ordered pizza as a "later" night snack then ordered take out the next day for dinner from the next cottage resort we ended up staying at just down the road. We also took a couple of lovely, calm walks along the ocean front during our stay which was so nice. The property is stunning and it feels like you are in another part of the world completely. Looking forward to someday returning again!
