They were lined up right beside the wharf so we walked over and loaded up. The tour took around 45 minutes and was very informative. We snaked along the streets of Lunenburg hearing stories about the town's history and of the different historical buildings we passed by. Our tour guide was very informative and pretty funny as well. The ride itself was very comfortable and relaxing. The carriages only have a few seats but you have a good amount of room inside which is nice. The seats were soft and comfy. They also had blankets in case we got cold. We had a great time and would definitely recommend these tours for anyone going to Lunenburg.

Top of our list was to have a horse and carriage ride around that pretty town. It's a beautiful place, but Shay, our expert driver brought the whole town to life. Not only was it interesting to hear about the history of the architecture and who lived in these beautiful homes, but we also got to hear about what happened to the horses during the wildfires. Farmers all over the province came with horse trailers to help get horses to safety. Amazingly kind people love on the East coast! If you are to Nova Scotia , make sure to go to Lunenburg, put this on your list as a must do. It really does take you back to the early days when life was much simpler and it was a delightful ride. Shay's parents came for a visit with their family a couple of years ago, fell in love with Lunenburg. They found the horse farm business, bought it from a retiring farmer. Shay, was already a carriage horse driver in beautiful Niagara on the Lake! We plan to return one day and have a few lovely carriage rides. Thank you Shay and your parents "who bought the farm"! No whales, but you can't plan on wild animals. Beautiful scenery on the way in and out, so bring the camera along. There are a lot of people on that boat, so get comfortable. Kids will either fall asleep or feel sea sick, so recommend they close their eyes to sleep.

Bought two nights at the Ovens but left after one night because of the rude actions of the manager…read moreJane who was upset that we bought our firewood outside the camp at the local gas station and it was our mistake that we did not read the rules about fire and we had a fire going in the morning, her employee said nicely that he was going to get water to put it out and we apologized but five minutes after he left to get water she came speeding into our campsite yelling at us! Asking us if we had a bucket to put it out?! We explained that her employee was bringing water she proceeded to yell about fire wood and then speeded off. We packed up and left. I believe that there are better ways to talk to people without hostility especially in front of children!

A truly beautiful spot that can boast being the only winery in the area with stunning views of the…read morevineyard. While the location is beautiful and the staff were wonderful, this isn't our favourite winery in the province. We did a tasting which was awkwardly presented in shot glasses which we found quite tacky. Nothing in the tasting really stood out and we didn't end up buying a bottle of anything because the tastings are set. You can't really choose off the menu because not everything is available to try. We came for the annual Christmas in Petite, so it was quite busy and many wines weren't available which was a bummer. It would have been nice to select our own options to sample as there is a cost, so not sure we'll make the trip down from the Valley unless it's another annual event. The terrace is really lovely but the furniture could use some updating. Some cute bistro sets would be nice instead of overly bulky chairs and benches that are tough to move. Service was great and friendly so no complaints there. Overall, still worth visiting for location and the scenery, but as wine drinkers, this is pretty low on our list of faves simply because there wasn't much to try that we were interested in.

The grapes are all from the local area vineyards. Pretty nice product for a young wine making region. Also they make some very nice ciders, both dry, sweet and fruit added styles. So on your next visit, stop in, and on weekends they have a local food cart using local beef, pork and have vegan offering too! The food is great also! Enjoy your visit!
