I experienced Oceanstone for the first time this summer at my cousin's wedding. Picturesque to say the least! Summertime cottages scatter along an upwards winding road, amongst wilderness and deep waters. Its an escape from reality at a mere 20 minute drive from the city. The wedding was a huge affair, booking out the entire retreat for a weekend. With the families and guests having full run of things, I was able to do a fair share of peeking around... and let me tell you: this place is serene. Cottages varied in size and each had their very own sweet 'n' seaside title. (For example: "Periwinkle" and "The Captain's House") Decor was country chic, featuring vintage cabinets, rich wooden paneling, homemade quilts and so many other adorable quirks. Lodgings gave the feeling of home and a reflection of peaceful surroundings. The reception hall was just as refined. Its Old Victorian style gave a real atmosphere to the event and was more of a home than a dining hall. Its prolific bar and french doors to the dining room highlighted such character. Oceanstone isn't cheap but its an amazing escape from the everyday. Right off the water and secluded from outside influence, its wilderness is at your fingertips and one step closer to heaven. Swoon.

Nova Scotia is getting hit by a hurricane and they refuse to accept a late cancellation considering…read morethe hurricane warning was announced after the cancellation period ended. They are located directly on the ocean, and will likely have heavy wind, rain AND the risk of severe oceans swells yet they put their income above the safety of their customers while all of our other reservations for the weekend have cancelled on us and offered refunds or credit. UPDATE: Despite numerous attempts on my part and that of expedia's to get in contact with the manager they ignored all attempts, failed to get back to anyone, and they've billed me a full day early instead of compromising in any way (even to give a credit for a future stay or change payment method to an insured card) when their motel is about to get HIT BY A HURRICANE. Avoid these people. They shouldn't be in business.

Greeted right away by Ross, he could also be reach quickly by calling. Very down to earth and accommodating host. I believe him and his wife put a lot of love and consideration into this lovely place to stay. He even helped move the benches as a request to have the purple ones outside the door because I wanted my friend to arrive to her favorite color. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ We stayed in #5, a very clean stylish 2 queen bed with balcony, mini fridge, TV and full bathroom. Very private. There's a spectacular view with soothing waves. A diner Cafe L'Acadia 3 minute walk across the road. The scenery is worth the walk, if you go a little further and up a side road there's a path to the rocks for another amazing sunset view (seen in the photos). We ordered take out from a place further away and they forgot cutlery, I will recommend having some if you plan to order take out to eat in. We will be returning for another stay. The location is just right. A scenic drive and a peaceful get away.

The beds are fabulous, I slept like a baby. Every morning at 830 there is a full breakfast in the kitchen and sun porch. Tracy and Mark greet you with a smile and the most deliciousness! Her oat bran fruit muffin is to die for! During the whole meal they engage all of their guests in delightful conversation and make you feel right at home, in their personal home. The view of the cove is breathtaking and they are only minutes from the legendary Peggys Cove Lighthouse. We paid $200.00 Canadian per night for the cottage and when we converted it to American is was less than an average hotel here in the states. It was worth every penny and I personally plan to go back in the future.

What a great place to stay and brunch!…read more It is a lovely old house on the main street of Lunenburg. It has a fantastic balance of old and new: - lovely antique furniture, floor coverings, exquisite old light fixtures, etc. - exercise room, high speed internet, business centre, flat screen TV + DVD player in the room. We were blown away by the small touches as the modern stemware in the rooms, updated bathrooms and complementary chocolates on the bed. The bed was a dream to sleep on, once the pillows were cleared and stacked in the corner:-) Nice light cozy comforter on the bed. Now for breakfast - simply fantastic! Cold buffet with solomon gundy, smoked salmon, cheeses, etc.. A bread stack that included fresh from the oven croissants. We went with the a la carte eggs benedict - and don't let them give you the back bacon - go for the smoked salmon option - yummmmmm!!! We will definitely be going back. The question is only whether it will be another mid-winter, off season fantastically priced get-away or a full priced mid-summer Lunenburg folk festival week? Not to be missed!

The receptionist was hospitable and friendly. He provided us with a list of businesses in the area that would be good for a bite to eat or drinks. I would recommend The Mariner King without hesitation.
